Shame there isn’t an academy thread.?
Getting back to the potential takeover,
Fact : No limits sports ltd have agreed terms to buy DCFC.
Fact: Due diligence has been completed and the SPA signed.
Fact : A deposit has been paid and proof of funds has been seen by Mel’s lawyers.
Fact: We are waiting on EFL approval for the takeover.
    Have I missed anything ?

It's just possible that the investors don't want their names made public until it is all done and dusted....if the rich people want it to be confidential they have every right to their privacy - it realy doesn't matter how nosey Derby fans are or how entitled they feel about being privy to the info...
Pretty sure that Alonso would have to tell the EFL who is providing the money, but no reason at all for that to be public knowledge until it's been rubber stamped......

Because he was asked a question which other teams have you spoken to and he responded with those 2 which he had. Bet if he hadn’t mentioned Cardiff and it came out later some would find a problem with that. There might be issues but  let’s not find them where none are.

With the Sheikh many thought/hoped that he was a billionaire and that very soon we'd be Man City's main rival. It now appears that Alonso is 100% a chancer and we're going to be in the First Division for years to come.
He's stating his ambitions. Time will tell if he's talking out of his arris.

The quote is “we spoke to “ which doesn’t really say entered into discussions. Maybe the response from Cardiff meant he wasn’t inclined to take it further hence no more talks ? You would have thought that he has entered into an NDA with Mel and shown proof of funds. Seems a non story to me

Had a couple of shirts made up using standard Umbro team apparel to mark the achievements of Clough & Taylor and also Dave Mackay, mainly to add a chapter into the book the colours of the Rams if the club and Umbro don’t do something.
we used the basic template matching the 1971/72 shirt and the style of the charity shield shirt badge, on the second shirt we went for the blue and white and the Umbro tapes on the cuffs, both finished off with the blood red no 10 as a nod to the king, also used the Derby County font for the wording.
the cost of these shirts from Umbro was £11.
we then added our design, can’t sell them due obviously to copyright infringement but would be nice if the club could do something similar.

Maybe so, but I honestly don't know anything about the guy, never heard of him or this Matt Southall he is mates with (I thought Southall was an ex- Everton goalie!) These days everyone is an amateur detective and a lot of what I see on twitter and here is a feeding frenzy of trying to find out every possible bad thing about him and condemn him for it.
I don't think football is a democracy, no, in fact if I take a step back I think it is probably run by some people who are pretty corrupt. But I obviously don't care about that enough to boycott it any more than I don't care enough to stop buying stuff off Amazon or watching Sky Sports. So I suck it up and generally keep my mouth shut on this side of the game.
I don't think the comparison with politicians works well. Politicians are publicly elected officials placed there to represent us, but football club owners? No they are the guys with the money and/or the ambition. Football clubs are private companies accountable to shareholders not to fans, who at best are the ever-woolley "stakeholders".
Again, I return to the statement that if you find that morally unacceptable, then walk away from it.
Or at least wait until there is something to be vocal about. There really isn't yet, is there?
You may all be proved right in the long or even the short term, but at least give the guy a chance.
I am not sure the football club owner exists that would meet the exacting standards of some of our fans.

Exactly this. There are no guarantees in football and for every ten investors, only two are "succesful" - if success is measured on a scale of only promotion is good enough.
The other eight aren't all crooks or were rubbish. They just tried and failed.
Overall the last seven years have been more enjoyable on the pitch than they haven't and I like others am just sad that it didn't work out for Mel. Have met him a few times I feel he is a decent guy who only ever wanted the best for this club.
There is no magic formula for success. I have just rewatched the review of the 13/14 season (I know!)
Leeds were in the High Court, look where they are now. Wigan, alternatively, were riding high. Look how divergent their future paths have been.
There's nothing guaranteed in football but we journey with hope, that's what we enjoy.
For those of you that just enjoy wallowing in the misery, this may well have been your season, but beware, things might get better!

I'm a tired middle aged man. I don't have reserves of rage to bring to bear on topics around what might go wrong, or what should have been done. I'm sad that Mel is walking away, sad for us and for him, that the effort in sweat and treasure he's put in to getting us promoted never worked out. Blame him if you want, but few of us could or would have done better. He deserved to sit in the executive box at Old Trafford and The Emirates and watch our team mix it with the best again. I'll always respect him and wish him well.
The new guy is a clean slate, a fresh start. We have a new season over the horizon and if we can just win a couple more games and stay up, positives in the academy and the managers office and hope for the future.
Good luck to him, and I hope the takeover and the relegation battle conclude successfully in this next couple of weeks.
Up the Rams. It's all about the hope.

I think people who just see Rob Dorsetts tweets will think this a young rich lad boasting but actually listening/reading to the interview he comes across quite level headed and ambitious, not boastful.
He hasnt spoken out about the deal itself which is what the statement was about, all he has done is 2 interviews over here where he has outlined his plans which im sure most fans wanted to hear/know. Sounds like the deal is pretty much done anyway.

I keep visiting this thread in the hope of a bit more info but all I find is a group of wusses overreacting to everything that’s been said (or worse, not said but inferred from someone else’s comments).
The majority of folk on this board need to grow a pair (not you @angieram) and stop wetting yourselves at every opportunity. We are where we are - no amount of crying will change that.

We’re all Derby fans - we never have an easy time - it’s in our DNA. Sit back and enjoy the ride - the alternative would almost certainly be administration (or worse)....

Quite common in most clubs. The candidates all had suitable CV’s ... None of us were fundamentally opposed to any of the appointments at the time. We might have had a dislike of either Pearson’s 1970’s PE teacher mode or the razzmatazz of Lampard but they were all typical of football. We have had every variety with the exception of trying to recruit the sort of tough guy agricultural manager with a “proven record” (although Pearson might fit that bill) . where everyone would have moaned about the lack of ambition.
The transfer policy “errors” started with Bryson and Hughes being injured in the same match which lead to panic buying at inflated prices. At the time, these were seen as bold, supportive and positive moves. Your are eating hindsight by the KFC family bucket load.
The financial state of the club ? .. Mel filled it with money .. some spent well, some badly .. We haven’t had a fiscal mismanagement situation or anything “taken” from the club by Mel. We got in a mess on FFP and Mel coughed up by buying the stadium and paying the club money for it.
Sam Rush ? Is Mel really responsible for another man’s ethics ? ( or lack of them ? )
The fiasco ? .. Someone broke their pledges or didn’t meet their obligations .. it wasn’t Mel. Maybe Mel shouldn’t  have trusted them but good business and life is defined by trust. You have to start somewhere. Has anyone thought about Mel here ? He has obviously had some serious health issues yet he hasn’t flinched from being a DCFC man
yes, for sure, be sceptical or wary of new owners, we all are, we care about our club, but Mel has been a straight shooter from day one. Some of the things he’s done or wanted to do didn’t work out but he is trustworthy beyond doubt . Now maybe those he has trusted are sharks .. but that’s a different story.

I cannot believe how you have such a judgmental attitude to a guy who has given his best efforts and a shed load of money to this club. Your judgement is littered with an astounding lack of logical analysis.

He's come out and given a good account of himself so far, therefore I'm going to judge him on his word: by his actions.
If I was to say I'm not convinced by this takeover, I would be massively underselling it. I'm genuinely quite concerned with it all, but IF he's the real deal and his family is as well connected as he makes it seem AND we start to make better decisions from the top down. He has my support. He can make a strong start by gutting the scouting department and investing in resources.
I'm also pleased to see that he vehemently went after the VOX party once that was brought to light. I guess I do find it hard to believe that as a Spanish national who has spent most of his life anywhere but Spain that he would have an issue with immigration. I genuinely hope that puts it to bed.
If he can associate himself with good people then we have a chance, however there is a lot of variables in the above AND I'm not exactly sure how wealthy him or his family are in order to stomach huge losses. Mel Morris quickly got tired of it.
The good news is that the club will own its own stadium again.

Any country as long as the player is good enough and meets the work permit criteria. All that has changed is that all countries are now treated the same (except for additional points given for countries of a higher footballing standard). I'm sure Brentford will continue bringing in players from here there and everywhere so why can't we do the same?

Deporting immigrants who break the law is a standard approach in many countries.
Angela Merkel recently voted against same-sex marriage in the German Parliament, where the ruling party are her Christian Democrats and therefore religiously influenced conservatives.
In my experience it's standard for anyone on the left to label anyone who disagrees with them "far right". It's the nature of the polarized societies we live in, driven in large part by social media algorithms.
I'll judge him as I find him.

Think it’s worth remembering the lad is only 22, moved to another country joining a team that’s struggled whilst bringing through a number of academy players.
Apply some context, not all players hit the ground running.
Maybe if we stick with him, let him settle in, not get on his back (when stadiums reopen) we’ll get to see the best of him?

Not for the first time, I'm with @angieram on this one.
I've supported Derby for over 40 frustrating years, sometimes up, mostly down, and recently I've found myself pondering on what it actually means to support the club.  After all, there is almost no link between the Derby of the late '70s and that of today - not the players, manager, owners; not even the ground.  Perhaps the kit, if you squint in a low light...
I think it was Rowett's preposterous sale of Will Hughes that really crystallised it for me - it's through the development of the club's young players that I most identify with the club.  I really enjoy watching young football players develop; like the vicarious thrill of hearing fans of other teams talk about "that young Derby player" they've seen; even more so when, like Buchanan this season, they show it on a bigger stage.
That's why, after yesterday's disappointment, I found myself looking at other results - Will Hughes at Watford, obviously, but also Jack Stretton at Stockport, Farrend Rawson (& Nigel Clough) at Mansfield, Charles Vernam at Bradford, wondering where JH-I is at Stevenage....  These players (and manager) are always "Derby" to me.
And so, after Rooney's ill-advised public comments about Louie Sibley yesterday, I no longer care whether Rooney goes or stays.  For me, Derby County isn't about Wayne Rooney, it's about Louie Sibley, Max Bird, Lee Buchanan and the others.   Keep going, boys.

I hope Sibley can take it. It must be very tough for him playing out of position, seeing Watson get praise for being brought in to play centrally when this is Sibley's position but he's never selected to show what he can do there. Yet last season he showed us how good he was playing centrally. It's a very weird one on Rooney's part.
