  1. According to Alan Nixon in today Sun quotes the following Sunsports understands an independent disciplinary appeals is ready to come down in favour of EFL who have refused to accept defeat in the cash row. The charges were dismissed by first independent disciplinary commission in August 2020, but with several clubs angered by the outcome the EFL appealed. Top sources claim the decision had already been taken but was kept secret as Derby fought for championship survival. It then goes on to say that Mel Morris club could be hit with a points deduction next season that runs into double figures. Similar to Sheffield Wednesday this season.

  2. Mel Morris do the honourable thing and get rid of this  charlatan( ALONSO) who obviously is no good for our club. I know you want to sell our club as soon as possible but please think of what you are doing. If possible try and see if Peter Gadsby maybe interested in a local bid, people like the fake sheik and Alonso are making our club the laughing stock of English football.

Do you understand the implications of going into administration?

How do you think MM would benefit from it?

I get the impression Morris couldn't give a damn about the club, when was the last time he showed any interest in the club?

Even that might be tricky. It would mean administrations, as the club, the ground and the academy are all separate companies and the catering/hospitality is 50% owned by Delaware North. Each of these companies is owned by other companies.

Kieran Maguire suggested that administration might be good in the long term as it would slash debts and allow a brutal restructuring. Ultimately, it would attract a better buyer. He forgot to mention the 12 point deduction. Even worse if we fail the next P&S round.

A very sad day if it gets to that. But we can't keep going from these chancers wanting to buy the club.

I’m actually quite relieved. The bloke struck me as an absolute chancer from the very beginning.

Yes I agree with you there but where does it leave us as a club with regards to who is going to takeover the club? Morris as had enough and could just go into administration.

I thought 2020 was a tough year, 2021 has been absolutely mental so far.

5 weeks ago my brother-in-law committed suicide and then last week my wife lost our baby whilst 4 months pregnant and we spent a rough couple of days in hospital having to still give birth. Tough times.

I was at least hopeful Wayne Rooneys Rams would cheer me up slightly on the Saturday, but it wasnt to be.

My escapism has always been the Rams, but at the minute it's like going on holiday to Normanton to get away from it all.

Really sorry to hear your news.

Absolutely! A lot of folk thought Danny Ricciardo would give Lando plenty to think about, but Ricciardo seems to have jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire.  He's certainly getting absolutely roasted by Lando, who seems to have the same freakish ability that we see from Hamilton, that is the ability to drive right on the ragged edge over a sustained period of time without errors. It's such a rare skill-set, even at the elite level at which these guys ply their trade.

Have to say, I'm also loving seeing the McLaren team car looking properly racy again!

Yes me to, must admit when Lando went to McLaren didn't expect much from him but his been brilliant last season and start of this year, hope it continues.

There's no one to touch Hamilton right now and he'll retire before anyone does. I initially thought that Verstappen would run him close but every time Hamilton is threatened, he simply finds another gear. Far from feeling the pressure, the lad absolutely thrives on it and that's a pretty rare thing, even in F1.

Hugely talented as Verstappen is, I think the next most naturally gifted driver on the grid is another Englishman, namely Lando Norris, What he is doing with that McLaren beggars belief and I think he's nailed on to win a WDC once Lewis moves on. If I were Toto, I'd be moving heaven and earth to get him on a pre-contract as he's streets ahead of George Russell.

You are so right been really impressed with Lando. It's fantastic to see another talented Brit on the grid.

I'm a massive Lewis fan, but Verstappen is good enough to win a championship and has a car good enough to win a championship this year so it is going to be good season hopefully. I laughed out loud when Hamilton just went round the outside of Bottas, there's stamping dominance then there's pulling that kind of move....no need for team orders at Merc.

Good drives from Perez (bit dull but went very long on the mediums), Norris, Ocon, Alonso, Mick Schu (Haas not last!).

Bad drives from Kimi (dur), Sainz (I rate him, but been poor last 2 races).

Vettel gets a gold star for trying hard and finishing ahead of Stroll.

Good points I agree Verstappen is good enough to be world champion just needs to cut out little mistakes and without a doubt he and Lewis are the best drivers out there. Been impressed with Lando Norris could be a future champion.

  10. Lewis Hamilton was majestic yesterday in Portugal, showed both Bottas and Verstappen the sign of the 7 times world champion he is, totally dominated the race once he cleared both cars and they had no answer to him. Bottas isn't good enough for that Mercedes car and needs to be replaced next season. Can't wait for Spain next week for the next race but I will say Verstappen is a fantastic driver and I think this championship could go down to the last race.

Mel has invested well over £100 million in the club since he assumed overall control, the basic business of the  club, is in my opinion not in a mess, we have a great ground , great academy and the commercial side of the businesses is very well run which as a previous tenant of an executive box at the ground I have very good first hand knowledge of.

What is an issue is the unrealistic expectations and  demands of a supporter base that expects the rams to win every game and if that does not happen to get their pitchforks out to drive the owner/manager/players out of the club/town. I believe the squandering of Mel's cash was a direct result of that pressure and the decisions of some previous senior executives.

I would repeat what I have said before be careful what you wish for, because because both the fake sheik and the Alonso guy look far worse custodians of the club than Mel Morris, If I was Mel and getting this level of abuse I would liquidate and take whatever cash I could and spend the rest of my days with my feet up.

You have your opinion I've got mine which is totally different to yours.

To go into administration the business (club) must be in a position where it cannot pay its bills as they fall due, to carry on trading past this point is illegal. Only the directors can put the business into administration, creditors cannot, they can only ask for a winding up order. As Mel is the largest creditor through his loans to the club, I do not see how it is in his financial or personal interests to put the club into administration. However if he runs out of cash and cannot support the club anymore, then of course he could wind the club up himself as the largest creditor and recover whatever he can from the business.

That's a fair point, but even you must admit the club is in one hell of a mess because of the way Morris as run it over the last couple of years?

Natalie Jackson was on East Mids Today a while back saying that an insider had told her that the club “is in a mess” (you don’t say). Also that they are “frightened to death” of what could happen should we go down. Very pessimistic stuff.

Yes I seen that tonight and could well believe her.

  14. Steve McClaren is expected to leave his role as technical director at Derby if the proposed takeover by Erik Alonso is ratified by the EFL. According to the Daily Mail in Skysports paper talk.

Wouldn’t have a clue what sort of team or squad we would have on the first day of the season in League 1...

Well we need to see who owns the club, Morris or Erik the Spaniard, plus we don't know how much we can trust him at present. We don't know what investment will come into the club to buy players. Or is it a carry on of been skint.

Or like Hull Leicester Blackburn Southampton (took them 2 seasons) City (yes they were down there).
If we go down we will be one of the favourites for promotion. We shouldn’t assume we’ll come straight back but we shouldn’t assume we’ll be down there for years either.

But we are not down yet.

Also mate if we did go down every team in that division would treat playing us like a cup final. Why should you be so arrogant to presume we would be favourites?

  17. 24 minutes ago, LondonRam2 said:

    Oh dear.

So now we need 2 wins and a draw from the last 4 to reach the magic 50.

We now have to hope that:

    (a) 46 or 47 points will be enough (1 win and 1 draw from 4 games is still possible I think)

    (b) Rotherham fail to capitalise on the games in hand

    (c) the other teams around us all draw with each other and all lose to the higher placed sides

Let's also console ourselves by reflecting on the fact that in recent years quite a few big clubs have dropped into L1, come storming back, and are now in the PL or Championship.  If that were to happen then we wouldn't be the first 'big' club to do that and probably not the last.

Maybe there'd also be a healing effect to be had from a season of (hopefully) mostly winning rather than mostly losing, with a new line up of hungry, fit, ambitious players (and a proper pre season) looking to make their mark or prove themselves, talent that we could really get behind, explore some unfamiliar places (anyone here ever been to Accrington? me neither LOL) and in some cases outnumber the home supporters.  A successful L1 campaign might then provide the springboard for a subsequent Championship to PL promotion push, in the style of Bournemouth & Sheff Utd for example.

Mel tried to buy us promotion and we got very close but in the end it didn't work.  Whatever league we end up in come August, maybe it's time to try a different way based mostly on home grown talent, of which we have an abundance, plus Wazza using his contacts to find us another Mount & another Tomori on loan, plus a few shrewd purchases.  Too often in recent years we have spent £10 million buying 5 journeymen when we should have instead spent that money on 2 proven match winners.

Adam Bolder made an interesting point last night on the radio.  Even in L1, there must be many young players out there who would jump at the chance to work with Wazza, we would just need to find them.

Footie to me is about roots and identity and loyalty.  Any fool can 'support' a team that's rich &/or successful.  We're all here because that kind of fickleness is not for us.  Once a Ram always a Ram, simple as that.

Roll on next season, and wherever we end up let's sell out all the home games and out-sing the home fans wherever we go away from home.

Having said all that I still believe we can avoid the drop.

da da     da daaaaaaaa da da da          da daaaaaaaaa da da daaaaaaa da daaaaaaaa (Great Escape tune)...

We could also end up like Sunderland, Ipswich and Portsmouth similar clubs like ours in size and support who have struggled to get out of League 1.

  18. On current form we deserve to be relegated to League 1 we are a crap team with a very inexperienced manager and coaching team, we have a owner who hasn't been interested in us for 2 seasons and who's legacy will be he took us to League 1. After 46 games the championship table doesn't lie and if were in the bottom 3 then we only have the team/manager/owner to blame. I for one after 50 years of supporting the club through good and bad times have become totally disillusioned with the club. I can only see 1 win out of the last 4 games against Sheffield Wednesday at the last game of the season and by then it maybe to late. Preston, Birmingham, Swansea defeats.
