We'd have only lost on penalties anyway

We did lose on penalties so no change? Kane blazed it over the bar which sealed our fate. Or are we supposed to pre-qualify with timing of when the penalty was missed now?

We're good at beating teams like Wales and Iran, but as soon as we come up against another quality team we choke under the pressure and lose virtually every single time.

I just hope that we can get ourselves a new manager now that isnt an FA yes man.

Agreed. Not a bad performance tonight, arguably hard done by but we're again beaten by the first decent team we come up against and all so predictable, story of pretty much every England tournament. And in those key moments that define winners, we bottle it (2nd peno tonight) and the opposition doesn't.

  3. If England do well it is despite Southgate, not because of him. I don't rate him at all. I rarely watch England, missed us play Iran, saw us in Euro cup final which was dire, unadventurous football (wished I hadn't watched) and again tonight, and for me was again boring, unadventurous football. When consider the players he has on the bench difficult to stomach.

Disappointed in Mount tonight, being ex Derby want him to do well but difficult to see he should be on the wing vs Grealish or Foden.

Expect we will go through the group now and lets see if the draw is favourable for Southgate again, will need it to be.

  4. He cares a lot, you can see it in match, he gesticulates a lot on the pitch, talks a lot and is serious that he came here to get us back into the Championship. Sort of character and winner we need around. And I think Warne's style will suit him as we rely more and more on set pieces and dead ball deliveries to make the difference, something Conor should be among the best at, if not the best, in the division. It will take a bit of time and perhaps a transfer window or two but lets see how Warne's game can bring the best out of Conor. He has been no worse than Bird IMO, also came down a league with us with a big expectation to be "too good" for this league, and on the evidence we've seen so far, while he has been okay overall, he has also struggled to look like he is a class apart from anyone else he is up against in the centre of the park. We need more time to get everyone on the same hymn sheet, the fact we're in the playoffs going toward Xmas despite having 2 managers and a load of freebies put together at the last minute does bode well for us. In theory we can only get better (he says!).

  5. Nostalgia won't save the BBC; we will watch a slow death of just about everything to do it with it over the next 20 years. I haven't watched terrestial TV in years which is part of their problem as I'm not alone. I have a RamsTV subscription which I consider ample coverage of the club, so even pay-to-view at a club level has caught up with it there. The reality is ever greater numbers of us pay to watch the content we want (as opposed to pay to watch what we don't) and the BBC can't rely on it having a monopoly courtesy of there being little choice. There is a lot of choice now and they're struggling to adapt. Sad but the world is moving on.

  6. They've had the better of the chances, should have scored inside 2 mins. Not really created anything in open play. Poor peno miss by Collins. Dobbin looks to be having a good game and Sibley's set piece deliveries have been effective, about the only positive commentary I can provide in the opening 45 mins. Hopefully we can bag 2 in the second half as these aren't up too much and this is the sort of game we should be winning away if we want top 6.

  7. Some comments are bizarre, Warne has only just walked in the door, give him some time, cringeworthy to read the knives being sharpened after 4 league games, we have a serial League One promotion winner at the helm. My expectations for Warne are for next season where we expect to be competing right at the very top of the league (top 2 challengers), he has this season to figure out his moves to get there IMO. He will no doubt have players here he doesn't fancy and players here he needs to mould into his image and players he wants to bring in this Jan and summer. Be great if we could allow him to get on with this brief...

And I have no problem with the football, the intensity is great, Warne has said he wants us to pass it better so he is seeing what we're seeing too. And if it got Rotherham promoted it is good enough for me. Champagne football in League One, we tried it, nobly, with Rosenior and albeit we gave that limited time also, the difference is we now have a manager with a formula that is known to work to get teams out of this league - hopefully, our fans won't hound someone out after 10 games because we're not playing like Barcelona.

  8. Not losing any sleep to losing to Ipswich away, expected to and we did. Principal concern is how boring that was, I didn't watch large parts of the second half, was reading the online newspaper in preference. Not laying into Warne, it is clearly noticeable we have a different style of play but some similar issues upfront, woeful decision making and poor final pass/cross. It is frustrating to watch a team that always threatens to produce but rarely delivers. I think Warne will come good next season. I am starting to think we might be overrating some of the players we have here though, even Bird and the likes aren't looking like the world beaters we thought they would in L1.

  9. I've been really impressed. I had a read of the Wednesday forum when he came in and they weren't gushing in praise, I recall one comment like "can't go a game without throwing at least one in the back of the net". Underwhelmed therefore but goes to show you have to reserve judgement until you've seen them play a few games...and he has been excellent. Feel confident with him between the sticks, more dominant than I'd expected in terms of command of area too - I thought he'd be another Kelle Roos shot stopper type but shakey in everything else. He has been pretty good on corners in punching/catching and dominating his 6 yard box. If he keeps this steady form up I wouldn't flinch at him as a no. 1 in the Championship for us (albeit getting ahead of myself there...), we've had a lot worse.

  10. Well, we have been absolutely s**t-housed there, on top of a bad refereeing performance. PV were a very limited side yet we can't argue with the result. And Collins not only threw this game for us, but potentially others he will be missing, that show of petulance was unacceptable. 2nd Peno was a peno (1st wasn't), the sending off was justified if only for total stupidity. Another team come to PP for a cup final and we send them away with happy memories again. These second halfs are getting embarrassing.

  11. Thought Warne's comments were bang on. My only real disappointment was Sibley and Thompson did have a chance to shine and I don't think they've done their case any good for Warne to be considering them for starting places given the performances. Neither played badly, they just didn't seem to effect the game against a lower league side in any memorable way. Opportunity missed for them IMV. Also difficult to see how Bart is going to get two better chances than he did to get off the mark either.

  12. Second half was a tough watch, nothing to do with style I don't think, just couldn't get a foot on the ball at any point. Mansfield looked like the higher league team. Bart missed two glorious chances tonight, one header in first half and one on his left foot from 12 yards with only the keeper to beat, sort of night you need to just score them and be done with it.
