Peanuts for a player of potential but better than nowt I suppose.

Also sets the precedent for the eventual resolution of Nathan Byrnes next move.

Problem with Lee is, he’s just not getting any better. We’d have finished higher last season if Instead of being stubborn Rooney had given Fozzy more playing time. Lee sorry to say it is a floppy footballer in defence and when advancing he is more likely to play it backwards than forwards. He has no way of beating a RFB who has any pace.
But don’t blame him for his agent’s antics

Ah a common mistake. The actual phrase is “the love of money is the root of all evil”. Gives it a slightly different meaning ?

If the love of money is the root of all evil,  then isn't money also the root of all evil ?

Also makes no sense that the cap is not dependent on turnover.

I’d have thought projected turnover would have been a big factor in negotiating the cap. You need to know what the cap is at the beginning of the season not the end so would have to be based on projected not actual

So if we have an £8m spending limit per season for 2 years, and IF we were to get promoted this season, the following season in the Championship would be very tough to compete financially

It would be a nice problem to have I guess but puts into context the issues we face & slaps down the other clubs fans who believe we have 'got away with it'.

Makes no sense that the same limit applies in the championship as in L1.  Are we sure that’s right ?

Kirchner spent large on his personal endeavors, including the purchase of a private jet, luxury cars, a membership to an exclusive Dallas-area golf club called the Vaquero, and an unsuccessful attempt to buy the English football team, Derby County. “The lifestyle that he was living just didn’t seem real,” a former Slync employee told Forbes last week.

Meanwhile back in the UK, Insolvency practitioners Quantuma, the EFL and Sports journalist Alan Nixon were unavailable for comment. Nixon was apparently out walking his dog.

The article doesn’t in fact tell us why his funds didn’t clear. But presumably because they weren’t all his.

We’ll never know for sure all the reasons why he was fired. The Forbes allegations one suspects. But another difficult point would have been that he told the EFl he was providing all the funding to buy us and we now know that was not the case.  Will be interesting to see what eventually comes out on that front

I agree with a lot of what you say but I do feel the reason why the women aren’t rolling around on the floor is simply because they haven’t had to endure tackles with any great force.

Men are naturally more athletic. They are much stronger, quicker, aggressive and forceful. Don’t get me wrong some players roll around on the floor from barely a scratch. But the reason why the men’s game has more injuries (and injury stoppages) is the same reason why men’s boxing has more knockouts.

Women’s football definitely has a more family feel. The crowd aren’t aggressive. You can hear during the goal celebrations where it’s a ‘roar’ and often overzealous behavior during men’s football while in the women’s game you can hear it’s more of an excited squeal. It’s great families can feel safer.

As for the officials. I think again it has a family type culture. Way more respect.

There are some pretty aggressive players in this competition. Don’t think Tom Lawrence would have been scoring Popp’s second goal last night, nor Lee Buchanan - they’d have been worried about bumping their heads. But of course you’re right that there is less of the Roy Keane type of psycho-aggression.

you don’t mention ‘simulation’ (cheating) in this post. The refereeing in these euros indicates that the authorities will go to some lengths to keep it out of the women’s game.  Interestingly, there is a different approach in the women’s World Cup , where some of the S American teams in particular behave just like the men and largely get away with it. Will be interesting to see how that develops

    Hypocrisy.

The powers that be won’t take strong measures to rule out swearing by players, aggression, dissent, cheating,  all of which have a profound social effect, especially on kids who love the game and on fans. And the reason they won’t take strong measures is that their revenues rely on the ‘passion’.
And then they pump this out

Of course they should act against criminality. But they should also act against the causes of it

One thing is for sure - if we're getting promoted out of this division we will need to work out how to beat a team that's pressing us.

Our experience at the back should enable us to play out pretty safely once the players get to know each other  - so far it looks like the GK might be the least effective. As for our own press, we used a high press well last season but only for a game or two  (Plange, Knight and Tommo were the most effective I think). But most of last season involved a lot of wasted energy as players raced around in an uncoordinated, headless chicken half press which rarely troubled anyone.
Havent watched much div 1 football for a long time but I’d think few teams will manage a good, coordinated press against us. And that if we can organise one well - in midfield or high - it will cause chaos. But I think it’s hard to do especially if you’ve got a few senior citizens on the pitch

It took the best part of 2 seasons for him to realise he was crossing the ball to Waghorn, Baldock and Plange rather than Keiffer Moore.

Byrne's Championship best being 1 goal and 8 assists, but his best for us was just 4 assists. Bogle's debut season was 2 goals and 10 assists, and still got 1 goal and 5 assists (6 in all competitions) in a season which we largely struggled.

Bogle was also impacted by having a different RCB next to him every week in that 19/20 season. Keogh, Bielik, Evans, Wisdom, Davies... just not anywhere near enough consistency to work on that partnership. For Byrne's first season it was Wisdom at RCB nearly every week, then last season it was Jagielka or Davies.

all fair points - the point about partnerships is well taken. But the stats only take you so far. I reckon Byrne makes excellent decisions in possession, better than Bogle, and I don’t think there’s a stat that tests that. In the same way there’s not a stat that shows that Lee Buchanan is a floppy footballer

I get that but Bogle sometimes looked like the best player on the pitch when Mount, Wilson and Tomori were on the pitch.

Obviously not as consistent, hence it only being “sometimes” but if push came to shove, I’d take Bogle over Byrne.

Fair enough. But worth noting that Byrne has a fabulous cross on him, with both feet. If we’d had Derek Dougan in the box two seasons ago he’d have been leading the league in assists

Please, please, PLEASE, stop rattling on about TUPE until there are actually any facts out there to suggest this is a bloody TUPE matter.

Don’t know what their contractual justification is. But the fact there was a transfer of an undertaking suggests it might be a TUPE matter.
It also doesn’t seem terribly likely that the club’s right to exercise the option would be impacted by administration, particularly if the EFL registered it

I honestly think after reading that article, that he has transferred the money out his company "investing" account, of which he only has access.

He's got this money sitting in his account or a holding account which he has shown as proof

He's gone to transfer millions, money laundering has asked more questions, he's got cold feet as its not really his own personal wealth.

I think his crypto story is fabricated as he knows it's impossible for anyone to verify it.

On this basis he likely goes to prison

Again, it wasn't Slync buying us. Their balance sheet would have no bearing on his takeover attempt

Sure it’s nothing to do with the slync balance sheet. But the valuation of slync (one would have been agreed amongst the investors) would be important to q/efl, because it’s a major factor in ascertaining CK’s wealth (because he’s a major shareholder).

That valuation would be mostly driven by projected turnover and earnings.
The Forbes article suggests current turnover might have been overstated so there’s every chance the investors provided funding based on an inflated valuation.

I said in a previous post...that the internet is a wonderful tool for + or - projects, It's documented that large companies were chucking his company millions of $s, I assume they went into the companies bank account, A simple print off with references, Bank statements, Company credentials, All the things that's needed to move forward, It's been said that Q, EFL and even Nixon "SAW THE FUNDS" what did they see...£23million pounds stacked against a wall or a bank statement saying there's money there and has been transferred.

Now for an old timer like me I can struggle with the intricacies of the Internet, But there's organisations out there...legitimate/illegal that can produce miracles out of thin air.

My question is this...what did the 3 above see?

for ‘proof of funds’ maybe he gets Goldman to confirm he is a major shareholder in a company worth 100s of millions ? And maybe that was done in December

As for the cash actually required for the purchase, we’ve got no reason to think the cash wasn’t sent. What we don’t know is whether any of the cash came from eg  slync or from Stretford. If it had all come from CK, you wouldn’t think there’d have been a problem with AML

  15. Not clear yet that he’s a crook. Key question is whether he used Slync funds for personal benefit. All the Forbes talk about him having sole control of the company investment account points to fingers in the till.  We’ll see - I guess he goes to jail in that case

If he didn’t embezzle, the question then is whether the slync product is a winner, ie whether investors will continue to support the business. Dunno where this stands  But if they do continue to invest,  he might be sacked as an employee and if he remains  his role is bound to change. His antics will have significantly changed the economics of the next round of funding - so his shareholding will be diluted. Costly. Maybe Mike Ashley will step in and buy slync on the cheap ?

The private jet was a sign that even though he was a mere multi millionaire, he wanted to act like a billionaire - instead of wanting to work hard to ensure he became one.

Not sure where you are deriving your straw poll to say Rooney did a great job at Derby?

Off the pitch he treated all the staff affected with empathy and it's obvious his core values align to behaving towards people in the right manner and being respectful of them.

On the pitch he did OK with the resources he had at his disposal, not going to say anything more about that, and our away record quite rightly draws scrutiny.

Don’t get me wrong, I thought he was good in some areas, and weak in others

But literally every football fan I speak to, when I tell them who I support, tells me what a great job Rooney did for us. It’s like he’s Judy Dench, or the Queen

Play offs, I think, though it's hard to say.

The continued brilliant support of the fans and the determination of the players to regain our place in the championship should make the difference this season. I think our sense of injustice will continue to give us an edge.

Yes I went for play offs. As you say the fan base gives us a real advantage. So if we make the play offs I reckon we’re favourites for promotion

In all honesty...that's chump change for WR, What will be his Tax status in the USA?, Has he still a home there?, Would there be bonuses?

I’d think WR is not focused on his salary at DC at all, but that he is focused on finding a long term career as a manager, not least because punditry is not his thing. If he’s out of work for a while there’s no guarantee he’ll get back in the flow. Popular opinion says he did a great job at Derby. Not at all clear the football establishment shares that view

Nobody was 'turned on' for having doubts about Kirchner, or sensibly voicing them.

I pointed out how bizarre it was that a CEO of a VC backed business was spending so much time on his hobbies, and I wondered aloud what his investors were smoking. I was ridiculed
