ck- got a reaction from angieram in Stick or Twist?
Best example of this in my opinion was Geraint Williams.
He was just a bit better than the opposing midfielders when we played bottom of the table 3rd division teams.
He was just a bit better than the opposing midfielders when we played top of the table 3rd division teams.
He was just a bit better than the opposing midfielders when we played 2nd division teams.
And then he was just a bit better than the opposing midfielders when we made it to the top flight and played 1st division teams.
He never appeared truly a class above the level he was playing at, yet he clearly was.

He’s not up to much. Couple of good games, red card waiting to happen, injury prone, and won’t step up to the championship. No way should we be negotiating to buy him.
[Come on, we can do this. A couple more posts of this type and they’ll be paying us to take him!]

To be a top championship player, you’re talking about being to ready for the move to premier league level. I don’t think any of the team are at that level and for Derby to get to that point, some new players will be needed. I wouldn’t write off Ebou, I can see his confidence growing and his performing well.
As in a promotion in any job, it takes a little while to learn the ropes and settle in, but some people can really excel with that opportunity. This is my bit of positivity and how I hope the team develops. I would be happy with a strong mid table, just into top half finish next season.

Interesting reading this thread back only a few weeks later.
I'm not sure which goal technically qualifies as the one that took us up. As it was without reply, presumably Birdy's?
But what I am sure about are the important contributions of several players, not least of whom is Sonny Bradley, with two goals previously and the all important assist for Collins to put the final game beyond doubt.
Adams didn't score, but ran the match.
You can see from the subsequent celebrations how together this team is, as demonstrated by Mendez Laing busting a gut to try and get the ball back to Collins for his 20th goal late in the game instead of going for glory himself.
I know we are a tier below, but given the circumstances I hope that these players will live in our hearts and memories just as much as van der Laan.
Happy days!

If we sign Player C, I will personally hand back my season ticket to Mr Clowes.
We don’t want that dikwad anywhere near our club!

He has proved so far he could do with Derby in League One what he did at Rotherham.
He now needs to prove he can do better in the Championship with a bigger club and more resources.
I would imagine a contract extension will only follow if the latter is proven or at least looks likely.

The same as you , I’ve seen the glory days and for me this season is right up there , well actually these last two seasons in the context of admin all taken together ,,
football is more than football , my wife and daughter have come to games since admins and it’s been great , we have shared so much , we got two extra tickets for Carlisle so my wife and daughter could both come and bring my daughters boyfriend, there was the bit of sorrow that my eldest daughter who had season ticket when both daughters were small is no longer with us in person,
football is shared emotion , we will remember the day , the season , the emotion , we won’t remember what division we were promoted from , we won’t go back over the style of football we played ,
the last two seasons have been great , a bond between generations in families , happy times shared ,
that’s just how I see it 🤷🏻♂️
