Marshall - 6     Not much to do really, decent distribution
McDonald - 6     Looks promising, better going forward than defensively, decent back up to Byrne
Forsyth - 6     His mistake for the goal, was very good 2nd half though
Wisdom - 6     good passing out from the back, helped McDonald & Ebosele through the game too
Mengi - 6     Seems to be getting better every game, but still one or two mistakes in him
Roberts - 7     probably our best player today, skilful, lively, can beat a defender
Bird - 6     Did everything right today apart from the final pass or shot which he weirdly managed to get wrong every single time
Shinnie - 6     Solid, good all round game, unlucky with the bounce at the end
Jozwiak - 5     Got in some great areas & made some very good runs. Always had 3 defenders on him though and made wrong decisions
Lawrence - 6     probably our most likely scorer along with Roberts, tried hard, dangerous on counter attack, poor set pieces though
CKR - 5     Physical & strong but offers very little movement, worked hard

it has happened to some, but it has also been the other way round where players have been better here than elsewhere. Tom Ince being a perfect example.
It all just depends on the management/coaching at the club at that time.

As much as i have loved him at times this season, CKR is the weak link in that for me. He offers zero movement and his constant shouts for a long ball actually ruin our attacks. All our other players are suited to quick play ball into feet.
That being said there were no other options, but i think it helps highlight the type of striker we need to be signing in the summer.

    Results:
Under Cocu - it's all the manager's fault.
Under Rooney - it's injuries and the quality of the squad.
I think the phrase "double standards" springs to mind.

Lawrence, Sibley and Jozwiak have more natural ability than most players in this division, Marshall and Byrne are above average Championship players, Clarke is one of the best CB's in the league, Knight's been linked with PL teams a few times. Even players like Gregory have proven they are at least mid table quality in the past.
Many of the games when we've played CKR, Waghorn's been available. Player's don't just turn bad overnight, he's proved he's a decent player before. He didn't play because you can't just hoof the ball up to him like with CKR, he's a more technical player where you need more intricate tactical knowledge to get the best out of him, which our coaches don't seem to have.
I'm not saying we have have the quality to win the league, I'm saying they have enough to not be in a relegation battle.

Most those injuries have only just happened in the last 2 games. I've tried to explain in my last 5 replies to you where I think the quality is. I don't know what else I can say 😆

What quality? 😄 There was Colin & Tom. Waghorn couldn't be bothered. Lawrence has been injured and so now is Colin. Gregory is also injured, so is Stretton.

so what were Lawrence & Waghorn doing under Lampard then?

Stats wise yes, but that was because he was playing in CAM a lot. His overall play was better under Lampard.

That's 6 player's you've gave reasons for, and that's not including players like Holmes and Paterson. for me that's too much of a trend. I especially don't agree with the Bird, Knight and Sibley reason.
and why are they all attacking players? I wouldn't say any of the defensive players have got worse under Rooney(they did under Cocu). I just think Cocu and Rooney don't have the attacking tactical knowledge, or at least they didn't/aren't showing it. Our attacking play is worse than the quality we have. I think Lawrence and Waghorns best seasons were under Lampard, not stats wise but overall play, they looked like they enjoyed playing then, they've looked miserable the last 2 seasons, Lawrence barely celebrates when he score. It wouldn't surprise me if they both were desperate to leave and I wouldn't blame them.

Lawrence's best season was under Cocu last year... but don't let facts get in the way

Fairly sure the point is that Dowell is a decent player as proven now at Norwich and that the reason he wasn't here is because of the management not the player.
Same with others like Waghorn, Lawrence, Jozwiak, they have proven to be good players but this management has not got it out of them yet.

Yes Waghorn was better in his last game but we've all seen him play better than that under Lampard, same with Lawrence.
Jozwiak we have also seen play very well for Poland.
My point is that a great manager finds a way to get the best out of the players he has and i'm not sure Rooney is doing that yet.

Ok I was probably over the top with "one of the best players", but my point was he's performed significantly better than when he was with us.

So that's the coaches fault then? He did get many chances and it never worked.
My general point is there's a trend over the last 2 seasons of players (especially attacking players) performing worse than they've shown they can in past seasons. Why are Waghorn and Lawrence so much worse than they were under Lampard? I understand your point about them playing with Mount and Wilson improving them, but is it not more to do with intricate attacking tactics? e.g. runs off the ball, movement, counter attacking etc...
A simple example is: I'm fairly confident if Sibley, Dowell and Clarke replaced Wilson, Mount and Tomori in Lampards team had he stayed we'd still be doing better than we are now, obviously there not as good as them 3, but we'd still be doing better.

Why not just play The sound of Silence? I mean literally, not Simon & Garfunkel. Although both would match the current mood.

good point. It really suits our other players to keep the ball on the ground but with him in the team he often cries out (literally) for a long ball up to him which usually ruins our attacks.

I don't understand your logic. So a good player is only good when they play with other good players? Were Lawrence and Waghorn only good at Ipswich because they were playing with better players? Is Clarke now a bad player because he plays with other bad players? how many "good players" do you need in a team to make the other players "good"?
A list of players who've played better for another club or there country:
    Marshall - Scotland
    Jozwiak - Poland
Lawrence - Ipswich (or under Lampard)
Waghorn - Ipswich (or under Lampard)
    Roberts - Celtic
added to Shinnie, Clarke and Byrne who are the only players to perform this season,
that's 8 players, is 8 good players enough? or were they only good players then because they were playing with other good players?😅

no but if you read the news that a takeover is imminent you will hope we are able to move players on scout better and we can get behind team manager and club if we are top 6 next season under him the people who only see short term will be hiding. if we are bottom half he will be gone and Lampard will be back.
