  1. Interesting to see how this pans out, I feel we weren’t as blatantly underhand as Sheff Weds -  they litterally sold their ground and tried to put it in the accounts for the previous year retrospectively to stay compliant (that’s borderline fraud)
Ours has been so much more subjective - 1 panel agreed with us another agreed with the EFL. I would have thought on that basis we shouldn’t get any more than them. In fact less as I genuinely believe that in the way we made up our accounts it was thought to be allowable - to the extent it’s taken 4/5 years for it to be found not to be. So there is some mitigation here.

  2. Can see us winning this convincingly, we’ve played well created chances and had plenty of shots in the first few games. Night and day compared to last season. I feel like it will all come together on Saturday and we’ll be score some goals.
3-0 by half time. They’ll reorganise in the second half and that’s how it will stay. Confident!

My point is Roos didn't and still doesn't command his area, Huddersfield goal from the freekick, Addmittedly it was  swung in with pace, But he was caught in the headlights, Never moved off his line.

He's a good shot stopper, But when it comes to commanding his area and crosses where bodies are concerned there's plenty of scope to improve, The faux Pah at Peterboro where a 25 yarder almost went through him sent shudders up my spine.

My point is that he was pretty good at it until play off final. The error seems to have scarred him

There is no mistake in the final , McGinn said in an interview afterwards he thought he fouled the keeper and was surprised when the ref didnt blow his whistle , ive watched it back and i agree he was fouled.

Whatever is said, you don’t catch a ball like that. First thing your taught as a kid is to catch it as high as possible.

They weren’t lucky goals, they were a result of defensive errors. Roos should never have been in goal - he seemed incapable ,at the time, of catching a ball. I agree, team selection for the game was woeful.

    Talking nonsense there.

Roos was brought in because Carson seemed incapable commanding his area in the first half of the season. Roos came in and commanded his area caught crossed played out from the back and made some really good saves. As a matter of fact without him Leeds would have been in the final.
The final mistake IMO haunted him in the Cocu seasons and he needed a sustained period out of the squad.
Hopefully he can put that to bed now and go back to the goalkeeper he was for that period under Lamps

  6. Club feels like it did when Clough jr left. Fans loosing interest lowering attendances. Yet a core of fans that go every week rain or shine and fully supportive of the team and manager.
I don’t think the fact we don’t have a ticket office helps and obtaining a ticket is a little more difficult. I never have bought season tickets in a while due to never knowing if I can make the game until late notice. (Tbh I don’t feel like I save too much money as I end up making most games) so I’d buy them in the ticket office on the day. That option isn’t available now. They’ll be loosing around 500 odd fans from just tickets on the day. Also not selling season tickets can’t help.
Having gone to the games I do feel the atmosphere amongst fans is a whole lot more positive than on the forum.

  7. Roos

    Byrne

    Stearman

    Davies

    Fozzy

    Ravel

    Shinnie

    Watson

    Lawrence

    CKR

    Ebosele

Isn’t it weird that that line up actually looks fairly balanced with experience and only 2 academy grads?

I went to the Salford game and Ebosele will be a firm fans favourite. Really impressed with his pace he just seems to be able to take an extra touch in the area due to his pace and power. You can’t touch him in the box as he’ll win penalties all day.

Watson and sibley are the dilemma, one of them plays and I was really impressed with how Watson demands the ball off players and dishes out telling off when he doesn’t get it.

Fozzy in as Buchanan injured I’d imagine, I think Buchanan will be big this season too getting forward with Lawrence.

In all fairness we now have full backs and wingers capable of causing issues on both sides goal scorer in CKR (hopefully Stretton gets more minutes as the season progresses too) and potentially a player in Ravel that can move the ball forwards from defenders.

The big thing for me is; yes let’s keep possession but let’s do it by playing into the midfielders feet and getting them on the half turn. The defenders will have both Ravel and Watson asking for it to feet rather than no one last season.

    PAYE and/or VAT?

We’ll if we’re making a loss I’d imagine we’re paying out more VAT than receiving… and as for PAYE that would be paid out of the players wages so we wouldn’t be behind on that.
VAT is a real possibility but surely not to such a troublesome amount…

My understanding is that it really wouldn't take too much to at least move into a soft embargo and open up an additional 10+ spaces as players under 23 (21) don't count under a soft embargo. Pay the HMRC, publish the accounts and then crack on.

Mel is dragging his heels, like he has done with everything else to do with the club this summer. I think even if we are in breach of P&S, we still end up in a better situation - similar to Reading.

I think it’s because our accounts will land us in more trouble. EFL have made it clear they’ll be nicer to us once he’s gone so he’s probably looking to sell us first.

I understand your sentiments made after a close run win against a lower league Salford side but let's keep our feet on the ground here.

Wayne,as far as we are aware, has no other club to go to,we are his only "upper" league option.

To move onto a more prestigious side he's going to need to show he can both manage a football club and then get results from them with the resources he has available.

If he achieves that (and he has a long way to go) and he starts to attract interest from other clubs, then we will see the extent of his loyalty to the club.

And I'd be astonished if he didn't say he wanted to do well,I should bloody well hope so if he's taken on a football club as manager.

Now,hopefully Wayne is starting to learn from last season and will indeed succeed but it's too early to profess him as the new messiah just yet...lets judge him by his results in the league and the tactics and style of play he then employs.

    Last season he had

    Davies

    Lawrene

    Biliek

all out injured for most of the time we went on a bad run. Prior to that he proved that he could take a team cut adrift at the bottom of the league in to contention if mid table.
Then when we did get some players in

    Mengi injured

    Gregory injured

Then when the season ends and he hopes he can go back to proving himself he has to sign to experienced but ultimately past their prime CBs a goalie who just got relegated and a midfield wild card who hasn’t managed to perform for some of the best managers in English football (sir Alex, big Sam, Chris wilder) if (and a big if) he manages to keep us up again he’ll probably be the best manager we’ve had in recent history!

He would have been offered a job eventually in the championship if he left after the final game of last season. But he has been fairly brave to come into this season.

The support was only good when it looked like a comeback was on. It wasn't so good when we were 2-0 down and there were moans, groans and even the odd boo coming out of the crowd. We were playing our academy kids....support them

Were you there?! Gheeze I was in the south stand and we didn’t stop singing, even as the goals went in the fans just carried on as if nothing had happened, there was some quiet groans when a pass went astray but there was at no stage… I repeat no stage! “Boo’s”.

The fans there,  I felt, were really understanding of the situation we’re in and the players on the pitch. Even 2-0 down singing Rooneys name!
