I think the cash withheld from salaries etc is technically held on trust for HMRC. So to use it as we did for cashflow was a breach of trust. Seems HMRC is lenient about this, perhaps because their position as a preferred creditor has been restored
I think BZI was supposed to clear the HMRC arrears. When that deal finally fell apart MM tried to find another sale that would clear the debts, to no avail. The debts were accruing monthly. He realised Gibbo and EFL were in effect blocking a sale and I guess he was determined they were not going to make him keep writing cheques. Hence Q were appointed
Not a happy story. His efforts to sell the club were hopeless and his belief that Samuelson was the guy to help him was a massive error. Whether he was morally obliged to continue to fund the club until he found a sale is debatable.

Oh, I'm 100% sure of that. After all, they couldn't say in public how hard they were going to try to make an example of DCFC, and in particular Mel Morris.
However, to say that they had no knowledge of Gibson's actual claims is just ludicrous in my opinion. To repeat it several times over several months is trying to escape personal blame in my opinion. Why couldn't they know what the claims were but still feel that they should be dealt with by their procedures, even if they knew that the claims were dubious at best?
DCFC/MM are far from faultless in what has happened recently to the club, but the EFL have in no way helped us because of their own spineless actions.

But they were very happy to discuss Derby’s failings in public and issue sanctions. They may well have SAID something to Boro  but they didn’t DO anything
Are you by any chance employed by the EFL ?

Commanding the box is an important aspect and Roos’ judgment there is not so good.
Last season was grim from a goalkeeping pov and Allsop has been a good solution

Allsop is better in every way. A proper keeper.
Most importantly he is calm in what he does and keeps his defence calm.

What the EFL could have considered is what they have done subsequently which is to amend the rules to prevent the actions of Gibson.
We'll never know whether that could have been successful, but to prevent the kind of dissembling seen, it would have been a start.
Blimey, even a statement to the effect that the actions of boro were not within the spirit of the rules and were causing unnecessary disruption to an already complex and sensitive situation would have been something.
The blasted efl were quick enough to get their pr puff out there when they formed the view that dcfc were somehow gaining an advantage.
Useless spineless craven lazy barstewards is what they are.

Once "administration" is sorted "we'll" see a fair chunk of our "out of contract" players sign new deals with the club.

the auditors signed off on the accounts. So don’t think that alone would be enough for EFL now to refuse him ownership of a club. A somewhat hypothetical question tho

Just now Rooney is motivated by getting his managerial career off the ground,  not by money (I would think). He has the network and pulling power to assemble a squad that should be a major force in div 1. A return to the championship should be an easier gig than say getting a relegated Everton back to the top flight. And all the while with us he’s learning about management
what’s more, Stretford is in cahoots with CK so I’d think Rooney jumping ship (if CK takes over) is unthinkable. People have been talking about MM ‘pulling the strings’ in the PB process. Surprising no one has been suggesting it’s Rooney and Stretford

Always thought Weimann had a 20 goal season in him. Too quick, too hard-working and too good movement to not have one season like this.
Always thought he’d play well playing off Martin as well.

The calls at the time were for Martin and Vydra but they both liked to look for the same space.

There are many things you can rightly blame the EFL for but passing Mel in 2015 or whenever it was done, is not one of them.
A multi millionaire businessman, with a long history of supporting his local club, zero criminal record, takes a substantial financial  interest in the club in 2014 and a year later buys the remaining shares, and you want the EFL to stop him from doing so? Imagine the outcry. If that was the bar there'd be no owners of any club.

    Talk about hindsight

We agreed with Boro that in principle they had a right to bring a claim against us under the rules. Why do you think EFL can step in and stop Boro bringing their (vexatious) claim ? It’s not for the EFL to adjudicate the claim, it’s for the tribunal.  Agree EFL should have been putting pressure on Boro to withdraw it, but what else can they do?

Yes. My reference to going to a court of law was because the cases would never be allowed to see the light of day, and both Gibbo and his Wycombe counterpart would have been shown up for the chancers they are. I didn't realise the EFL rule requiring settlement by tribunal, but was extremely suspicious of such a route, because the last thing it would be is independent.
