Several men are in the locker room of a golf club. A mobile phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands-free speaker function and begins to talk. Everyone else in the room stops to listen.
    MAN: "Hello"
WOMAN: "Hi Honey, it's me. Are you at the club?"
    MAN: "Yes."
WOMAN: "I'm at the shops now and found this beautiful leather coat. It's only £1,000; is it OK if I buy it?"
MAN: "Sure, go ahead if you like it that much."
WOMAN:"I also stopped by the Lexus dealership and saw the new models. I saw one I really liked."
    MAN: "How much?"
    WOMAN: "£60,000."
MAN: "OK, but for that price I want it with all the options."
WOMAN:"Great! Oh, and one more thing... I was just talking to Janie and found out that the house I wanted last year is back on the market. They're asking £580,000 for it."
MAN: "Well, then go ahead and make an offer of £500,000. They'll probably take it. If not, we can go the extra eighty-thousand if it's what you really want."
WOMAN: "OK. I'll see you later! I love you so much!"
MAN: "Bye! I love you, too."
The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths wide open.
He turns and asks, "Anyone know whose phone this is?"

You have to admire the way Leeds played today, they might have lost 3-0 to a Crawley team with a towie star at left back, but they play the game the right way and such a joy to watch

With vinyl it's an event even down to the smell.
Even now when i put it on, the nostalgia overwhelms my senses and start remembering where i bought it who i was with, why i bought it.
Going to the Record Cavern in Heanor early every Saturday morning to buy the latest releases was a social event, and whilst the sound quality of digital music might be better you can't beat the crackle when the needle hits the plastic.

Poor old Frank, don’t blame him for going to Chelsea (should have sorted it our quicker) but looks like he’ll get dumped. Don’t understand resentment towards him, regardless of how he left he gave us one of the better years we’ve had this millennium. I had time that year to go to plenty of games and some of the away days were brilliant. Also, he left us for a Champions League job...not Championship Stoke.
Might be good news for Tomori though, fallen out of favour with Frank despite the majority of fans thinking he’s one of their better CB’s. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him come back into the picture and get playing time if he gets the sack.
Not sure what Lampard would do next. Is a PL team really giving him a job, would he go back to the championship or is he going to pack it all in?

GB SPORTS reacted to cool_as_custard in EFL appeal
Not at all, the partner from the club's auditors took the EFL's "expert" on this point to the cleaners. He was an academic with very little experience in the real world and the only finding against the club was that the written explanation in the accounts of how the amortisation had been applied could have been clearer, not that the policy was against the rules.
The EFL are appealing this when they should be re-drafting their rules if they don't like what clubs are able to do within the current ones.
They were embarrassed because they had to admit they had misunderstood the full ramifications of the club's accounting policy and this emerged in the hearing. Not able to take that on the chin, obviously they allege they were misled by our accounts. Cannot see how this gets overturned, but we are dealing with the EFL.....

This shirt was given to Trevor East by his good friend Bruce Rioch but it was also worn that season in one of the infamous moments of BBG folklore when Gerry Daly smashed in the penalty v Man City when the spot had to be repainted due to it disappearing in the mud !
it was also worn on numerous occasions by Trevor in appearances on Tiswas, it is clearly the same shirt as a bit of the Umbro badge is missing ! Famous shirt !

True on an individual basis, but it's all about how the team (and squad) works together. Think that promotion season was my favourite chapter in Pride.
Billy built something special that season, shame it all went wrong for him after that.

Yes I don't get the argument that the EPL is stronger now than then.
Taking the Champions League as a yardstick There were three Premier league teams in the last four and four in the last eight. The most successful season for English teams in the competition. Both teams in the final were English. The season after was similar except only one English side in the final. The season before exactly the same. The eleven point season came exactly in the middle of the strongest series of performances of English teams in the Champions League.

Yes I agree the quality is closer now than it was thirteen or so years ago.
Championship is definitely stronger and the Premier league is not as strong (all relative).
IMHO there is no way Davies's promotion side would have finished above any Derby side from 2013 to 2019 and there are a few regulars in that side who wouldn't get a sniff getting in the side we have now for all our current woes.

Rather than the supposed strength of the Premier League, I think the main factor is the gap between the top 2 tiers.
The huge gulf in quality seems to have reduced over the last few years, with big parachute payments and lots of investment in teams trying to get promoted. Those parachute payments are designed for teams to go up and spend big, knowing they can afford to get relegated.
We didn't exactly got crazy with the money in our terrible season, but it still crippled us financially.
Whilst Sheff Utd didn't spend to get promoted, they had to be a pretty good side to go up automatically. It was still a massive achievement for them to do so well last season though.
Ironically they did spend money for this season, but the squad changes, combined with key injuries and losing Henderson, seem to have broken things.
