sage reacted to Loughborough Ram in Ben Osborn - signed on a two-year deal
No criticism, but what level of signing are you expecting if you are underwhelmed by Ben Osbourne?
In my opinion he walks into our team and several others in the Championship, so I think he's a great addition.
It's all opinions of course

Once more, with feeling; we have lots of good #10s/wingers, Rice and Kane. This is not some Uber generational England squad that should be sweeping all before it.

sage reacted to May Contain Nuts in Josh Murphy - Signed for Portsmouth
Whilst not overly keen on the idea to begin with a reliable ITKer named him as someone who'd been shown around Moor Farm, which is good enough for me to believe we did want him to sign for us. Possibly we only saw him as a squad player though, and only had him in so early through convenience, who knows.
Missing out on Josh Murphy isn't on the face of it a 'big deal' (unlike his reported contract at Portsmouth which as stated looks daft considering his output over 2 years); it isn't much of a concern.
What would be a concern is if the demands of Josh Murphy are representative of the demands of our other prospective Championship signings. We're mostly a bit meh about him but if a player we're not excited about is looking for those sort of numbers what will the ones we are excited about be looking for?

sage reacted to jimbo jones in Derbyshire CCC - Mickey Arthur Appointed
I’ve heard whispers that Arthur isn’t particularly well liked, but they come from a section of the fanbase that certainly don’t like him, so…

They absolutely do need looking at, because when you consider the knock-on affect this is going to have on youth development and player welfare in this country, it has the potential to be a massively destructive force.
Premier League clubs will start hoovering up more talent and hold bigger academy squads, because they will be able to use these as financial pawns later down the line because of the 'loophole' so even for players who probably aren't going to make it at the top level, i.e. Dobbin, then you can still move them on for big money because of an accounting policy. Kellyman was showing a lot of potential so that makes sense, but he joins a Chelsea squad that's deeper in young talent that any other club in the entire world.
The Premier League really need to consider the ramifications of their FFP model because this really is a toxic and clubs using young players as pawns for accounting reasons, self-imposed accounting reasons, isn't doing anything. The only way you can stop the ludicrous politics in football is bring in a hard-cap, otherwise you have all different teams working to all different parameters, pushing to compete and using any workaround they can find - to what end?

That reminds me, the intro and outro to Ten Storey Lovesong that blends into the 2 songs either side.

sage reacted to Comrade 86 in Joey Barton being Joey Barton
He'll just imitate his role model, Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon and scrounge the cash of his useful idiot fanbase. They'll be falling over themselves to help him out, no doubt.

sage reacted to cstand in How domesticated are you?
Mrs Cstand was shocked a few years ago to found out one of her friends takes adult toys with her on holidays abroad.
She said it would be very embarrassing if she was picked out for a baggage check going through customs.
Her friend replied it was no problem because she always packed them in her husband’s suitcase without him knowing. 😂

sage reacted to Bob The Badger in How domesticated are you?
Mrs Badger just told me get out the clothes I want to take to Croatia on Tuesday.
Then she'll pack the ones I'm actually taking.
Life comes at you hard. I just meekly said, ok.
I highly doubt my faded XTC or Buzzcocks t's will make the cut.

That's harsh. I knew a physio very well at one time. He told me Bryson was at Burnley. Literally. So I posted that on another board and he ended up doing a monumental U-turn. Stuff happens

(true story - the 12 bottles bit - not the whinge. Thank you, wonderful daughter).

sage reacted to uttoxram75 in Cola Bottle Biscuit
Not just the lack of chocolate, its the chocolate itself. Most cheap chocolate is watered down with palm oil nowadays so the bit you do eat isn't as tasty as it used to be.
Chocolate used to be made with cocoa butter, now it gets thinned out with vegetable oil, mainly mass produced palm oil. They add extra sugar to make it taste nicer.

sage reacted to Gee SCREAMER !! in Cola Bottle Biscuit
Eat the chocolate and sponge from round the side and under first. Pop the chocolate coated jelly in and let the chocolate dissolve just leaving the blob of orange jelly. Lovely.
My dad once brought home about 400 packets of Digestives that had fell of the back of a lorry in the early 80's. They were still there 2 years later when he absconded. Dried up portions of misery that are truly the biscuit of Satan. Everyday for eternity.

sage reacted to Bubbles in Mathew Ryan - signed by AS Roma
Three weeks ago, AZAlerts already managed to report that Mathew Ryan and AZ's roads were going to separate. Now the name of the Australian closing post pops up on the other side of the Channel.
Derby County appears to have the best papers to incorporate the goalkeeper, sources report to AZAlerts. Unknown is Ryan's name not in the UK, the Australian previously defended the colors of Arsenal and Brighton.

sage reacted to Crewton in Joey Barton being Joey Barton
I think he simply cycles to and from work, rather than "around all day" but I may be wrong. When I was on Twitter, I saw quite a few of the incidents he posted about and most of them were indeed drivers driving carelessly, selfishly or sometimes recklessly. I'm not the greatest fan of cyclists in London but, having worked with a very talented woman who later lost her life after being crushed by a lorry, I am a big fan of people being pulled up for reckless driving, riding or even jaywalking.
Vine may be pompous and self-regarding, but at least he's not a pathetic misogynist and cod-intellectual like 'Dick' Barton.

Not sure about “Massive”. Adams was great for us in League 1, but he has a lot to prove in the Championship . 100 games for FGR and only a handful for Cardiff, hope he can make the step up . We are desperate for a playmaker who can open up much better defences for a class striker . We need both .

sage reacted to Srg in UEFA Euro 2024 Thread
It is a clear problem that all our attacking players like to come to the ball, including Kane.
For all Rashford and Sterling’s criticism in years gone by, there was a reason they were selected. They stretched it and were an in-behind threat with pace.
