Cant believe he’s 29. Should have had a much better career - even if he is a regular premier league player, he should’ve been at bigger and better clubs (and maybe England).  FWIW for the sake of his career, I think we kept hold of him a bit too long - he probably needed to move before he did. Oh well. I’m sure he’s still earned enough not to have to worry.

It was the ankle injury that stopped him reaching the heights we had hoped. Took a yard of pace off him. He never had electric pace but was mobile.

Good choice. For Belgian beer lovers, the Elm Tree is highly recommended. Cracking pub. So many other great pubs to choose from though - Champion of the Thames, St Radegund, the Oracle, the Pickerel to name but a few.

Yes, loads to go at. The Cambridge Blue has big long tables which is good for large groups, which tips the balance.

There are millions of people in this county with IQs so low that they can’t organise their lives sensibly. They can’t plan ahead and they are unable to foresee the consequences of not doing things like buying a TV licence. These people are looked after to some extent by the social services but they are often left on their own when it comes to TV licences. They don’t go out much and their only entertainment, if you can call it that, is the TV. When the TV licence tax enforcers come calling they are easily caught. They lack the guile and worldliness to send these vultures packing and they will confess to anything.

It's unfortunate that someone vulnerable gets in trouble but it's for everyone to pay. There has to be some level of enforcement

    Straight from the horses/footballers mouths:

Wildsmith was asked about rumours of him leaving Derby. He has not yet been offered a new contract.
Ebou and his missus are absolutely loving everything about Derby. He said there are several things that need to fall into place about signing but seemed positive. He is the loveliest down to earth person. Didn’t stop smiling all night. If we need to forcefully restrain him to keep him here count me in! He doesn’t mind the Ebou chant sounding like booing.

Dwight Gayle is recovering well and hoping to be back next week.

Max Bird still very much focused on the next too games, despite moving on.

    Nathaniel Mendez-Laing smells very nice

Did Max say he'll be fit for the last 2 games?

Mostly they don't have any points to make, its just the same old every time they post. Nobody is controlling, its just about calling out the trolls, and supporting the team.

There are a couple but there are also many others with legitimate points being shut down. In terms of supporting the team, people don't go to games shouting 'Warne, I have serious concerns about your tactical flexibility if we get promoted'

Can and should are different things.  You can debate anything at anytime.  It doesn't mean you should.

It comes across to me as pure Monty Python to have a debate about sacking a manager two games out from a clubs greatest achievement since 2006/07.

Why? If someone has a legitimate point to make, let them make it. I don't see why posters should try and control what other people want to talk about.

For good or ill, football is a results business.  I nearly lost faith following the Crewe defeat in November (as I was nervous of the tactics), but a winning run put an end to that.

Warne, should we gain promotion, will then have a two year contract playing in the Championship.  I think, based on statements by Clowes, he would have a goal of keeping us up and everything else being a bonus.  Failure there, and I think he would be in deep trouble.

You ask about when to have the debate.  Simple; it becomes live when any of the following happen:

    a) if we fail to go up - the debate starts immediately on us being knocked out the pay offs

    b) we go up, he get's a budget but it doesn't work and he offers no constructive approach to remedy the issue (effectively we are slow walking to relegation) - but this is next January/Feb at the earliest

    c) we are re-relegated, under all the circumstances.

I didn't ask when we can have a debate. I made the point that fans are entitled to debate anything appropriate at any time. You appear to be now saying we can have a debate but not until you say so.

I don’t remember there being.  If there was, he wouldn’t have made it past the 1st season, finish 4 places off a promotion spot.  Plus, players were signed from the top division.  And there’s some who think we have a good squad now!!

There are some reasons for that though.  In general, I don’t think there was as much of a “want it now” society.  People were prepared to wait for things.  There wasn’t the saturation with football that there is now.  Back then, you had cup finals and Internationals as the only live football and MOTD and the like was only 3 games, including lower league. Now, everyone is exposed to Man City, Liverpool, Barcelona, etc and it raises expectations.  And places like this didn’t exist.  There was no forums or Twitter for people to say how rubbish the line up is the second it’s released or comment during the game.

Or we could debate the differences between how the 2 managers have set about the task.

    But no, fetch the pitchfork

The points they make are intangible and intangibles are hard to debate, but it doesn't make them right (or indeed wrong).  We have no evidence of what a Warne Championship season with Derby would be like - and Rotherham are hardly thriving without him.

There are issues with Warne's management, of course there are, but we have it in our hands to get promoted - and are two wins away.  The idea this is the time to debate is absurd.  It is like complaining at a lottery win because the Euromillions was the night before and would have netted far more.

Never let the best be the enemy of the good" - Aristotle

It's never been the time. The belittling has carried on all season.

When we won, it was look at the table. When we lost a few, it was jumping on the bandwagon.

As long as people are constructive, anything can be debated at any time. Not you, but many just try and shut debate down, it's been happening for a long time.

The concern I have is the level of player we would need to attract to the club would have to be substantial.

We know players like Curtis Nelson, Ebou Adams, Mendez-Laing, who have been incredible for us at this level have all suffered in the Championship. Not to the point where they can't play, albeit Ebou is far from proven at that level, but where their impact is diminished.

I would say we're very similar to the Sheffield Wednesday side who won promotion last season. Players like Josh Windass, Michael Smith, Barry Bannan, George Byers, Michael Ihiekwe & Will Vaulks all were key players in that side but none of them have managed the step-up with much class.

Michael Smith had 50 goal contributions in his last two seasons in League One. He has four this season. Josh Windass and Barry Bannan had 39 goal contributions last season in League One - both have contributed to 7 in the Championship.

If promoted, we would see some of our most assured, consistent performers at this level go back to looking human and become a cause of frustration. Ultimately, I have to have faith that the club know the size of the challenge ahead. It's an incredibly difficult market.

Still, I feel that we would be in a good position knowing that we are looking at a relatively new blank canvas ahead of next season. I think Portsmouth, who recruited well for League One, but expanded the squad over the past 12 months will find the jump more demanding.

And this is the problem with signed layers aged 29 to 32. Their career trajectory is downhill.
