Doesn’t tackle in a very polite way

White should have had more game time since he joined. He’s one of the best footballers we have and with more minutes he would have come along even more

We've gradually shifted from playing through the thirds to playing more aimless balls over the top, it started around the Cheltenham (a) and Bolton (h) games. You can't point to a single specific game because it's not been a single massive change, it's just something that's crept into our game more and more. And the overall tiredness is part of it too - it's not just the tactics, it's our fitness to execute those tactics. For example, you can get away with those long balls if you then press immediately and win the ball back high up the field. We've stopped doing that too, so those long balls cease to be chances to put their back 4 under pressure, and start being chances for their midfield to run at us. I'm not the only saying this BTW, multiple other posters have been regularly talking about us playing more long balls in recent weeks.
A lot of the goals we've been conceding have been from people breaking on us - the first goal against Peterborough, 2nd against Fleetwood etc. And if you watch the highlights of those games back, almost every chance against us is the same - half a dozen opponents streaming forward on the break, while our defence madly backtracks. There is no doubt in my mind that the tactics we're using, combined with the current lack of fitness, are (at least in part) resulting in those situations. And dealing with those situations is specifically the weakest part of Cashin's game IMO.
Honestly, I'm finding the "Warne can do no wrong" narrative coming from some people equally tiresome. He's obviously not the sole reason we've lost form, but he's definitely part of it.

kevinhectoring reacted to Day in Jason Knight, option to extend his contract
Knight is wasted in forward positions, he's a high energy box to box midfielder, that's where he will shine when given the time to establish himself.
I'm confident his confidence would grow and the goals would also come.
He's been thrown into positions all over because he can and willing to put a shift in, I'm not surprised the goals haven't been there.
The problem is though, we don't play a system that fits a traditional box to box midfielder as a result he will be that square peg in a round hole.

We can’t hold him back, he’s given everything for our club.

Yep, he’s a saleable asset for sure. I don’t expect he’ll be around for long either, hopefully the days of us having to let our best assets leave for very little are done and we can get a decent ish fee for him.
I think anyone expecting multiple millions when the lad will only have a year to run on his deal may be disappointed, looking at it realistically if we get £2-4m for him it’ll be way better than some of the daylight robbery we’ve endured due to Morris’ legacy but nothing near what we could have had for him in “normal circumstances”.

The problem occurs when we need protecting from them!

kevinhectoring got a reaction from Dordogne-Ram in What Rams player was worth the most in their peak?
Some guy called Brian who played for Sunderland and Middlesboro would put the club ratio to shame. 251 league goals in 274 matches. But Bloomer’s international stats are ridiculous

There are plenty of goals in this team. Didzie’s worldies, Knight muscling the ball over the line, Fozzie/Cashin header from a fk/corner, 🐦 from the blue yonder, Sibley from anywhere. Or even Collins’ ingenious dummy header with the defender deftly slotting it home. We just need one a game if we keep a clean sheet. So let’s dominate midfield, have our midfield protect the defence, and win 1-0. We have the players to do that

I think they are. Other teams have the players to effectively rotate, we don’t.

kevinhectoring got a reaction from David Graham Brown in Sigh 😔
It’s just one game B4. We are a club in transition - don’t get upset by bumps in the road, we are still 6th and we are on the way back up. But sorry to hear you are in pain. Keep the club’s wobbles in perspective and listen to the advice you are getting about pain management. Then you can master it I can assure you

Every time we play I think of graeme shinnie. He would transform our lacklustre halves of football.

We know the players. We watch them every week. We have been watching some of them for years. We know what they are capable of. They are under delivering.

I think our small squad and lack of options is really hurting us we are crying out for a striker with pace.

I reckon the club will give Warne exactly what you suggest.
But here’s the thing. We know these players well. We know what they’re capable of. They are not delivering. Not one of them is playing to his potential. That’s a problem the manager has to fix, whether or not he’s bought them.

Maybe, but I’m not convinced we’d be up to much with different style.
