James & De Laet - Signed for Villa

The only player we have been linked with in my opinion is Forestieri and Wilson.

Forestieri hasnt gone anywhere and Wilson signed.

If its in the telegraph/radio derby or John Percy then I would believe it.

Just because the Daily Mail/The Sun/Other national newspapers have reported it. Doesnt mean for a second we have bid or have even been in for them.

If we signed everybody we have been linked with in the national papers our squad would be huge.

On a slightly more serious note, this situation sums up the problem that is developing in that the relegated teams now have such financial muscle that they can effectively outbid all of the existing Chamionship clubs (even for bag-average players - whether transfer fees of wage demands) - we need to get promoted sooner rather than later as there's a danger the PL becomes almost a closed shop with a handful of teams bouncing up and down every year and the rest hoping to get lucky and scrape in via the playoffs

Doenst anyone else feel peed off that the relegated duo villa and newcastle are signing all these top players and we havent made a single permo signing?

Don't worry - as soon as they go up, most of these players will be on the scrapheap and up for grabs.

Not many of them are better than we've got anyway.

I been thinking this also. Although perhaps there will be some trickle down economics as these teams buy up all the top players in the league for ridiculous prices when they go down, possibly leading to one of the beneficiary teams having enough money to get 4th...

Or probably not...

Both clubs were established premier teams with established premier players. They probably had the same problem as us last year, excellent players but poor team. Many of their players have been sold for big money, and with parachute payments on top these two have been spending big. Those parachute payments are supposedly to help pay good wages to poor players (see Derby County/QPR) but because they have been able to sell including at a profit and buy comparatively cheaply, whilst reducing the wage, it does blow things out of proportion. It still remains to be seen that they have spent well, on good players AND a good team.
