Chris_Martin reacted to hydraulic ram in A little note to the team
No idea if anyone from the club reads this forum, but after Saturday I have to remind the team of something they maybe don't see so clearly. I'm not a great motivation guy like @B4ev6is but I'll give it a try!
OK, no doubt enough has been said about Saturday. Its gone and that's it. But this club still has its destiny in it's own hands and there's something else. This team has an opportunity that is a rare as hen's teeth - this team could reach the status of legendary.
The chance to become a club legend is something a player may see maybe once in a career - if they are lucky. Plenty of great players never reach that level, they are remembered dimly after they move on - but legends, now they are always in the fans minds. Its a simple fact, become a legend, get footballing immortality.
If this team pulls off the impossible escape from the drop they achieve legend status, and some. Not only do they get the accolade this year, but this team would also irritate the EFL at the highest level, they would be remembered with pain by the teams they relegate for years, they would get so far up the red dogs noses they wont stop moaning about it for decades, for heavens sake if this team survives they give a level 11+ butt-hurt to a certain Middlesbrough owner - surely that level of legend is worth any amount of effort and application.
Its your big chance, it's all down to you, no one else. Theres plenty of games and the points can be yours. We the fans will support long, loud and proud, but you need to do the stuff on the grass - grab every single point you can, even if its a pain and a struggle. If you can't win, keep a draw, if you are heading for a point, push for three. Don't be satisfied with "also ran" and grab your chance at immortality with two hands!
Play for that status because quite simply - you won't get a better chance of getting it. And if you do it, you won't be forgotten - this club has a long memory.
Be remembered as the Rams legends who did not give up despite it all, not forgotten as the relegation squad.

I’d probably go something very similar, although I’d have Lawrence central behind two up top - Kazim & Stretton. Rest of the personnel probably the same.

Selection problem for Roonet if Knight is still 'ill'. 3 of our first 4 CMs out, leaving Ravel and Watson as the only real options there. JBrown could be drafted in, but he's spent the season training as a CB.
To maintain a bit of balance we must go 3/5 at the back without Knight.
Roos
Jagielka Davies Forsyth
Byrne Ravel Bird Buchanan
Sibley Lawrence
Kazim
Subs: Allsop, Festy, Stearman, Williams, Watson, Jozwiak, Baldock

I'm assuming Knight is still injured so would go:
Roos
Jags Davies Fozzy
Byrne Morrison Bird Buchanan
Ebosele CKR Lawrence
Really need to win this one, come on lads! ?

What would indicate a good defence then if not goals conceded?

You missed our best chance then which he created. Ravel and Lawrence were just as poor if not poorer but jozwiak is the scapegoat.

Chris_Martin reacted to Gaspode in Rams vs Blackburn Matchday Thread
Said this at the game - the defence look calm and composed with Allsop behind them because they pretty much know what he's going to do (with the exception of dropping the ball) - they look shakey with Roos in goal because they don't have a clue what he's going to do and because he doesn't command his area. The differences in shot stopping ability may favour Roos, but that's not all that a keeper has to do - if the defence are nervous/affected by him being there then Allsop wins out every time.....

Roos is just an error waiting to happen for me. His performance probably averages a 5 or 6 out of 10 most games but people seem to think he's better because he is a good shot stopper and has made some big saves at important moments. Big saves are all that people remember from matches, but there is so much more to being a good GK than just shot stopping.
Whilst Allsop is not really much better, he seems to be a more consistent 7 out of 10 most games. I think with Allsop's ability the ceiling is probably lower, but the floor is definitely higher.
Is it a coincidence we have started conceding goals again since Roos came back into the team?

His positioning was totally off for the 2nd goal - beaten at his near post.

Yes, I was adding the 2nd to show his positioning in general isn't what it should be.

We don't play a flat back four though. The full backs are pushed really high up, it's more like a flat back 2. That's why I was thinking playing 3 at the back might be better as we would still be able to push the full backs on, but would have an extra player at the back so we're not as vulnerable.

Don’t like the look of the defence, Id stick with a flat back for and wouldn’t swap Roos out.
However I like the idea of playing one or as you suggest two players off Kaz, Lawrence and/or Sibley would be the best options there.
I’d also have a midfield three of Shinnie, Bird, Knight when all three are available.

Why is everyone slating Jozwiak for todays game?
Yes he was poor 1st half, but so was the entire team!
We only had one decent chance 1st half, which he created, running to the by-line and crossing in for Sibley to mess up.
Don't get why he seems to be the scapegoat every time.

that's not his game though, he is more of a run in behind, counter attacking type player. It just seems like a waste why we keep making him play this way.
