As disappointing as that is, it isn't luck, Buchanan should score. Just gutting really. I really expected better tonight. I really hope we don't descend into the form we were in back end of last year but it is very concerning at the moment.

Happens a lot in the premier league now as well unfortunately. The ref's can't do anything about it as they can't prove the player isn't injured. In other countries it's just classed as game management, (time wasting, saving energy, getting tactics across, not let opposition get any rhythm). Seems to have come into our leagues, probably because of the high number of foreign players now in the leagues.
In England this type of game management is seen as a little unsporting, but abroad it's just part of the game.

Chances created is okay, it's basically just a pass that ends in a shot. Best one readily available in the Championship is xA (expected assists) as it also measures the quality of the chance created. xT (expected threat) is also decent but it's not available for the Championship.

I think any criticism is very much the minority view. Rooney's loyalty to this club won't be forgotten by most & quite rightly so.
As someone who was scathing about Rooney last year, I think there's been real improvement this season. The style of play is much better & the resilience of the team that he sends out has been borderline heroic given the appalling circumstances. And as you rightly say, his profile & reputation are actively helping to attract investors & players who wouldn't have looked at us otherwise.
Not to say he can't be criticised at all, I was there Saturday & we were pulled apart first half but those days happen. Overall the trendline suggests we're getting better. Wouldn't worry about the detractors, they'll always be around but he's going nowhere this season unless he decides he's had enough.

Agreed. Think they've been brilliant this season, apart from a very small minority at some away games.

i think that time has been and gone im afraid. The position we're in now means we are stuck with Wayne till the end. Weather thats staying up or getting relegated, there's no changing now.

He has more stamina and a better work rate. That's why he makes the runs and closes down.
