CKR became "active" when he moved forward from the opponants half to chest the ball down in his own half...now the confusing bit is "active", I've seen players this last couple of seasons given offside when chasing a long ball then flagged when the ball is controlled, But where is the free kick taken from, The point of control of where he started the run...this has bugged me since this new law came about.

Change for change's sake, not made obvious beforehand to the casual observer. Can hardly blame people for not knowing there's been a pointless reinterpretation of a rule that was never a problem in the first place

Well it certainly creates goal scoring opportunities..

He should at least teach the players when to play that way and when it's too risky. Rigidly sticking to the tactic when the opposition are pressing that high up is brainless. 
 

But by kicking it long (which they do anyway after they’ve done the daft pass) it goes over the opposition players taking them out the game anyway ??‍♂️

But the midfield don’t move ? Literally 2 forwards sit on edge of box and press as soon as Davies kicks it. I don’t mind passing out from the back if it’s done correctly. Time and a place.  Not when of the most pressing teams is literally on edge of ya box ? and they just hoof it anyway ?‍♂️Just seems strange. I’ve not seen any advantage from it ? Only seen it decimate Roos confidence when he concedes daft goals ?

I know I’m an old traditionalist but I blame the fact that the laws of the game are constantly changing. Until recently the ball had to leave the penalty area from a goal kick. Since this law was changed we consistently play Russian roulette which often ends in disaster

The club come to an agreement with the EFL regarding our 'punishment' and we suddenly get a half-decent ref and a penalty in the same gaame? Too much of a coincidence methinks......

For a 19 year old to come into a situation like that and put in a performance which was he had to do all the "ugly things" get the ball, Harras and chase, Close players down...well done young Thompson you did well

Rooney has said in the past that he instructs the team to play it out from the back and that he knows they will occasionally make mistakes and that he will take the flack for it. 
I'd file this one under "it seems like a daft idea but the manager thinks it's a good idea and I'd hope they know more about the game than I do".
