Last week I questioned Warne's substitution of Nyambe, and I'm still not convinced it was the right thing to do. But if you're going to question, you should always praise as well when it goes well.
Yesterday, his substitutions and personnel switches were bang on and went a long way to helping us win the game. Releasing Bird higher up, bringing on Smith who can pass, putting NML wider and having Sibley in and around the area, all great tactical switches. Great job!

His arm was raised to head height and away from his body. The current laws give too many handballs, for me it should be just deliberate, but under current rules and how they are applied, I'd expect that to be given.
That's 2 clear penalties we've got away with in the last 3 home games. After some other games such as Bolton, we were due some rub.

Gosh this thread is a hard read at times. For those of you so dissatisfied at Warne, the style of football etc, genuine question. Did you not get any enjoyment from scoring a near last minute goal and the amazing atmosphere that it created in the ground? Did you not enjoy the celebrations amongst the players and fans at the end of the match? Did you not enjoy the infectious enthusiasm of Adams interview afterwards? Didn't you enjoy getting three points and remaining second in the league? Because it honestly feels like none of this brings you any joy, and I find that hard to understand.

I'll start by saying VAR advised the official at Luton Vs Sheff Utd last week to view 2 handballs, No fcuking way were they penalties...imo but both given.
Yesterday Man City Vs Chelsea a cross comes into the box and players jump for the ball, The ball then for a second nestles in a Chelsea players forearm in the box where he then moves his arm to nudge it away...VAR no penalty
VAR shows that it all depends who's in the box at Stockley Park, Games are won and lost on the opinion of a burke in a box.
    As for yesterday...as @sage would say...it's give-able 🤷‍♂️

There’s a section of the south stand high up towards the away fans who seem more obsessed singing songs slagging other Derby fans off than they do supporting the team. It’s something that’s emerged this season.
Any slight lull and it’s “silence as usual”, “south stand’s a library’ or yesterday’s joy, “support your team or f-off home”. Been going on a few games now, finally other supporters started giving them some back and then an argument ensued.
So yesterday, as has been the way recently, the atmosphere in that stand hasn’t been good, made worse by some fans doing the old trick of “we’re better fans because we sing more” routine. It’s just arrogant and divisive, and for that matter wrong. Fortunately the team turned up second half just before it started getting ugly.
Then in response to the manager’s excellent subs and shift in players, we got right on top of Stevenage, we played some good football, the supporters responded and the rest has been well covered in this thread regards the atmosphere.

Presumably then you agree that David Lowe is Derby County's most successful manager of all time because the stats show he has a 100% win record.
He might be 54th in the shooting stats but the important on is that he's 7th equal in the top goalscorer stats. That's ok. He's doing a good job.
Anyway, all this proves is that stats are meaningless without context.

Yet ironically you could have been sat with us, as there were a good number of seats unclaimed.
This was very lucky for @sage, who had to move seats at halftime after some tanked up prat had spewed up all over the place where he was.
I hope he's reported  by somebody, because we really need to get rid of this sort of offensive behaviour.
I've never understood why getting rat-arsed and ruining everyone else's enjoyment of the game is considered acceptable in football and I do wonder how many more of the no-shows set off to the game and became too inebriated to actually get there?

VulcanRam got a reaction from Ram-Alf in Collins not everyone's favourite.
No, it isn't that. Often he's coming back into play to make a challenge, or his starting position is just wrong. Players will now know they can catch him offside easily so it's probably happening more often. Much would be solved if he made more of an effort to get back onside quickly before thinking about joining back in with play.
He needs to get it sorted because its unnecessary and disruptive.

I feel like there’s little point debating it anymore. Those who have concerns about Warne have set their stall, those who are willing to give it more time have set theirs and the pages of to and fro across the forum make it very clear there’s little movement in those mindsets and not much by way of persuasion being considered.
I’m not arguing in support of Warne or saying he should be everyone’s choice for manager, it’s the proverbial p*ssing in the wind at this point, with many holding valid concerns which they’ve expressed many times over.
Results and performances are the only things that will make a difference to those entrenched in either view, and even then, as @TomTom92 said in another thread yesterday, I think it’s plain that Warne just isn’t for some people and regardless of what he does or doesn’t achieve there’s plenty who’ll be glad to see him go when the time comes. I just hope he gets the team promoted and whoever does replace him, whenever and however Warne leaves, perhaps proves less divisive of a character.

I agree, though I watched the Coventry v Millwall game yesterday and the standard was much higher than I expected, perhaps just because I've not watched much Championship this season. Then I watched the Soton/Huddersfield game. Even Huddersfield looked good and they might well be a L1 team next season. Given the current crop of management and players, although I'd prefer to be in the Champ than L1, something is going to have to improve significantly, which it may or may not depending on the outlook of the owners.

Apologies if not clear TR, what I was trying to say was that if Nyambe was on the pitch, the way he defends generally and had defended all afternoon, I imagine his positioning would have put him in the right place and that ball would have been shepherded out for a goal kick. But as you say, who knows what would have happened had he stayed on?
If Warne felt it was serious enough to remove him from the pitch, no problem. In the moment it seemed, to me anyway, he wasn't visibly struggling hence the frustration. Anyway, it is what it is and it's done, so we forget about it and move on. In the great scheme of things, we're still second and need to crack on.

I’m not sure if you’ve contradicted yourself there or if I’m just reading it wrong. Yes Nyambe is our best right back and yes Wilson had only just come on the pitch BUT, as you say Wilson was on the wrong side of his man and the team as a whole (not just Wilson and Collins but the 8 outfield players in the box that allowed to the ball to run through to their player and then give him all the time in the world to take his shot) failed to deal with a fairly straightforward situation that we shouldn’t have to rely on Nyambe to do.
Nyambe had dominated that side of the pitch and usually does that’s why I wouldn’t want to lose him for a few games (over and above how much we lost him due to the Alcon) if he’d picked up an injury. Warne was either over cautious or sensible in bringing Nyambe off, we’ll never know whether he would have aggravated the injury if he’d stayed on.

Maybe, but Nyambe had dominated that side of the pitch and had little trouble with the Shrewsbury players all afternoon. Also he is excellent at defending players running at the byline just because of his strength and ability to get between the man and ball.
No criticism of Wilson per se, he had just walked onto the pitch, but he was the wrong side of his man, and between him and Collins made a hash of defending a fairly straightforward situation. So yes, I think it was highly relevant.

Nyambe spent 2 minutes on the deck being treated by the physio, after a full blooded tackle which put considerable lateral pressure on his right knee. I was surprised he was deemed OK to continue, but clearly he was still feeling it. So we lost him for 5 minutes of normal time, and lost two points, instead of perhaps losing him for a few games if he'd further aggravated his knee.
Keeping an injured player on the field is a big risk for the player concerned and criticising Warne for looking after the welfare of his players is obtuse.

The player standing behind Wildsmith and Elder on the line is in an offside position when the shot came in, he clearly interfered with Elder's ability to prevent the ball from going in by shoving/pulling him out of the way of the travelling ball. If the player hadn't of been there, Elder would have blocked it with ease. Therefore he is affecting play from an offside position and the flag should have gone up.
Only Bradley seemed to kick up a fuss, which I was surprised about.
It was yet another poor decision in an afternoon of poor decisions from the officials.

Wilson didn't pick the wrong starting line up, Warne did.
Wilson didn't make the ridiculous decision to take Nyambe off, Warne did. (Nothing about his body language suggested he couldn't have lasted the last 5 mins).
And, and I accept I may be alone in this, it wasn't Wilson's decision to sit back and try to defend for 25 minutes having gone a goal ahead against team whose away record is extremely poor and leave CBT on the bench when we were crying out for some spark.
It was however, Wilson who let his man go. So that's 3-1.
I'm with @DavesaRam on this. It was poor management yesterday.
Anyway, this thread is for positives. It was a better performance than against Cheltenham. South stand was noiser. Adams is great. Bird has turned up since Adams did. It wasn't so cold. I got home about 10 mins earlier than usual as the traffic didn't seem as bad as it can be. The ref was excellent for the first 15 seconds.
