Kernow
29 minutes ago, Parsnip said: This thread was started by B4 on Nov 26th - are we any closer to Wolves now than we were then? We were 12 points behind but that was after 18 games. Now we've played nine more games and are only 10 points behind. If we continue to catch them at the rate of two points per 9 games, it'll take us another 45 games - goal difference depending, we may still be behind them. We can still do it!!! Kernow
On a more serious note, the difference between us and the other teams above us at that same point was... Bristol City -2 points Villa -3 points Sheffield United -5 points Cardiff -5 points As it stands we now find ourselves... Bristol City +5 points (swing of 7 in our favour) Villa +5 points (swing of 7 in our favour) Sheffield United +9 points (swing of 14 points in our favour) Cardiff +2 points (swing of 7 in our favour) In summary, we've done pretty well. In respect of Wolves, You cant catch a team who doesnt loose games, no matter how well your own team is doing.

Or look at like this. We have gained 2 points over the last 1 game and reduced goal difference by 3. At this rate we will be top on GD in only 5 games time. In respect of Wolves, You cant catch a team who doesnt loose games, no matter how well your own team is doing. Which is precisely what we were told about our prospects of catching Cardiff a mere 5 games back.... Warnock's too canny, his teams offer greater levels of consistency, been there done it, and so on. Such predictions look silly now irrespective of whether we finish above them or not. And I don't suppose for a minute that GR rocks up at work each day saying, 'Forget Wolves lads, they can't be caught. Let's just try not to lose second place, eh?' Why the hell should we? The fact is, there's 19 games to play, they'll be massively attritional matches by and large and some of the leader's key players, technically gifted as they are, will not be used to such an arduous run-in, nor so many games across a single season with no meaningful breaks. Let's see how the next half dozen matches pan out before handing the title to Wolves on a platter. Plenty could change, for us and them.
