I don't think they do. He got offered the chance to stay on reduced terms, if he cared about the club as people were implying he would accept it. He's never publicly apologised for the night, and seemingly hasn't taken any responsibility for it. I don't know how Keogh is coming out of this positively.

This is going to get me a lot of stick but I feel the club have massively cokked up here. I for one was hoping our rich will stay and one day manage us. As a young CB at school vidic and keogh were my idols. Vidic was my idol as a cb with his willing to put his body on the line. And keogh was my idol from pure sportsmanship ability and passion and everything. He was the first name I got on the back of my shirt. My favourite ever Derby player. Not the most gifted or anything but a true grafter and a lovely guy. I’m heartbroken by the news. The club need to think about getting him back either that be as a player or a coach because he is invaluable to this club

The other 2 idiots are fit to work, Keogh isn’t fit to work due to his poor decision.
If a member of my staff made themselves unfit for work and incapable of their daily duties caused by a similar scenario. I wouldn’t be paying them to stay at home, they’d get their marching orders. Richard Keogh should be no different.
I wouldn’t pay him a cent until he’s fit to return to work and the other 2 should consider themselves lucky they avoided injury and are available for selection.

    Sacked for gross misconduct.
"Keogh is understood to feel badly let down by Derby, for whom he signed in the summer of 2012 from Coventry. He started in 316 of the club’s 330 Championship matches before the car crash, plus all 10 of their play-offs fixtures. Keogh, who was pictured on crutches at Pride Park last Wednesday, when Derby beat Wigan, has been left to begin what promises to be an arduous rehabilitation on his own."
Lol. How badly let down do DCFC feel by their captain (as was)?!

Fact is that he cannot fulfil his contractual duty of playing football for DCFC due to being an absolute dick.
He therefore has effectively terminated his own contract.

This season really has been one to forget so far!

Is it only me who feels really sad about this? I know he shouldn’t have got drunk, got in the car etc, but what an awful way for his time at Derby to end ?

Nah I wouldn't have thought so - So many footballers have been done drink driving over the years and people have short memories when there's a chance of getting a decent player or new signing - I keep reminding people Jody Morris was done drink driving at 27 and we welcomed him with open arms last year (and rightly so, he was punished, learned from it and seemingly was better for it)
Bennett has technically zero value to the club as he was a youth player - Any money we make on him will be a net gain - I'd suggest Lawrence's form is the biggest factor for his value being lower at the moment
And not many investors / sponsors with decent levels of money are going to be put off by it - We had a spanking new deal with 32Red when we signed Rooney and he's had a drink driving conviction amongst other media-worthy incidents - Investors look at the long term and I very much doubt anyone looking at our club, strength of fanbase, amazing facilities and potential for expansion will be deciding against us based on the actions of 2 very silly boys doing something loads of other footballers have done in the past

Not sure about The Godfather, but if rumours of that night were to be true we're more into Scarface territory.

Seems strange then that every manager that comes in since hes been here say how good he is, in and around the dressing room.

We hope he stays with the club.
I was going to say we need leaders but realised that I would get slaughtered for it.
Anyway we hope he stays,I’m sure his contract offer pales into insignificance compared to some of the cash we’ve spunked on dross over the last few years.

Lower wages in return for a longer deal. His current deal runs out in 2021, so they may have offered him an extra year at £15k pw, or 2 years at £11.5k pw. Keogh still earns the same amount over the length of his contract, but eases the financial concerns for the club.

I'm not sure I can feel all that much outrage when - even at half wages - Keogh will be on £12.5k per week - That's not a bad wage to earn for 18 months while the club also pays for your care, gives you access to facilities and the best in sporting rehab - And he'll be contributing nothing towards what we pay him for (playing games)
Yeh, I think the sacking rumour will be nonsense - I can't imagine anyone at the club leaking this information but I can imagine his agent doing it to generate sympathy for the player - In which case you throw in "yeh, the club threatened to sack him" it makes a story sympathetic - Whether the club have done that or not

Yes, but the other two are able to play and earn their wages now.
if they ended up in prison for their crimes, then I’m sure they’d be facing a similar offer. We’re not going to pay them for sitting in jail.
But while they’re able to play, they’ve served their time, they’ve been punished in the eyes of the club and the law, so they carry on playing and getting paid for it.
This all seems completely sensible to me.
Keogh has sidelined himself through an unnecessary, avoidable, and non work related incident. So we shouldn’t have to pay him silly wages. Imagine if you could get yourself a massive contract, then just accidentally break your leg and sit the rest of the contract out on full wages.
Sean Barker, for example, is a different case, as he got his injury in the line of duty.

Well obviously, because the other 2 involved can still play football and earn a living where as the other cannot.  Hence why are they involved and the other isn't.

So the 2 main culprits have been given a fine and are already back in the team and playing like nothing happened, but the passenger who's already suffered the most is now being threatened with being sacked? Sure he's the captain and should know better, but if you're exploring the possibility of sacking him then you should have probably done that with the other 2 as well.

Would love to know how we could sack him and not the other two considering he wasn't even driving. I'm sure his lawyer would eat that one up. Or, y'know, shoddy journalism.
