Can’t see NML being risked. Think the two specialist FBs will start. Hourihane seems undroppable. Wouldn’t be my team but think it’s what he’ll pick.

To make any inroads towards 'financial freedom' someones going to need to come up with a strategy to move the club away from being a loss making business. Just my thoughts.

I'm not frustrated or even disappointed by the predictable (non) signing of a striker. I would rather the club was just up front about it and treated the supporters with some respect or at least in an adult way. In any business transaction, if you are serious and professional you don't let a crucial deal get anywhere near the deadline unless you have a contingency plan to fall back on. All this stuff that trotted out 'just couldn't get the deal over the line'  'close but ran out of time'  'thought we had someone lined up' etc etc.... just puerile nonsense.

Probably our best player now Bird has gone.  I’m just making the point really that he won’t stay in League 1 next season if we don’t go up.
Of course I want promotion who wouldn’t but it’s by no means a given now after failing to get a CF in .
What do I know but we were poor against Cheltenham but our only CF and Bird dug us out

Don't believe Clowes will be micromanaging  the building of the team as your post suggests.
Its not a case of players not working out but that the strategy doesn't meet the main needs. There is a clear need for another striker. having o nly one regularly fit competent striker takes us back to the problems we had when under EFL sanction, when we are /should be in a much better position to acquire new players now. Admittedly Collins is doing well but we need cover if we are undertaking a promotion push. We had the same striker issue last summer  and have learnt nowt from that.

It's been a bit of a nightmare window. I'd banked on us strengthening, Peterborough selling some of their assets (they didn't, and the one they did they loaned back) and the other top 6 scatter-gunning in some panic buys that weakened the overall team (ala Billy Davies promotion season)..
Whatever happens this season, I think we'll see Warne forced to follow the Director of Football guys transfer strategy next season, because what we have done this year flat hasn't worked. Yes, freak injuries to Embleton and Ward haven't helped, but we shouldn't be surprised that old men and kids made of glass have fallen apart when we needed them.

I'm going for £987.28 in the bank, and £114,700 behind the Bath panel... in cash... wrapped in cling film.

Apparently we can only sign players better than the ones other teams have recruited? An odd process. 😄

Could argue that Waghorn, Washington and TJJ were all risky signings, fitness wise. With risks you have to accept the consequences if things go wrong.

Yes that's the crux of it. We do want to bring in quality, but within strict budget constraints (on the cheap). If we had the financial clout, the deals would probably have happened by now. Not a complaint, just an observation.

It’s a good shout about the Lincoln v Peterborough game. According to the BBC, Posh had the same number of shots on target at Lincoln as we did. I suggested earlier that probably too many of us are largely judging Peterborough’s footballing ability based on one game when they played us off the park. I suspect there are quite a few Peterborough supporters that consider their performance against us as their best of the season and one they wish they could replicate more often. The same way I wish we could repeat what we did against Oxford away for 70 minutes of the game. The worry is that we haven’t looked very good much this season and we were very poor on Saturday for 60 minutes. I don’t know if that was down to the players ability, the players effort, the formation and tactics they are being asked to play by the manager or the managers ability to change things (probably a combination of all) but I do think we need to improve rather than just keeping up with the pace.
I think we’ll make the play offs (but not top two) and it will be interesting to see how we perform in the return fixtures against Stevenage, Barnsley, Bolton and Portsmouth.

Not sure about short memories, (I was unhappy about both the things you stated and said so) but some people clearly don't care, and are happy to divorce "the game" element from the "reality" element of football club ownership. Their prerogative I guess

In our heads - We are massive with massive crowds - we can buy who we like . David Clowes knows we are losing £300k a month - we are potless .

I think we're level on games. Bolton, with their games in hand and potentially getting Collins plus their grind out a result mentality, I can't see them falling out the top 2 and Peterborough just look a much more and organised side than us.   If we beat Bolton and Portsmouth maybe.

If the finance guys are doing their job and ensuring that the club lives within its means, we should perhaps be applauding that.

Yes that was very poor, and the two good goals scored by Bird and Collins can't overshadow an unconvincing performance. We were frustrated by a team that were able to get numbers behind the ball when needed, as well as causing problems in our half.

Maybe knows we’re not currently at our best as a team so is trying to force things where he can?
Also the offsides can partly be attributed to the timing of the pass can’t it? So with the team not in the best moment is the “wavelength” off between them all.
