Prims used to train and play at the Ramarena, if they left the boiler room open we would nip in and “borrow” the training kit I’d always try and get bobby Davison,s kit. I’d struggle to get in John Robertson’s kit now

I played with gaz,bob and ray Lewis at prims, Les Wright from prims also played for Derby reserves in the 70,s
in the 80,s borrowash Vics had some lads play for the reserves, Ian grostate and Paul turner and maybe some others, having been associated with prims since 1981 I don’t like saying good things about vics?

Mick Coop was the worst player I’ve seen play for Derby, that’s saying something when I’ve seen Caskey and Greenwood play for us as probably the worst striking partnership ever to play in top flight football

Yes would be fair to say this.
However it's obvious still at this juncture that some folks still cannot bring themselves to admit that the ruination of the club and its near disappearance was down to the stewardship of one person and one person alone.

It surprises me that people actively want to hold onto something that's dune and dusted and will only eat away at them.
    Accepting it is accepting reality.

DCFC under MM and the EFL. Two badly run organisations colliding; unfortunately one is beholden to the other.
We didn't need to be put into the position we were put in, regardless of how utterly incompetent and vindictive the EFL was during and after. It was a situation of our own making initially.
For me, this starts and ends with Mel Morris. Without him, his attitude and the way he ran the club, we wouldn't have even crossed the EFL's path in the way we did.

I’ve given it a lot of thought - the creditors that were stuffed, the football staff that were laid off, the young jewels we had to sell for pennies, the 8 months of worry for the fans, the ridicule, the relegation, the squad being reduced to 6 pro’s on the books, the diet of League 1 football - but boy that one evening in Leeds back in 2019. You know what it was worth it all. Lovely to have you back Curtains.

Of course we all wanted signings, but we were being duped into believing all was rosey, and well within our means.
I doubt we'd have been so keen, had we have known where we were heading!
Look back at any one of those fans forums Mel was inviting us all to.  Mistaken info, or bare faced lies?  I have no idea.  Maybe it was somewhere in between?
Maybe Mel himself didn't realise just how close we were sailing into the wind, but some could argue that, for a man in his position, he should have been fully aware?  ?‍♂️

Strangely, it may well have all been a blessing in disguise. I feel more confident about Derby today than I have for a long time, and more aligned to the values of the club. We were a gnats todger away from going under, but we didn't and while many local businesses got hit in the process (which is genuinely sad) we are here to fight another day. There will be another, and another, club that gets itself into the pickle that we, Bolton, Leeds and others have done - a couple of them won't be as lucky as us to have someone like Clowes able to help. Maybe when a few of them have ceased to exist people will start to realise what a binfire modern football (and club ownership) is.

    I'm sure that's true.
He's a nice bloke, because he likes to be liked.
He loved the adulation.  The pats on the back.  The "Strings" Memes.  The "One of our own" chants.
Fans forums.  National radio.  Bouncing on Yorkshire football pitches.  Wherever he could get attention, he'd be there.
Wierdly, we hardly ever hear from him nowadys!  ?

...And what about those at DCFC that lost their jobs?  Did he "really look after them", too?  ?‍♂️

He speculated to accumulate and when the gamble didn't pay off, he refused to pay the bills. He refused to pay the HMRC, where money goes to schools, hospitals and pensioners.
Many of the embargo rules particularly in reference to young players are OTT, but don't be coming on here and say MM was treated harshly.

I totally agree but Forest Green couldn't play through our press.  West ham could.  That shouldn't surprise anyone.
Whatever you think of their performances this year west hams players are miles better than ours.   Better technically, fitter, faster, stronger.
The timing of the goals meant they were able to sit back and keep us at arm's length.   It didn't look great for us and we never looked like laying a glove on them but you can't just put that on our players.  The quality of the opponent comes into it too.
