what if.....?

Recommended Posts

We had got a 6pt banker from MKD & Wolves we would have been right in the thick of it. Not asking for much as these should have been gimme's and to be fair both teams were very very poor. The only exception to the rule was that we were poorer in both.

Seems the Championship mirror's the Premier that no-one wants to win either apart from teams playing 4-4-2, with one good striker, solid at the back and are bang average (well at least Bunnley are).

Lots of pressure in the game these days. Lots of luck needed also, remember all those deflections in the first 5 games of this season?

Someone once said, it's a funny old game!! Anyone can beat anyone on any given day down to circumstance

If.....

If you can keep your head when all about you
 Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
  But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
  Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
  And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
  If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
  And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
  Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
  And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
  And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
  And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
  To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
  Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
  Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
  If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
  With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
  And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son.

I feel all the teams involved will feel the pressure. The chasing teams looking for a play off place will be giving the best shots going into these final 12 games(look at Birmingham against Hull). Cardiff and Ipswich are another 2 clubs that will have a chance of gate crashing the party. Then at the other end teams will be fighting for points to stay in the division.

How can Burnley be "bang average" if they're top? Why is this phrase used by football fans to describe things which aren't precisely average?

"Bang average" is 12th.

I thought we were bang average when we were top at Christmas. My hope is that over the course of a season I won't be proved right.

Have you not noticed that every season is the easiest to go up yet the next will be harder?

I remember Lee Camp reading this out on the big screen at the city ground. Just before they did us 5-2

As fans we just need to get behind the lads and see where it takes us now. Promotion is out of our hands. All we can do is win our games and hope that others above us slip up.

It seems that no-one wants to win this league as last nights result at Brum goes to prove.

We have a big part to play, the Ipro needs to get back to how it was earlier in the season as its fast becoming a library.

I honestly think that 84 points will get auto promotion. Can we get that many though? Looking at the games we have left, I dont think its beyond us, but we have to start with a win tomorrow and follow it up at QPR and Rotherham.

Its a good rallying cry - shades of B4. I worry about 3 games in a week - we've just recently done that and ran out of steam after 1.5 games, but DW kept picking the same players. So i can see us winning tomorrow, scraping a point at QPR and then being overrun by Rotherham.

You`re probably right but Christ, your pints half empty!

I reckon it`ll be Win,Draw, Win which will be an excellent return and probably put us right up there again?

If you can lose your head when all about
Are holding theirs and blaming you,
If you can flap about when all men doubt you,
and drop your cup of tea at half-time too;
If you can wait and never come for crosses,
Don't leave your line, don’t even try
If you can be that cock that goes on crowing
And won’t look good, no wonder why.

If neither forest fans nor friends can trust you,
If men can count on you to drop the lot;
If you fill the unforgiving extra minute
With sixty seconds when you lose the plot
Then yours is the shirt and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be at Rotherham, my son.
