That's the kind of football we want to see. The vast majority of Warne out posters don't have a personal gripe with him, they just want to see attractive football on a consistent basis.
Northampton were awful though. Playing a high line with barely any press is suicidal.
The proof of the pudding will be, can we play like that against better and/or more aggressive teams.

Must confess I did enjoy watching that. Clearly the opposition were very limited but that's not Derby's fault.
What struck me tonight was how comfortable we looked with the ball - pop passes, plenty of movement & patience when in possession. That mentality gave us control of the game very quickly & thereafter they couldn't stop us slicing through them. We have the players to play this way regularly & I want us to have the same principles away from PP with oppo midfielders closing down quicker than Northampton's did tonight - not the hot potato rubbish we've seen in recent weeks.
Shout out to Conor Washington who I thought was very good with his movement, touch & work rate - great finish too. A deserved MOM for Max Bird though who looked like a mini Frank Lampard that first half in particular. Two immaculate finishes & maybe the start of a breakout season for him in terms of goalscoring.
Pleased also for Dajaune Brown getting his first minutes of first team action & hopefully his debut sees him kick on to be a regular first team squad member.

I’ve been waiting for someone to come on here and rub the ‘Warne Out’ brigade noses in it.
I think it may miss the point.
I actually WANT Derby to win, I would love Paul Warne to be successful, I would want Darth Vader with the emperor as his number 2 to be successful if it meant getting back to the Premier League.
But WANTING someone to be successful and BELIEVING they will are two different things.
If I go to the dentist with a toothache, I WANT them to tell me it’s okay and I can go home and eat a family size packet of peanut M&M’s, but I BELIEVE they’ll most probably tell me I need a filling.
So, am I happy Derby won tonight, absolutely, am I happy Warne won, completely, do I think we’ve turned a corner, we’ll have to wait and see, but I pray we have.
So, whether you’re in the In, Out or Shake-it-all-about camp, I feel we all want the same thing, and that’s a successful Derby County that plays the kind of football we saw tonight.
If this is the launchpad for something better than we’ve been served this season, then I’ll be the first to start the ‘Warne In In’ thread 😎

Why the hell bring Collins on?
What's he going to learn from that?
Surely at 4-0 up, even Warne dare risk playing Brown.

Clowes has got my full backing whatever he does, but ive been a fan since 1968 and can honestly say ive never been as cant be bothered to go as i am now( .will still be there though). Never been one for sacking managers and was not a Warne fan when appointed but was willing to back him, but getting very close to wanting him gone. I think if he does get us promoted to the championship he will not take us any further, but i will be there tonight supporting my team.

David Clowes has a free pass for life. The situation we were in when he bought us makes that so. I'm amazed that others feel anything different, but guess people do have short memories.
I will critique his ownership of the club, in a constructive manner (not that he would listen, nor should he) but you'll never see anything derogatory from me towards him and if anyone is bold enough to do so then I would hope there is enough of us to pull them up on their b******* and explain the gravity of the situation we were in when he saved the club.
I really hope this works out for him. He obviously feels like he's got a good one in Warne and is happy to bat for him against the supporters. Many weaker owners would buckle to fan pressure. Of course, he could be completely wrong and the situation never gets any better. He's the one with skin in the game at the end of the day, so I'll support his decision - whatever it is.
That said: I personally do not see it getting better, by that I don't mean our league position, because I think even with Warne we will be in the play-offs come the end of the season due to the nature of just how s**** this league is, but I definitely don't see him as a long-term solution for this club. That is my opinion.

I'd love to see him do something radical, but we know he won't. Include Brown, include Robinson etc. These guys are the future, not the old men who aren't performing and won't be here next year.

    Ah well. I'm disappointed.
I was opposed to Warne's appointment in the first place, based on what little I knew about his style of play. I had hoped that I was wrong but, as things stand, it's even worse than I had feared.
But it's David Clowes' perogative. After all, he bought the club, thereby rescuing it.
If we cast our minds back, we faced losing this great club of ours. At that time, we were thinking about phoenix clubs in even lower tiers. Be honest, in those dark days, I think most of us would have jumped at a few years of turgid football in League One.
Well, it looks like that's what "stability" will bring us.
We will lose the promising youngsters, I mean from the academy; Bird, Cashin and Sibley will be gone in the summer if not January.
The football will not be great. Expect a lot of balls down the channels, early crosses and moaning about Collins.
The championship and higher will be a long way off for a few years now. Crowds will dwindle.
But, trying to look on the bright side - we do still have Derby County Football Club. And that is thanks to David Clowes.
    That's all I got.
But I am glad we have DCFC in whatever form. COYR 🐏
