Since we went into administration I’ve wondered how much Pearce was to blame and the fact that Quantuma kept him around, and now DC, makes me think he was just following orders.  If he has a weakness, it’s probably that he’s too much of a yes man.

This seems right - Q went out of their way at one stage to state that SP had been very helpful to them. I suspect Pearce regrets not standing up to MM

I don’t understand why Ashley would pay considerably more to buy from DC than he was prepared to pay a few weeks ago.

    Happy to be enlightened?

Doubt Ashley would. But I’m sure Appleby would buy it giving DC a healthy profit, once promotion is assured. Given the shambolic efforts we’ve seen over the past 2 years to sell the club, DC could do a lot worse than keep in touch with AA

Dont believe for a minute that DC would want to own us in the championship. He’s seen how badly that can go wrong for people with much greater resources

Interesting they said about the whole structure, I suspect as some have mentioned, they're probably weighing up manager Vs DoF & head coach. Would LR even want to work under a DoF? Given he was part coach part analyst when he 1st joined he might want involment in transfers, so that would change everything

DC will now have a pretty good idea what owning a D1 club is about in terms of cashflows. He’ll know that if the club has a gate that’s above twice the division average, then it should not be a financial drain. In fact the club should make a profit, given he’s got very few legacy high earning players and given all that covid has done to player salaries.

But he knows we belong in the Championship and that the fans will require that. That’s a different level of financial risk. So even if he can put up with reluctantly owning a D1 club, as others have said he’ll be keen to exit stage left when promotion beckons.

So maybe that’s the quandary for the rebuild - does he look gradually to rebuild an organisation with Championship level infrastructure. Or does he keep a smaller D1 model for now ?

Think for now he’ll do the latter, then when promotion is in the bag, maybe give that nice Mr Appleby a call so he can put a group of wealthy Americans together. Then Appleby (or whoever it is) can properly rebuild

But the transition back to the championship may not be easy

Could take this statement either of the two ways mentioned above. So for me, why bother making a statement at all?

Because if you have an interim manager you’d normally be out looking for a permanent. Think this says: we’re not looking for anyone just now, Liam has earned the right to show whether he deserves the manager badge.

    seems very sensible.

The only place Bielik will be going is to the World Cup which means every niggle up until then he wouldn’t be playing to protect himself, if he had a good World Cup we can and probably would sell him in January at his maximum value.

But he’ll know he needs to be playing some football before then, don’t you think, for some sharpness, even if it’s in Div1

Q would not have tried to persuade Wayne to stay without the approval of DC, regarding bonus arrangements at DC United, if they existed we would see next season when the salaries are published, e.g Johnny Russell is on $1.6 million a year at Sporting Kansas, £1.356million or £26,075/week he is the second highest paid player in the team. There is total transparency on wages in the MLS

Rooney’s latest statement (explaining why he left) makes no sense.  He says

‘We had no owner, we had no players and it felt I had got to the point where I did all I could’

But he ‘resigned’ just as Clowes was taking over.

Love Bielik but he's been injured too much. A Premier League quality player though, too good for this league but even if he stays, can he stay fit? Then again, look at Fozzy these days after all his issues.

Even if he’s only with us until January, keeping Bielik would be massive. I’d assume he’s still working hard on rehab so no reason not to expect a good season. His distribution will slice apart half the teams in this league

DCFC asked him to continue as manager, he said to them in all honesty it was time for a new captain of the ship,  a fact I believe.

You mean q asked him to continue ? I am sure they would have been guided by David C at that stage. Not sure we’ve seen any sign as to whether DC wanted him to stay or go.

I think there’s a fair chance Rooney was involved in CK/Stretford’s plans for our club and that his departure was connected to that. I certainly think it’s unwise to believe the blandishments you read in press releases about resignations and sackings.

as for his salary with us, I think you’d need to know exactly what the deal was with 32 to be able to unpick it. Also, the US deal might also involve all sorts of bonus arrangements

He could have paid the personal debts he ran up in total - no-one made him gamble like he did. We were a relatively well run club when he took over. He ruined DCFC.

His management style was seriously flawed I can’t disagree with you on that

He kept gambling and in the end when he bailed out he wanted as much money back as was possible.

He sold DC a stadium - allegedly worth 80m - for what, 23?

Why did he do that? Because he wanted as much back as possible?

No,  it was because in August 21 he said: OK this has got to stop. Gibson has me over a barrel, he (and the EFl and covid) are stopping me selling the club and making me write monthly cheques in the millions. So here it is: Administration; and I am not putting in another penny.

the 23m went to MSD not MM

Fair point but never mind the EFL and Q, he managed to convince Garry Cook, Paul Stretford and, later on, Rooney.  He even got one of them to lend him some money.

Don’t think CK was doing the persuading. I think it’s more likely that Stretford persuaded CK to buy an English football club (Preston or derby would do), one where Wayne could hone his management skills and continue to earn a hefty salary.

Uncle Paul can’t ask DCFC for the money back, because the FA will b****** him for making a loan to a club.

So he has to say it was a loan to CK (who then funded the club).

Problem is, we’ve heard nothing about a loan agreement between CK and the club. So may not be easy for CK to get the money back given that he pulled his bid

So in summary, that nice man Uncle Paul might just have made a gift of 1.6m to the club.

Well it’s no less that DC deserves

Whilst David Clowes is riding the crest of the fan wave right now, at some point he will dip as the season(s) go on, it’s best not to leave any crumbs that could be used against him further down the line.

Hope people do not turn against him. Would be unfair. He saved our bacon, he’s not after publicity and I don’t think he’ll interfere in football matters. He’s beyond reproach so far as I’m concerned

To be fair it would be a joke if Rooney gets Freedom of the City and David Clowes doesn’t.

Thank goodness the council didn’t buy the stadium there’s no telling where we might have ended up

I’ve come up with a plan which focuses on the health of supporters and the future of this planet. If we want a morally acceptable sponsor, I feel like we should go all the way down that path and be a club that others aspire to be.

    • Remove alcohol, fizzy drinks, burgers, pies and chips from the concourses, replace with water and salads.
    • Advise fans to bring their own reusable water bottle, plate and cutlery as we are reducing plastic usage at the club.
    • Replace the team bus with an electric one with vegan friendly interior.
    • Only allow electric cars in the stadium car parks.
    • Pride Park to be run 100% off solar power, which will mean winter games must be played during daylight hours only. Ticket office hours may also be reduced.
    • All players will be fed a strict vegan diet.
    • Kits and boots must be manufactured in the UK and wash bags brought into the stadium must be vegan friendly.
    • No advertising anywhere around the stadium for gambling, junk food, fizzy drinks, alcohol, online shopping, video games, crypto currency. Car manufacturers can only advertise their electric cars.
    • Ban the use of mobile phones inside and around the stadium.
    • No pre season tours outside of the UK unless travelling through the Euro Tunnel on our electric team bus.

Thank goodness jet setter CK did not take us over

    It's his choice.

Last season lots were saying they wouldn't blame him if he walked away. Now he has done...

Maybe it was his choice, leaving us. We may never know tho it will be interesting to see what the FA investigation throws up

I'm sure he's been training with the rest of the players, just like last year.

He’s a legend so no doubt he’ll be fine. But I had the impression he thought his negotiating position was weakened if he went in. And that he’d therefore been at home on his Wattbike

I seem to recall from that particularly stressful day that he wanted to play ,regardless of his lack of fitness and the possibility of aggravating his previous injury.and that if he did get injured he wouldn’t hold the club accountable. At that moment, for me,he became a Club legend.

It’s excellent news. Unfortunate delay tho - he’s got his work cut out if he’s going to be sharp for Oxford
