That argument has already been destroyed earlier in the thread. For a start, if you want a deterrent, to even have chance of working as a deterrent,  you have to apply the penalty to the person who takes the  action  you are trying to prevent ie the former owner , not the creditors and the fans.  
 
And actually its  silly argument anyway. To anyone deep in debt should HMRC really be saying we would rather than us accepting your offer to pay us what you can afford we would rather you went bust and you pay us nothing?

Oh dear. It’s “diatribes”.

But it’s not just the tax they are owed , it’s also also the future tax they lose if the club goes into liquidation… which is actually far higher than the amount owed. 
and it’s not the club owner being punished. So the idea that club owners might behave differently is pretty unlikely . 

It was always likely Derby would be selling palyers or letting some go in January, especially as we are headed for League 1. Has anything changed?

But according to many on here, Morris has walked away and has avoided his liabilities... and any penalties.  SO how does punishing the club stop any other owner of any other club doing the same thing?  

If there is a fire sale, plus the chances of further deductions if the club do not exit with a CVA, it's going to be more like a fight against relegation.

I'm surprised how many think a squad which has only lost 7 and conceded 21 in 21 Championship games isn't good enough to challenge for promotion from League 1.
Hull won the league last year, strengthened in the summer, and would still be behind us in the table if we didn't have any points deducted. THIS SQUAD would compete for for the title. However, it would be a different answer depending on which players stay at the club next season.

I think I have been at acceptance stage since we went into admin... really if the wish fairy had said due to cutbacks she could only offer two wishes instead of three, one of them would be to ensure we still have a club even if we have to accept dropping into League One. 

I always thought we had a good case against the 12 point deduction but was never sure whether it would make any difference to us as we had so many other problems anyway, and so it seems to be turning out.
My anger is at the whole situation, and by no means do I only blame Mel Morris. The whole system is corrupt, including the Sky TV money, the EFL, the Government closing the stadium without compensating the club . Maybe HMRC now if they are playing hard ball. So that anger certainly hasn't passed.
 

Marhsall is on too high a wage and he wasn't first choice. Maybe both Marhsall and Roos will be gone in January.

The 7 that haven't (excluding us) are probably mostly those in receipt of parachute money. Most of them are going for promotion so will not be keen on a 12 point reduction. Nor are they  likely to go into administration when they are getting all that money from Sky. 


 

It comes across as unprofessional of Krasner  to be commenting on things he cannot possibly know about. I haven't read the athletic article, I never do as it's behind a paywall. But maybe like I say  Krasner has sour grapes he didnt get the Derby gig but Quantuma did.
