In the glorious Brian Clough era I would go home after watching a match without singling anybody out for playing badly - we just didn't do it. The worse was criticising John McGovern for the un-human way he ran about the pitch, and Alan Hinton for the aggressive, physical way he would challenge for the bal ..................... oh wait. He was called "Gladys" for a reason.

I have fast got to the same position with this squad - they are all heroes, with each one contributing to the best of their ability. I was even glad that Colin Hourihane was in the team today, even though for a number of games he had largely been a waste of space. And it was actually a great header for the first goal!

We were so on top for much of the game, and should have scored 6 or 7, given the great opportunities we kept carving out for ourselves, but the substitutions changed everything. I know Collins seems to have trouble focussing on a barn door let alone a set of goalposts at the moment, but we certainly missed all the other un-noticed hard work he does for the team. And shifting Jason Knight perhaps wasn't the tactic of the year, either. But we won, yet again, and until that last "where's my butt plug" 15 minutes, Wildsmith was probably quite bored.

But we still won, and looking at the League table is actually quite enjoyable - getting closer to the top three and with games in hand. The future is looking good. COME ON YOU RAMS!!!

Not sure you're using that in the right context...

  2. Seems like we spent the better part of a decade playing a possession based passing game. Built out academy based on it. My personal thoughts are it was a huge mistake getting rid of LR. We've gambled in an effort to get promoted to the champ. We've not got the players for it, certainly not athletes that PW wants. There will be lots of Injuries playing this style.

It's more exciting and chaotic this way but the purist in me is screaming. Once the adrenaline wears away, it feels like we've got back 20 years. I do hope I'm wrong though. Very happy to be wrong. Needed evolution, not revolution.

Absolutely spot on, Crewton! As ever a visiting team only got a fraction of the cards they should gave been given. And their reputation as a footballing side is in question. Yes, they do have some talented players, but inevitably a few moments of interplay quickly gave way to the big hoof.

The red card was fully justified - I thought so at the time, and the highlights make it clear. It wasn’t Barky buying the foul, he was tripped deliberately.

Re our “poor passing”: apart from a few sloppy passes around the 70/80 minutes mark, if you look at what the players were trying to do, then the passes weren’t poor, they were passes that nearly worked, and there is a difference. Many times an inch or two difference either side of where the ball actually went and we would have had players in on goal.

Finally, the difference in how we are playing compared with last season is quite breathtaking. We thought that Rosenior was the brains behind Rooney achieving what he did last season, but the evidence would suggest not. Apart from the opening couple of matches, the Cocu-ball “shtay in the match” approach has gone. Even our goal-kick routine is much more direct. Unless thst is because Peterborough are a more attack-minded team so we don’t need to keep prising the bus away from the bus-stop! Our play is much, much more expansive, and us a whole load better to watch, regardless if the result - all credit to Rosenior for that!

Totally agree. Great post. I noticed we weren't always looking for the instant pass, we were dribbling with the ball slightly more, allowing us another dimension. Best football I've seen us play in a long time.

Yes, passes went astray, but that goes with making forward passes. I don't mind us trying.

Been surprised with the negative reaction. I was really pleased with the match, and it leaves me really looking forward to the next league game. That's not a feeling I've had in a long time, let me tell you.

Yep, sadly.  You can tell by the underscore after the@dcfcoffical handle. Plus, it has 2 followers!

You always judge your true feelings on first reaction. My first reaction was, yes!!! But alas, it's just a tease. This is Sophie J all over again. Never had my balls been so blue.

Im tracking against last season as that gave us 44 and safety.

after 29 games (using 29 as that's how many all of the bottom 4 have played) this season is now tracking a spectacular 9 points off that 44 target so currently 35.

Yes, but we were woeful those last 15 games. How many games did we win those games? Our form isn't bottom 3.
