i would prefer to sign Waghorn than Marriott. Waghorn scoring 14 goals in the championship last season is interesting, but its not prolific. Marriott scoring 33 goals in total last season, thats prolific and at 23 surely he can only get better

So...you'd prefer Waghorn because he's not prolific, and you don't want Marriott because he can only get better? ?

If you break the internet by pressing that  button on your new fancy typewriter I’ll be fuming, it’s just getting exciting.

I think enough pictures and gifs have been posted lads.

He clearly just mixed up the order of the names. People do it all the time, most folks just edit it quickly ?

Posh fan in peace here! Also have a soft spot for Derby due to family connections and was at Pride Park for the 2-0 win against Forest last season.

It looks like this one will get over the line today so will tell you a bit about Jack and what to expect.

Firstly, like with every one of our transfers over the past 3 or 4 years, the figure will undoubtedly be undisclosed. There are rumours flying about on both sides but we won't know when it goes through. In about 18 months time, our chairman will accidentally/on purpose leak the figure during a random interview, however he is known to exaggerate a little.

So whether it is 4, 5 or 6 million, this is what you're getting with Jack.

Pro's:

Jack is the hardest working player in the team. He never stops running and will constantly harass defenders into mistakes. He is used to the ball being pinged over the top of defenders so he can run into the space behind. He plays on the shoulder, similar to a Jermain Defoe or Michael Owen 10 years ago.

He always seems to be in the right place at the right time. If the ball is bobbling about in the box, he tends to be the one who anticipates where it is going to land. He must have scored 15 goals last season due to anticipation alone.

He is a cracking 'instinct' finisher. He doesn't need long to think. In fact, when he has too long to think, he tends to mess it up.

He gets over injuries incredibly well. Twice last season it looked like he was going to be out for up to a month and yet started the next game.

He is a really likeable guy. He seems down to earth and doesn't come with any baggage, unlike another player we are currently selling.

Cons:

Contrary to belief, he's not actually that fast. You don't watch Jack and go "wow, look at the pace". He's not the slowest but he's certainly not the fastest player in the squad.

If Jack could finish one on ones, he would have scored 50 goals last season. As mentioned above, he seems to struggle when he has too long to think about the chance.

When Marcus Maddison didn't play, Jack really struggled to make an impact. MM was our playmaker and could spot the runs Jack was going to make. Without Maddison, Jack wasn't getting the service and quickly became ineffective.

He doesn't hold the ball up particularly well with his back to goal and his distribution is league 1/league 2 level.

Overall, is he worth the money? Yes, in today's market he is well worth the money.

Can he hack championship football? Literally no idea. He could score 30, he could score 5 next season. The only thing I can go on is when we played Villa in the FA Cup last season at Villa Park and he tore them apart, scoring twice and assisting the other.

If I had to rate the 4 'big money' strikers that we have sold over the past 4 years, he would sit third.

Dwight Gayle > Britt Assombalonga > Jack Marriott > Conor Washington

Hope that helps and good luck next season! I hope he fires the Rams to the promised land!
