And what a change from the previous incumbent owner! The incomings show that Liam knows he's being backed and listened to presumably and I am sure DC and he have discussed it. It doesnt seem to have prevented players signing. As long as Liam is happy that's the main thing.

Imagine the alternative- long instant contract for Liam then things go pearshaped and all team sacked with big payoff and everyone goes same old derby, dc just like mm, etc.
I think Liam will do well

Because if you have an interim manager you’d normally be out looking for a permanent. Think this says: we’re not looking for anyone just now, Liam has earned the right to show whether he deserves the manager badge.

    seems very sensible.

Exactly this…I had heard that there was contact from managers and agents about the ‘possible’ vacancy. This quells that without long term commitment.

You mean q asked him to continue ? I am sure they would have been guided by David C at that stage. Not sure we’ve seen any sign as to whether DC wanted him to stay or go.

I think there’s a fair chance Rooney was involved in CK/Stretford’s plans for our club and that his departure was connected to that. I certainly think it’s unwise to believe the blandishments you read in press releases about resignations and sackings.

as for his salary with us, I think you’d need to know exactly what the deal was with 32 to be able to unpick it. Also, the US deal might also involve all sorts of bonus arrangements

But he’ll know he needs to be playing some football before then, don’t you think, for some sharpness, even if it’s in Div1

Rooney’s latest statement (explaining why he left) makes no sense.  He says
‘We had no owner, we had no players and it felt I had got to the point where I did all I could’
But he ‘resigned’ just as Clowes was taking over.

Maybe pressure from the Mrs? I can imagine she was fed up of him checking on here every 5 minutes to see whether anything was happening while they were supposed to be enjoying a family holiday.

Q would not have tried to persuade Wayne to stay without the approval of DC, regarding bonus arrangements at DC United, if they existed we would see next season when the salaries are published, e.g Johnny Russell is on $1.6 million a year at Sporting Kansas, £1.356million or £26,075/week he is the second highest paid player in the team. There is total transparency on wages in the MLS

He could have paid the personal debts he ran up in total - no-one made him gamble like he did. We were a relatively well run club when he took over. He ruined DCFC.

Don’t think CK was doing the persuading. I think it’s more likely that Stretford persuaded CK to buy an English football club (Preston or derby would do), one where Wayne could hone his management skills and continue to earn a hefty salary.

Uncle Paul can’t ask DCFC for the money back, because the FA will b****** him for making a loan to a club.

So he has to say it was a loan to CK (who then funded the club).

Problem is, we’ve heard nothing about a loan agreement between CK and the club. So may not be easy for CK to get the money back given that he pulled his bid
So in summary, that nice man Uncle Paul might just have made a gift of 1.6m to the club.

He sold DC a stadium - allegedly worth 80m - for what, 23?

Why did he do that? Because he wanted as much back as possible?

No,  it was because in August 21 he said: OK this has got to stop. Gibson has me over a barrel, he (and the EFl and covid) are stopping me selling the club and making me write monthly cheques in the millions. So here it is: Administration; and I am not putting in another penny.
the 23m went to MSD not MM

Hope people do not turn against him. Would be unfair. He saved our bacon, he’s not after publicity and I don’t think he’ll interfere in football matters. He’s beyond reproach so far as I’m concerned

There are many 'successful' business people like MM, but are they successful or have they just been lucky in 1 venture. I feared that this was the case with CK and I'm glad that we dodged that potential bullet.
I have been personally caught up in such a position, a guy makes a mint by selling his company, buys out my aging parents leaving me to stay in the business with my small shareholding. He also buys several other small businesses, with the intention to join them together and grow into a massive company. All very well, but from day 1 of the take over, I knew that he didn't have a clue on how to run our company and I suspect the others too. Things quickly went downhill and I brought up solutions at group meetings, which were ignored. I was 'rewarded' for this with instant dismissal without any reason, without any notice, without any pay, without any holiday pay and 3 children and a mortgage. By the time I won my unfair dismissal case, the group of companies had gone bust and with it so had my shareholding and any payments awarded to me.
Did the guy intend this to happen, no, but success in 1 venture lead him to believe that he was a good businessman and that he would be successful come what may.
Without a lot of bad luck along the way, MM could well have been successful at Derby, but he wasn't clever enough to realise when to pull back and stop chasing the dream, much like a gambler keeps betting money he hasn't got in order to recover his loses and make his fortune.
I don't believe MM had any malice just ambition, bad luck, arrogance, desperation and finally self preservation, in that order.
