I'm aiming to get to the stadium early today to ensure I've got enough time to fight my way through the hordes of Bristol City fans protesting about Rovers selling their training ground to themselves to avoid FFP sanctions.......

Nope. Don't agree with that at all. Most people want to benefit from the organisation, very few want to join in and work for it.
As to how that would work in a practical sense...
RT have been around ages, why haven't they appealed to more fans? Because there was no need. Now there is a need and still they don't appeal - you suggest it is the organisation at fault, I suggest it is the people who won't join and work from within the organisation.
Have you joined? I haven't and don't want to.

Believe it or not, people walk amongst us who don't realise how brilliant Martin was in the best Derby team since the Jim Smith era.
I swear I'll make the driver drop them off at Etwall one match.

Is there any wonder football is broken?
I've said it before, but as someone fast approaching their free bus-pass who was in the BBG when we were winning the league, the Championship suits me just fine. Every game winnable and I can get tickets for any game I want to attend. Selfish maybe, but the Premier League is a farce.

Kirchner sent his statement to the Press Association (PA) so everyone who subscribed to their services (all of them) would have got it at about the same time. It's then a race to get it out.

Well, the way I see it is what’s the point of a billionaire owning a championship club? He canna spend big without breaking the FFP again.
As soon as the millionaire reaches the prem he sells it to a billionaire.
That’s football business, and what Mel would have done.

A lot of companies are structured to run off debt …. and do it very successfully. So in my opinion whether this bloke is a billionaire or not is irrelevant - particularly in the championship. The killer question is does he have access to suitable and sustainable funds (debt or equity), does his business model allow him to service the debt (and make investments in the right areas). If the investors confident of earning a decent return over time and in the case of debt investor -  that when their debt matures the business will be able to pay that back……dare I say it….. with new debt and a different interest rate - then so what. As others have pointed out, having wealthy owner -  in the world of P&S is more challenging and ends up with higher risk strategies - where the owner maybe tries to stretch the boundaries beyond the affordable in the knowledge he could fund the higher consequence outcomes from personal wealth for a period of time.
Right now, I feel we’re crying out for someone who tries to run our club as a long term sustainable business - lives within the means - creates a stable environment for the management team to plan and evolve the team with investment. Rooney has made shrewd signings without a pot to p in so it’s proven he doesn’t need millions - he just needs to have clear communication from the club and know what he can work with in advance and plan accordingly.  And yes I’m sure that model will include selling players at the right price and the right time.
Whether Kirchner is the right man for the job - I don’t know. But at least he’s been communicated his intent and given us all something to get excited/cynical about!!

If fans want a sustainable football club you don't need a billionaire.
Although being sustainable and competitive isn't that easy, still not sure the patience is there for that kind of model either if I'm honest.
We'll see, but I think a lot of fans don't actually have any real interest in being sustainable, just frustrated how money has been spent recently and looking to avoid a repeat of the situation we are in now. Understandable.
The ambition to be in the Premier League is still there, attendances reflect that and I won't deny it, I'm one of them. I want to see this club in the top flight and won't apologise for that.
Although the need for a better structure in place to identify the players needed to build a team capable of a promotion push is obvious.
Mel wasn't a billionaire and on reflection didn't need to spend the money he did, so whilst the idea of a billionaire sounds all sexy and exciting, it's not what is really needed at this club right now.

"I'm not a billionare, not sure that matters"
OK dude, no, it doesn't matter.
What does matter is you're probably going to losing between £1m and £2m a month on this thing and running out of that makes fans pretty mad. Unless you get to PL you're not likely to get any of that money back. If the fun and status of owning an english football club is worth that to you and you can afford to sustain those losses, welcome aboard.

Football is a vehicle and has been a vehicle for violence for decades, Why are we seeing more and more today, Sociaty, Lack of Policing, Lack of Parenting, Teaching has in some cases gone to the dogs, Where left wing teachings are common place in Schools and Universitys, Where Freedom of speach has been swept under the carpet in the name of "we fear a backlash" Where Pupils now know there's very little that can happen to them if they missbehave, Prisons are full to capacity, They know if caught and it's a 1st time offence then they'll walk out of court with very little damage, Where crime is now easy to get away with, Where smacking someone in a pub is very rarely bothered with.
I've been Caned at school, Walloped by may parents, Thumped by OB, Beaten at football matches by away fans, I never complained, Probly because I deserved it all.

was hit on the head by an object thrown by the Coventry fans yesterday , luckily no treatment needed, stewards not interested , left the ground after the match , Coventry fans everywhere looking for trouble , myself and my mates grew up in the eighties so yesterday was nothing compared to then , but the half dozen Cov fans who decided they were tough enough to try it on with us and spitting and kicking their chosen attack method were quicklly despatched by us with the minimum of fuss , no i am not proud of it but neither can we stand back and be spat on . and in relation to earlier posts we dont wear Stone Island

Well that's exactly it David. The EFL is not independent, it is mob rule.
I posted what Ridsdale was saying a few months back saying nobody should get a loan, especially clubs who have overspent, because preston were doing fine with  their sadly now ex owner.
I mean Ridsdale for Gods sake! of all people!

This is why Derby fans like me cannot take being lectutured to about our club being punished to "maintain the integrity " of the League.
    It is pure hypocrisy.

It's rules such as above that builds this "vendetta" that some believe the EFL have towards us.
Let's not forget here, the EFL signed off on our accounts, they only became an issue when they looked into the stadium valuation despite Kieran Maguire alerting the EFL to take a look at our accounts a long long time before the stadium sale was made public.
Meanwhile clubs such as QPR smashed the FFP rules the season we played them at Wembley, were Derby crying and threatening to sue the EFL and QPR, no.
Gibson however, well he's been a dog with a bone on this. I suspect the EFL would not have appealed and pushed as hard if they didn't have this threat hanging over them, and this all may look like paranoia, but honestly tell me I'm wrong.
The EFL will not want this in court, front and back pages of the paper for the country to see their handling of all this.
I find it hard to take that we're being punished for something historically which was approved by the EFL, the punishment doesn't feel like it fits the crime either.
We've been under embargo for the best part of a year, unable to strengthen the team, can't submit accounts as there is an argument over accountancy methods which are not in the EFL rules.
We're then being denied an opportunity of an interest free loan that could have helped prevent us going into admin because of the above investigation, so we're hit with -12.
Yet that doesn't appear to be enough as they want a further 9 point deduction.
At what point are we allowed to feel a little annoyed by what the EFL have done here, I'm amazed other club fans are actually enjoying this when it could be their club next.
We have a club down the A52 with an owner sending players between his 2 clubs in plain sight, how is this not been flagged up as a potential FFP issue, can you imagine transfer negotiations? It's a table with 2 chairs and just himself.
It just stinks, it really does. Maybe I'm biased as this is my club, but it does absolutely feel like a vendetta that won't end until they have us in League 1.
When you look at what Rooney and this team are up against, it's incredible the fight they continue to show on the pitch. They don't deserve to have a relegation on their CV's, not one of them.
If we somehow stay up against the EFL's best efforts to send us down, without a doubt Rooney should be manager of the season, not that the EFL would be brave enough to award it him.

So your right and I’m wrong and I’m not allowed an opinion. I didn’t say I agree with everything the club does or every decision the owner takes , but if you support the club you do so in the bad times as well as the good not just when it suits you. It’s a bit like having kids. I along with 3000 or so other fans will be cheering the team on at Coventry tomorrow regardless , trying to keep them in this division. Like I said that’s my opinion, I didn’t rubbish yours .
