I can't believe he's still here. The only hope is that someone said Clowes never makes quick decisions, but always takes a weekend to think about them.
Before the season, and looking at the woeful quality in the division, I was of the opinion anything less than automatic promotion would be seriously underperforming, given the resources at Warne's disposal. It's only October, but automatics are already gone and people are talking about us getting into the playoffs. The magnitude of Warne's failure is staggering. And there is no indication whatsoever that the football will improve - no green shoots where fans can see a way forward.
Keeping him looks as if it will consign us to several years in Leagues One or Two, as it will simply be a case of managed decline. Given that, Clowes is likely asking himself "was it worth it?" Everyone thinks they will make good decisions and see the team they own rise up the leagues. But the adage about making a small fortune by buying a football club is a truism. Having entered the game, Clowes has put himself in a terrible position where whatever he does likely loses him and his family even more money. But by sticking with Warne, this loss looks all but certain. Twisting and rolling the dice again, at least gives him a chance.

Ah yes cus for example Bradley has worked out great so far. I would like him gone so that perhaps at least some of those stay snd we get best out of them so change needs to happen soon.

Weren't they all recruited for their characters? Seem to recall that was being touted as the most important criterion over the summer when PW was beating away droves of naughty but excellent players with a s****y stick......

    You're a bundle of fun aren't you ? lol
No I'm not saying spend millions , thats the point, we had a reset where we had no choice but to shop in the bargain basement, get our scouts looking at certain types of players, look harder for bargains both here and yes...maybe even abroad one day
Get the right man in who will buy into the long term project and have a vision of what he'd like DCFC to look like in say 5 years then try and implement the plan...its not an easy task i get that ...but there is also plenty of scope to have got us some good untried maybe at this level youngsters in with a few older heads and said...right this is where we are going and we will stick with it because its a vision we can achieve,,,Brighton is a perfect example...we beat them in the play off semis not that long ago and look how far apart we are now , one in Europe and one in div3 !!
If you think its all about spending lots of money then yes it is not achievable but we have the biggest scare of our lifetime and the club was only saved by a proper fan and i totally respect Mr Clowes
all I am saying is maybe just maybe if we could turn back time was Warne and more importantly, was Warnes football strategy where we wanted to be starting from ? Because teams like Brighton for example when they lost/changed a manager didn't go from one extreme to another
Warne has tried his best but I seriously cannot see this being turned around and the problem is long term do we really want this type of football to succeed?
Short term some may say yes and if Warne gets us up then change the manager but surely this is where the foresight would benefit us as changing managers, buying the wrong players to suit how we want to play etc etc is where money would get wasted
have a clear idea how and where you want the club to go , get the right people in to implement that , scout and try to get the sort of bargain players and how the academy is to mirror the first team and then and only then .....give it time to flourish
The problem I see is Warne is not the right person to have been tasked with it....not his fault he was the wrong choice and Mr Clowes was only doing what he thought was right , but now is the time to cut it as its not working
Nothing wrong in making mistakes we all make them but when you do its best to act rather than letting it carry on even if that means paying what is needed to make a fresh start ...or is it better to let it go on another 3 years ?

Warne is a top bloke in my opinion football aside he's a decent man even though some seem to not like his friendliness, nothing i'd like to see more than him getting us playing well and winning games regularly but it just isn't happening

Right now I hope Warne leaves before this go from bad to worse. I like him as a person even if his way of setting us up is not compatible with DCFC. I hate to see him getting abuse from the fans but I also hate to see how we get beaten by Shrewsbury and Stevenege et.al. I could never think that we would not make the top 6 in this poor league but now I actually fear we even might end up mid table if this continues. Horrible to watch right now, like a car crash.

because it was in its infancy! it needed time... time he never got...but lets give Warne time to turn us into a real L1 side eh!
Both Rosenior's and Warne needed time to implement there game, one has had enough time for me and I also know which one was better to watch

At family event in restaurant below street level with no signal for match. Just read thread through all of this thread. Even after a few pornstar martinis performance sounds a stinker. I havent read a single positive comment. Very sad for Clowes and us that its come to this but a leader needs to own his mistakes. we are going in reverse and Warne & Co need to go.

Also seen one or two referencing “clownes”, this is also bang out of order. We owe him enormously. He’s just a fan like us who had the wherewithal to do what we would all do. Despite seemingly getting wrong with warne he’s still our saviour

FFS there's no way this can continue. We can't beat league 1 teams because we have a soft underbelly? (I wonder where Warne gets it from!)

I’m upbeat when I can see something being built, even if it’s not there yet.  I was even positive during Nigel Clough’s reign, because even though it was slow going, we were getting better every season.  I can see no signs of anything being built here.  The team is getting worse, the squad is getting worse, the performances are getting worse, the results are getting worse, we may as well close the academy for all the interest Warne seems to have in it.

Sums up my feelings. Normally I’m upbeat but spending less time looking in because everything about our club is so depressing.
Just can’t see what Warne is trying to do, everything about his lost match comments on radio Derby says we’re going to chop and change again. He clearly doesn’t know how to get a tune out of this squad and half of them are his players.
Utterly depressing watching our team right, just feels like it’s going to be a long season, that will ultimately end in disappointment. Can’t see any real progress under Warne. That’s the real sad bit.

Unfortunately I think Warne’s time is up now.
I don’t think it’s an impossible position to recover. We have plenty of time to find form, claw back points and find ourselves in the top six. We could win both games in hand and be in 6th, for example.
The problem for Warne is the goodwill has gone and it’s the hardest to get back once it’s slipped away and results like today only cement the ill feelings.
The scenes post match v Shrewsbury either tend to be the beginning of the end or to stir up a reaction. To deliver that today against a newly promoted side from League 2, irrespective of form and the momentum they are riding, is surely the nail in the coffin.
I think he has tried his best in challenging circumstances but clearly something is not right and Clowes has to act. We just haven’t clicked.
The trouble is that the new man can’t bring in any players until January, so there’s the danger that things might get worse before they get better.

Cocu didn’t get as much leeway as what Warne is getting and he was a proper player and international on a different level to Warne ….also didn’t go after compensation as far as I’m aware …a decent bloke ….Warne should walk we gave him his big chance and he has not risen to it

If I was a player, I’d be very careful getting back on the coach to go home, the rate that Warne is throwing players under buses in this interview…

I’m getting nearer and nearer to the firm “Warne out” camp but I really don’t understand this talk of doing the decent thing and resigning. Football managers just don’t do that (not as far as I can remember anyway). Why would he throw away a three year contract, or compensation if he was sacked, when he probably thinks we’re not out of it yet (he probably has more confidence in his ability to achieve what is increasingly looking like the impossible than the rest of us) and he can turn it around?

I get that he wouldn’t want a sacking on his CV (although it seems far less damaging in the world of football management that it would be for the rest of us) but is throwing in the towel any better for him?
I also understand the pressure he must be under but I would strongly suspect he can cope (at the moment) with the emotional pressure. Like I said, it must be incredibly rare for a manager to simply walk away unless they have another job to walk into.
I don’t think it’s much to do with decency but more a case of common sense. “I think I can still do it but if you think I’m not good enough then sack me”
I’d love it if Warne could make a success of it (I find most of his interviews pretty cringe worthy but I wouldn’t consider him an unlikeable person) but my confidence levels can’t get much lower. Tuesday now almost becomes another “must win” game.

    Has to go.
This squad should be pushing at the very least top 6. We look a million miles away imo. I said after the Exeter game, one swallow doesn't make a summer.
Utter tripe football that's will get the odd result every now and then.
Can't be arsed with it until he's gone.

    Let’s be sensible about this.
we have not improved at all since Warne came in in my opinion - does anyone disagree?
Warne has brought in at least 12 players at great expense as well this season - have we improved? Not a jot in my opinion
Why is anyone expecting us to suddenly play any decent football and improve
in all the games this season in the league we have deserved to win one game outright and that was a poor Exeter side - our tactics are woeful if we even have any and you can forget trying to work out where our players are trying to play in these bizarre desperate formations
