I think you’ve been listening to too much media rubbish 59. Of course the majority of United fans that attend games come from Manchester but United have fans from all over country, indeed the world and obviously some attend games periodically. The simple fact is that United get more fans through the turnstiles on a bad day than the likes of Wanderers and Derby get on their best days. I think history is much more relevant than gate sizes when judging clubs. Under Cloughie, my personal ever favourite manager, you won two Championship titles 50 years ago but other than that you’ve won nothing other than one FA Cup in 1947. We’ve never won the league, runners up twice but have 4 FA Cup wins. We have spent the 12th most years in the top division in our history and you’ve spent the 15th most so I’d say we’re both pretty successful and should be proud of that. If we were the only club in Lancashire we’d arguably be getting average gates in the mid twenty thousands like you but we’re not and aren’t likely to but it doesn’t take anything away from the fact Wanderers are a club with a long and proud history and so are Derby. We’re both fortunate to have clubs with a rich history to support since we formed the original league all those years ago and that’s what makes the game tomorrow so special not the fact that one gets a few more thousand than the other through the turnstile. Actually to put it in perspective, we’ve just lost our best player Dapo Afolyan to a German club St Pauli who are fighting relegation from the Bundesliga 2 and their average gate is over 30k!! Beat that. ?

After a quick tally up we've just dipped below 2000 left, with 1940 tickets remianing. 3 hours 20 minutes ago it was 2035 so we've sold 95 in that time. That works out to be 40.77 tickets per hour. There's 72 hours and 45 minutes until kick off on Saturday, if the average maintains for the entire time that's 2966 tickets sold. I'd imagine those who are going have already got their tickets, so the curve will increasingly flatten the nearer to kick off that we get.
With this in mind, the attendance vs Oxford on the first day at 31,053 will hopefully be realistic. It's looking heavily likely to be the second attendance over 30k this season for us. Despite all the praise for our support last season, a 30k plus crowd was only achieved twice then.

Ramifications reacted to The Jeff Bourne Legacy in The Good Old Days
Cheltenham away was the 81st ground where I have seen Derby play. My first match at the Baseball Ground was in 1966 aged 8 when my Father and Grandfather took me. First away game was Villa Park in 1968/69 during Clough and Taylors promotion season. Cheltenham's ground made me feel I was back in the 60's again (how lucky we are with Pride Park).
I stood behind the Derby dugout yesterday and loved it when Paul Warne popped round the side of the dugout and exchanged some jovial banter with the Cheltenham fans behind him. All in the best possible taste and another throw back to the good old days. How many grounds could that happen at nowadays ?
Finally, I don't think I have ever witnessed home fans applaud an away goal in the way the Cheltenham fans around me did with Birdy's screamer. A sporting response from football supporters very rarely seen in the modern game.
A great day yesterday but back to the 21st century next week against Bolton.

Ramifications reacted to Leeds Ram in One year on since the march
We cannot replicate the march. It was a product of a unique feeling of togetherness and desperation of our fan base, this was a time when many of us felt extinction was beckoning for an institution that had served our community since before any of us were born. The march whilst beautiful to witness, showing off the very best characteristics not just of Derby but of football in general, was also horrifying in the sense we felt we had to do it at all. I genuinely hope no other fan base feels the need to march like we did in an attempt to highlight our club's plight and fight for survival.
Everyone who participated should not only feel proud that they came out but have now entered Derby folklore. Generations will speak of that march not unlike we discuss the big European nights under the baseball ground lights. Except, in this version the fans are the heroes, the ones who stepped up and demanded resolutions. United not divided we all helped save the club from oblivion. For that reason I believe the club should mark that date every year with some kind of tribute.
Perhaps a video with players and former management with what it meant to them would be appropriate as well as interviewing fans who participated on the march accompanied by the silent drone footage which shows the sheer scale of it all. If we got to Wembley instead of playing steve bloomer's watching I'd see if I could get that shown pre-match tbh.

Ramifications reacted to Wistaston Ram in Cambridge United (H) Fri 30th Dec
Just back in record time despite driving back through stoke who were playing at home (5.5k less fans than at Pride Park for their big match v Burnley). Not quite as entertaining as our win there, almost a year ago to the day, but probably a more important 3 points. Roll on Accy. UTR

Is it me or is Sibleys set piece delivery much better than Hourihane’s?

Ramifications reacted to Zag zig in Conor Hourihane
When he went off tonight, the 3 balls Sibley put over were hit with more pace and energy than any Conor put over in my opinion.
Really don’t get why he has to take almost every deadball situation? Why Sibley can’t be allowed to take some baffles me.

Just throw it quick and get on with the game. Not too complicated one might think. We do seem reluctant to try that easy move tough for some reason.
