Esteban Fuertes?

I thought Esteban Fuertes was great in the few matches he actually played in. He seemed to generate his own luck and muscled his way into great situations. He was like our version of Teves, but without the biting... or passport.

I don't remember Leighton James ever playing consistently well for Derby TBH.

They never reached the heights but were all considerably better when they left than they were on day 1.

I guess a fair definition of improved would be that they went on to play consistently for equivalent, or better, sides. None of them did. In fact, almost to a man, that team was never heard of again.

Jake Buxton.

Him and Addison teamed up to star in the unforgettable 4-1 home defeat to Scunthorpe. Disappeared for ages, came back and scored that goal vs Forest. Became of the most beloved DCFC players this century.

David Nish took a while after he came from Leicester but then he was  brilliant at Derby.

I remember Nishy clearing the ball off the foot of an attacker in our 6 yard box in his first game for us.

No penalty and stopped a certain goal.

I could see we had a potential match winner!

Derek Hales on the other hand ..................

(might as well have been on the other side!)

Roger Davies was literally hit and miss too.

Scored 5 against Luton in one game, and missed from half a yard out after beating 4 Chelsea defenders and rounding the goalkeeper.

I know, Me and Mozza wus there!

For some reason we called him Roger Daymiss!?

In the Black Country we'd say

"Day miss! Doh yoh be doft!

If 'e day score 'e musta mist!

Yoh cor avit both roads!"*

* translation (for non Yammers like Boycie)

Did not miss! Kindly speak sense!

If he failed to score it stands to reason that he must have missed!

One cannot retain one's cake whilst at the same time devouring it!
