The irony isn't lost on me that the poster whom has the largest objections to this thread existing at all keeps bumping it so it remains in the forefront of everyone's minds.

No, what the people who set up the petition want is Mel Morris's head on a stick, not "we". There is no "we" in this and the very small number of people who have signed it demonstrates that.
I think the petition says more about those people than it does about Mel Morris and I think the vast majority of us can see that.
If anything it has exposed how ludicrous and over the top some of the criticism is. 

@PistoldPete I can't see anyone openly defending it on here, and the OP isn't exactly promoting it.
Lots of us have said we are against it so if anything the thread is demonstrating that a majority of fans are against signing it.
But we live in a society of free speech and your attempts to close down the discussion because you disagree, are what's causing the thread to keep getting bumped to the top of the board.
If you'd just had your say and left it at that it would be wallowing halfway down page two by now!

The size of the debt isn't the issue here, am sure there a number of other football league clubs with debts of the same order of magnitude it's the fact that their owners didn't welch on their financial responsibilities and do a runner.

All said and done, a significant debt. It's one thing owing millions to club owners, but that's simply not the case with DCFC. The £29m to HMRC is an interesting one, if it's unpaid PAYE & NI. The majority, if not all business's now operate RTI, so effectively the PAYE & NI declaration (FPS) is due on or before the employees payday. The tax is due around a month later (unless paying quarterly). HMRC does not take late payments lightly, so how a business can amass a tax debt of £29m beggars belief. We all have to pay our taxes, whether we agree or not. No one enjoys paying, but taxation keeps the country functioning, and pays for healthcare, education, security etc.
