Well, if I was worth £700m (or whatever it is) I wouldn’t let a payout at a tribunal that is capped at relative small change to me stop me from doing the deed. I’d give him the hairdryer treatment, kick his ass out the door, stick my middle finger up at him and say ‘sue that you piece of crap’ and not care what it cost.

And that is probably the reason why he should be nowhere near our club. Probably this attitude (if he has it) that has meant that just about everything is fooked up.

Be careful what you wish for, there are far, far, worse owners out there who don't give a damn about the club or the city. We've come across a few of them ourselves.

That stood out to me and at first I got annoyed then when I thought about it Mel could have intervened in a positive way to help Keogh.

So maybe it was a positive step?

Perhaps he was just looking out for him(stress, pressure?).

Bit like the drone (non) story. Just because it's written in the case papers doesn't mean it's meant to be anything other than a juicy headline to apply pressure. And if it did happen context is all.

It is absolutely and utterly wrong though - the correct HR procedures for sacking someone should be simple, simple stuff for anyone who's ever owned a business.  If it's true and Mel did blow his top and sack him on the spot, then that's the last type of guy I want running Derby County.  I want someone who knows what they're doing, who takes the time to make good decisions and who follows through on those decisions.  Obviously we're all on the outside looking in, but the perception I have of Mel seems to be the exact opposite of that - we seem lurch from one thing to another without any thought or planning ("The Derby Way", "Pearson Hoof-ball!" "Mac 2", "Rowett-Ball", "Young hungry squad", "Clear route from the academy to the first team", "£40m spent on old crap players", "Big squad", "Small squad", "Head coach", "No, we want a Manager"), decisions seem to get made in the heat of the moment and we're permanently in a period of adjusting from the last crisis to the next one.

Although there is a very good quote knocking about the science community that goes something along the lines of:

"You only become an expert in a particular field not when you get everything right, but when you've made all the mistakes there are to make!"

So if all the accusations, the one which keeps coming back at me is the removal of the clause to allow agent payments to continue. I assume for the original contract duration. Wasserman clearly gain by this.

I'm surprised how few comments Pearce is receiving here. As CFO he must look at the accounts and see where money is going and ask questions....

Still a lot of he says, she says in all this however and probably not enough documented processes within the club to define who has responsibility for what. Morris agrees fee for a player, Rush is left to agree the contract etc

It's not the mistakes that really bother me, it's the repeated changes of strategy that have just left us in a mess.  The 'Derby Way' stuff that was so important to Mel when he first arrived is (IMO anyway) absolutely the right strategy for a club in our position - we should have a club 'style of play', and should be appointing managers, signing players, and developing youngsters that all fit into that style. We banged on about that for 6 months, and then spent the next few years actively setting out to make sure it could never, ever happen.  If Morris (or whoever) makes good decisions for sensible reasons (even if they don't work out in practice), then he'll have all the support in the world from me.

Yes, you could be right but if the name GSE was above the door, they would not have been cut the slack this guy has.

Personally I would take the risk.

I don’t share your opinion and will not attempt to change it. I suppose you wouldn’t be happy until we got a billionaire like Fulham.

I agree with @duncanjwitham his last post just about sums my thoughts...

Your post was strange as it seems you want to condone some loose canon firing people all over the place just because you can afford 70k.  It’s hopefully a professionally run organisation and not, as it seems on occasion, one mans play thing.

Would you work for a man like that?

I just want the geezer to do his job, cut the bollx and start running the business professionally.. Honest opinion his watch has been poor.. 2/10 at best.

I firmly believe that Mel Morris has genuinely tried to get us into a better place but jeez he's right royally naffed things up on a momumental scale.

Fit and proper person test to run a football club, Morris must have been on holiday for the exam date.

That’s a bit harsh, I just think his impatience has got the better of him on occasions. People, (particularly men) who find themselves in Morris’s position invariably want things, and because they are used to all and sundry basically kissing bottom, they want it now.

He probably thought his initial plan wasn’t happening quick enough for his liking so decided to tweek it... and tweek it til we find ourselves where we are today.

He couldn’t legislate for a trusted employee doing what he’s accused of so I place no blame on him for that. I have no doubt he has the best intentions for this club, I just think he hasn’t surrounded himself with the best staff in some instances.

I am available on a consultancy basis and only charge 2 packets of McVities chocolate digestives a week, none this Tesco’s own brand malarkey.

So.have I got it correct ?? .the Rush stance is that he agreed to pay Paul Ince a 700k 'consultant' fee at the same time we bought his son.....and they paid this money to his wife as she was also a scout for us??

Just checking.. honestly. ..there is no tone of incredulity...or sarcasm...  but it is impossible to not infer that when you read it back.

It sounds bad, doesn't it? But it could be just a loophole to avoid some other payments meanwhile making sure he is signing to us.

These happen and pretty much in every sport.
