kevinhectoring reacted to Rample in The whole squad wants to stay.
Easy to say, but see who actually stays up until the time we can offer contracts.
Maybe Davies and a few older players who have nothing better on the table.
I'd say a lot of other players will be offered better wages at a higher level than we are able, and that temptation will be too great to turn down.
This applies to prospective signings as well, in an era when so many players are being jettisoned a contract is a contract.
Lawrence is out the door. He's not going to drop £25k a week when WBA etc are offering him closer to his current salary and an opportunity to play at the top end of the championship.
You'd hope the likes of Cashin, Thompson and co. who have come through our academy would see decent pathways with us and stay. Someone like Ebiowei who isn't a long term academy player might be more tempted to jump to another club.
Best case scenario we manage to get the takeover over the line quickly and keep a fair few/attract a couple of our top targets, but more likely we'll keep a handful, chase a few loans, and then rummage through free agents in July to put together a makeshift team together.
Can only realistically see Davies, Cashin, Thompson and Morrison of our established first teamers staying right now, maybe Forsyth and Stearman, and then a handful of the 23s.
If things change and we can hold on to a few of Alsop, Byrne and more kids others great, but let's just be happy if we survive and just look forward to a rebuild.
I'm sure Wazza will find a bargain or 2, and more talented kids will emerge from the academy.

the fact the two of them met suggests that CK has got beyond his refusal to deal with MM. Credit to CK
it also suggests MM does not have some secret denouement planned with Ashley. Credit to MM

Potentially might not see a player that talented play for us again in the next few years, I’d appreciate him while you can.

He’s better than Festy, and that worries me regards clubs wanting him.

Your probably right, but there is a risk in this for Mel, if Derby did ground share or, god forbid, get liquidated he then has the ground and the MSD loan to service.
I wonder how long the current Derby agreement to lease the ground from Mel has left to run, it could be this lease that would stop Derby from ground sharing.
Theres so much detail we do not know it’s difficult to pull together even an educated guess.?

It’s not about the stadium it’s about money. CK’s offer leaves us with another points deduction unless MM or the Council (or both) tip in 20odd million.

I think the @Chilwellrammessages look pretty well informed. They make perfect sense.
The Council involvement may prove to be unhelpful. A bilateral negotiation between CK and MM is likely to lead to a deal. But if MM thinks the Council will plug the 20m hole he might be more difficult. Then we’re in a mess if the Council can’t deliver

And that is why it's a good job that it isn't public! Best to keep our powder dry for IF talks break down. 'Poking a wounded bear' isn't the best strategy right now. And, I suspect most of us don't really know the state of discussions.

I agree with you. Mel has made some pretty awful decisions but I do believe his intentions were to get the club promoted.
So, albeit his actions have led to the club now being on the brink of ceasing to exist, in any crime, you do have to look at the motive.
I don't think enough of us are doing that.
Similarly, most of us agree with Mel's stance against the EFL and parachute payments.
You're also right that he did resolve the issue with Gibson. Albeit late in the day.
I do hope that, regardless of his feelings towards Rooney - or even Kirchner - he looks at the bigger picture and removes the final obstacle that's preventing survival of Derby County.
I do find CK impressive. I feel his approach is refreshing. It would be great to see how things would work out next season under CK and Rooney, so I am desperate for his bid to succeed. Well, of course, we're all desperate for a bid, any bid, to succeed so the club survives.
But I mean I think CK would be good for us.
I do hope Mel paves the way.
And that, if he does, then the hatred recedes. We need to move on.

20 was the figure I think
It’s not about the stadium though, it’s about who pays off MSD. Why is everyone on about the stadium ?

Yes. His motivation was clearly to get us to the PL. He cocked it all up spectacularly, he can be called to account for gross incompetence. But this vilification of him as some sort of malicious Satan figure is bordering on the comical. Since ‘pulling the plug’ he sorted out Gibbo, and he is on the brink of sorting out MSD (for the benefit of CK, who is in bed with Stretford and Rooney, whom he detests !). He is human and doubtless damaged by all of this as much as any of us would be. Let’s move on and focus on the next chapter

You think he'll do the right thing?
MM and CK are both successful businessmen in their own fields. In the end, football wasn't right for MM, time will tell for CK but he needs the chance first.
If they are meeting, it has to be positive. Morris isn't going to meet him just to tell him to jog on. Kirchner isn't going to meet him to call him a k**bhead to his face. It really has to be positive, it's just a question of how far away we are from it being positive enough to be finalised, because there isn't really the time for small but steady progress anymore.

CK was pretty impressive in his meeting with Amanda S. At least I thought so. His ranting against MM is (was) heavily coloured by the prevailing mood amongst supporters and the powerful Rooney/Stretford PR machine. There’s every chance that when their meeting finishes they will have a lot more respect for each other than when it began - neither of them is foolish. Let’s see. I’m optimistic
