  1. Sorry, another thread from me after watching my first live game on a couple years….

One thing I noticed on Saturday was the level of time wasting that the Blackburn players did. Every time someone went down two physios (why two?) trotted onto the pitch. They treated the “injured” player for at least a minute, probably two or three and then trotted off whilst the other players hung around waiting.

On one occasion, early in the second half, Sam Gallagher was down for probably three minutes apparently being treated. Meanwhile many of the Blackburn players were getting told by their manager what to do about Derby’s new formation. So much so that one guy (their left back) got waved over - clearly hadn’t realised the tactic - to get further instructions on what to do. For me as a fan it was infuriating that the referee did very little about it until very late on and I’m sure that the five minutes of extra time was not nearly enough against the level of time wasting.

I guess if it was Derby doing it then I’d turn a blind eye to it, but I really think that the football authorities need to look very hard at this gamesmanship and start handing  out bookings for obvious time wasting in future.

Just my view. Perhaps it’s just sour grapes?

I was going to ask how accurate that bolded statement is... is it anywhere in the rules that clubs that go into admin don't have to submit P&S filings to the EFL? And if there is, isn't there a penalty for not doing so (i.e. transfer embargo)?

I'd also understood that we have submitted the accounts for the requested period back in August - @Malty, are you referring to the seasons yet to be submitted which could result in additional sanctions?

I'd be hugely surprised if we don't have to submit accounts, both for the non-linear amortization period and the subsequent ones which aren't yet due.

Ah yes. You may be right. Mel may have sent revised accounts to the efl. The point that is true is that we no longer have any obligation to file accounts with companies house. Whether there is any loophole we could exploit around the accounts not being submitted to companies house and therefore the accounts we have submitted to the efl is no longer valid according to league rules I don’t know. But I suspect this would be a weak argument in a court of law and perhaps therefore it’s wishful thinking to be trying to wipe off or reduce those points.

in conclusion perhaps those points - whatever they may are - might be ones we have to suffer. But the positive is that these still aren’t agreed and I believe could still be open to negotiation.

For what it's worth if Nixon is right (if) I reckon the EFL is in a tizzy because they believed the 12 points to be the nearest to automatic they could get. They now face the real prospect imo of the sanction being reduced and, get this, they can't appeal as things stand. Serves em right!

Yes, this could be a positive. i.e. we have a real chance of winning our appeal and the EFL have to get their own rules changed quickly to stop an avalanche of clubs going into administration and claiming force majeur as well.

they have to act quickly to change their own rules accordingly. Meanwhile Derby could actually “get away with it” and be successful on appeal … then ironically support the EFL when they propose a rule change to stop other teams doing the same.

The other irony is that Derby seem to have been the master of identying loopholes and being successful in exploiting them (with the possible exception of amortisation). This one they could have been successful in almost by chance rather than design!!

I have half a mind that in a week or so’s time our points deduction will change to minus 6 … then it’s a case of arguing the other points deduction ….

… and by the way on the other front we have no obligation to file accounts for the previous company that is now in administration … and therefore the efl can’t very easily prove that we have failed prs. Unless of course we decide to be really nice and present them with revised accounts … but why would we do that?

We might get away with minus 6 only. now wouldn’t that be brilliant!

Thoroughly dishonest and dishonourable, but still brilliant!!

Folks near us pop out to one of the vans for chips at half time. Not sure how many of those there are around the ground?

Anyway, if you buy stuff on the concourse it benefits the club directly.

I think the club didn’t do too bad out of us Angie. On Friday we were in the club shop buying an away top for me and a third version of my son. That plus tickets, plus the half time snacks. They did ok! Hopefully money we’ll spent, but can’t help but feel that a good chunk of income is going directly to the administrators! They’re not cheap! Anyhow, it was gladly given. I was just happy to be there … with or without the program and chips!!

Yep, changed to a monthly magazine which is still for sale outside the ground and covers multiple games.

Such a Shame. I probably should have bought one of those for us. I guess they must have a lot of waste on match day programs which is why they stopped them? Plus I guess they are becoming less popular than they used to be as everyone can get up to date news and team news on smart phones.

  6. I took my son to his first game since before covid this Saturday.

Shame about the result, but the rams did ok second half and made it interesting at least.

However the highlights for an 11 year old very much include the half time chips and of course a program to remember the day.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed that both seem to be missing from the match day experience.

I’m not knocking what DCFC do and I completely understand financial pressures, but it would be nice to know what has happened to both?!!

I still managed to spend nearly a tenner on drinks and maltesers  at half time !!

Are we allowed to bring Thompson on ?

I wondered why he wasn’t playing for the under 23s. So that now makes sense.

But I’m  sure you’re right, we can’t play him. Unless something has changed? Communication has improved recently, but maybe they missed telling us something?

  8. So it’s not been a good year so far for the academy teams. I was wondering why this is. We had quite a few players leave and obviously have a lot in and around the first team squad that would do otherwise be playing in a lower age group.. But still, I’m wondering what effect our embargo is having … we can only sign scholars, right? No one on a professional contract so if we scout out a good young talent, we can’t actually sign them. Meanwhile our better younger players have left us … Gordon, delap, brown to name three. Possibly for financial reasons?

So my thinking is that this embargo is not just having an impact on our first team but also on our young teams … and frankly that doesn’t quite seem right. We’re punished via points and embargo in our first team and also in our youth teams.

  9. I can see both sides here. Sometimes his decision making seems reallly poor. He’ll turnaround when he has options ahead and it’ll end back at the goalie from a Promising attacking position. Other times he’ll do a trick or move past someone like they’re not there and setup an attack or a shot.

I can’t help but feel we’re a much better side with him in it and I just wonder if max bird has benefited enormously from having ravel with him in the midfield. For me max has improved massively this year and is starting to fulfill his promise.

im not sure I believe all this about him not being fit to play the full 90 minutes. I just think Wayne seems insistent on subbing him off after 70 minutes. I recall Baiano had the same thing, (anyone remember him, one of the best players I’ve ever seen in a Derby shirt) he always subbed off after 70 minutes. I didn’t  get it then and I don’t get my it with ravel now to be honest.

…. And why oh why doesn’t he wear the number 4 shirt? RAV4. It’s a no brainier.

We've only fallen behind 3 times in the league, and 2 of those times were in the final 5 minutes of games.

Edit: we did come from 2 down to win against Salford in the cup if that counts.

Yes, it’s a bit of a non story. Perhaps I should apply for a job with the telegraph?

  11. Might not be an appropriate time to mention it, but we’ve just had the one so far this season … but then again we haven’t scored or conceded too many so difficult to get an equaliser when that’s the case.

Fingers crossed if Luton score on Tuesday we can chalk a second one up this year!!
