We did our bit, only yourselves to blame (and Forest) see you for pre season friendly little brother

I think they can definitely blame forest for this one. They held up their end of the bargain.

4 minutes from pulling off an amazing fete. Got to be gutted. They couldn’t really expect more than a draw at Preston, so they did their bit. (I know they eventually lost, but only after throwing the kitchen sink at Preston after Forst had gone behind), Forest completely ******* it up. Predictable really.

Can’t blame Forest, season is longer than one game. They played against 10 men for 40 minutes, equalised but fell behind again. Preston players will be aware of what’s going on at Pride Park, was over for them. Burton can only look at themselves over the season, not just today.

Meh. Staying in the league again would have been a fabulous achievement. Maybe if they’d have stayed they should start thinking about loftier ambitions than last gasp survival. But this season, no one would have really expected any more than that. So there season had pretty much gone to plan.

So they played against 10 men for 40 mins. Doesn’t mean they’ve got a god given right to win the game. They’re still only burton, away to a top 8 team, a draw would’ve been a good result. A win would be nice, but not something you could bank on.

To get so close must be a kick in the balls, but a fine achievement. With 4 mins to go, burton were in the driving seat. You’d think, if they can do their bit and not concede, then the job is done. You couldn’t possibly imagine that forest were about to concede 2 in 2 minutes.

Therefore it’s all forests fault. They’re all a bunch of spoilsport *******.

You can't blame Forest, and Burton shouldn't have left things to chance.

Bolton could have routed Forest 5-0. It doesn't matter, when you're playing against ten men for 30+ minutes and you're drawing, you should go on to win the game.

I'm sure if Burton played the same scenario ten times, they'd probably win at least half of them.

They ultimately came up short, and they'll be kicking themselves as they couldn't really have asked for much more. With Barnsley down and out, you can't expect them to just hold a ten-man Preston to a 1-1 draw and rely on Bolton not winning.

Go on and beat Preston and make the Bolton game irrelevant. They couldn't do it unfortunately.

Not knocking them, and in fairness Clough has always been spot on, they don’t have the players. To take it to the final game of the season is still a great achievement as they looked doomed. I just don’t like to see it blamed on one game, they were in that position over the season. Had their chances today and didn’t take it. Interesting to see what’s next for them, do they find the money to bounce back up, League 1 is a tough tough league.

League One is a crap league. Look at how Blackburn and Wigan have absolutely cruised it. Perennial Championship strugglers Rotherham are in the top six again at the first time of asking.

Bolton who were terrible, went down with 30 points in 2015/16 plus a transfer bargo, bounced back at the first attempt with 86 points. Sheff Utd finished last season with 100 points.

It's a crap league and any big club should cake-walk it. Burton aren't, but you'd expect them to easily finish top six next season.

How many years were Sheff Utd down there? Quality might be crap but it’s still a tough league to get out of

Wow, this is there first relegation in 40 odd years, and Nigel’s first in 20-odd years. That’s quite impressive.

At least they’ll be able to look forward to a season where they are not the whipping boys now, and they might actually see a few more home wins, and more wins than losses.

Not quite able to pull it off but we gave it a bloody good effort.

Pummelled them for 20 minutes in that time we got the goal, their keeper pulled off a world. Clawing one from under the bar and after that we just couldn't find that last bit of quality to get the second our play deserved.

Worse thing that happened was forest going two one up, we took our foot off the gas. Even a draw keeps us up. We probably started playing for the point and then forest concede and we go hung ho, there's no way we lose that fame of bolton don't go three two up

Just fell short, nowt to be embarrassed about, they gave it all they had.

An important couple of months coming up, keep hold of boyce and a large part of the squad AND keep NC and there's no reason to see anything other than a playoff push.

Gutted but still proud overall.

Outrageous, yet not entirely surprising.

He's always been 'eccentric' to say the least! In fact you could probably describe him as a person who is riddled with mental illness and needs serious, professional help.

Was it his 'art installation' that gave it away?
