I'm just very aware that when it comes to big news from the club, it's not left to Radio Derby to announce - contract extensions or otherwise.

I am old school I'm afraid. I think that where any team is in the league at this stage of the season is the real accurate description of where they should be. A team can be top after 10 games and be in a false position, like us last season, but to maintain that over the season is the real measure. So if your team is top end of the league at this stage its because you deserve to be there. Conversely those at the bottom prove they are the worst teams. I think the only statisric that I pay much attention to is attempts on target, and the actual goals scored obviously. 

I’ve conceded defeat in that particular exchange. If someone is repeatedly more interested in arguing as to why we don’t deserve to be second in the league than enjoying the fact we are that’s their issue and I’m content to leave them to it.

We got relegated at QPR didn't we, before jumping around at Blackpool? 🤷‍♂️

Regarding whether the league is weaker this year, that may be so of the best teams (us, Portsmouth and Bolton are probably not as good as Ipswich, Plymouth and Sheff Wed last season), but at the end of last season a lot of dross was relegated out of this league (Forest Green, Accrington, Morecambe), and they have been replaced by teams that are mostly comfortable in mid-table this year (Stevenage, Leyton Orient, Northampton), so the mid- and lower-rated teams I think are actually stronger this season than the season before.

Understand that one, Stevenage are way above where most expected. No idea why Ferguson would get in but not Warne or Evatt.

I think that you need to look closer at Rotherham's results last season. They only stayed up because of Warne's excellent start to the season and points deducted from other teams. Under Matt Taylor, Rotherham were comfortably the worst team in the championship last season on points per game and have continued this season.
When Warne left Rotherham last season, they were 8th and had a game in hand, which had they won would have put them in the play off positions.

Even if we won tonight, Pompey to beat Bolton all day long!
I really couldn't care less about catching Portsmouth, I guarantee you that come around 14:30 on Saturday 27th April, if we are sitting in 2nd place, not one single part of me will be disappointed we didn't win the league.

This assumes we're always in control of the game state. I doubt Warne told them to sit deep and invite pressure. They just gained the momentum.
