I think Rooney has a template for of the type player he wants both as a character and personality wise.
This seems to count as much as ability, work rate and determination to succeed as part of a team.
These are part of 'his' makeup and are the disciplines and traits instilled into him by all the managers he work under and learn't from when he was a player himself.

One of the things Rooney is clearly looking to do is bring in height and power to the squad. Thats what you need at this level

Rooney has played alongside him and also he is with the same agent as Rooney too.
Decent age, out of favour and 1 year left on his deal come the summer so could potentially lead to a permanent deal.

    Standout quotes:
    Most interesting tthough:
Could be short term Bielik replacement if the lad from Ligue 1 doesn't fancy joining

Yeah, just gets dragged inside a bit too much, but that’s the centre half in him. Yesterday he came inside to tackle a midfielder and left Hunt loads of space to put in the cross that Djedhiou nearly converted for an equaliser.
This is me nitpicking as a former left back.

This lad can play. I love his attitude and you’re right, he needs to relax when in crossing positions and focus on clipping the ball in rather than smashing it. If he adds this, he will be the next one on Premier league radars. He’s a better all-round player than Bogle.

He is improving with each game. The one thing I think Forsyth does better than him is deliver the ball early, recently LB has been doing this and got his reward for it yesterday. We have a very good player on our hands.

If he carries on he'll get a move and become a regular England International in a few years. We have an embarrassment of riches at RB & he only needs to be better than shaw, chilwell & trippier playing out of position. I honestly think if he had a season in the prem he wouldn't be far away from the squad.
He can do everything, good in the air, good at tackling, pace to get forward & can put in a decent cross.

Yes indeed. I think he is a huge talent. He has a great low centre of gravity and a beautiful “golf swing” of a left foot; and a hugely powerful shot on him. He’s been desperately unlucky not to score goals - that pile-driver cleared off the line v B’mouth away (?) when the defender seemed to “lose consciousness”. His one-on-one the other night was probably the goalkeeper making a good save rather than poor finishing. It’s a very good point you make @Anag Ramabout attacking in isolation - quite often we get down the flank only for the box to be white-shirt less. Wazza will be working on that.
LB is also noticeably good in the air and leaps very well. He also is very supplie and athletic and needs to guard against losing that in favour of more muscle.

Ive always been a huge fan of Fozzy at LB who I think is the consummate professional and long may he continue. That said, I’m becoming also a huge fan of LB who is turning in to quite a superb footballer.

'the secret scout...' assuming that's the level of his analysis then I'd be mortified if he isn't an 'out of work scout' because he offers absolutely no insight at all. I could've wrote that without seeing him play a single game.
A teenage left back breaks into the first team.... what does he need... to fill out physically. I mean, you could literally write that about ANY teenage player nevermind a teenage defender. I don't think it's ever not been said about any player.
Buchanan is plenty physical for his age and where he is in his development. It's lazy to suggest otherwise. He's still very much learning the left back position after coming through the academy as a centre back. He's a decent enough footballer, not outstanding, and his decision making going forward could be much improved. I find his defensive positioning is far beyond many young full-backs, so he deserves credit there. It's easy to lament young full backs for their defensive positioning, but I'd argue that's Buchanan's strength.
He's not quite the footballer that Bogle is/was, but he's a much more rounded defender. I doubt many Premier League teams are going to be interested, though, as they look towards the flashy footballers first and then want to develop the fundamentals at a later date.

I think I got Lee all wrong
On breaking through I thought he and Whittaker were the weak links with Knight, Bird, Sibley and JHI the positives
LB for me made too many mistakes and was like a rabbit in the headlights in those first few games, but I have to admit he has proved me wrong ( i bet he is so glad to hear that ?) - excellent performances from the young lad - stepping up to the plate week in week out

I really like Buchanan especially in the formation we played vs Bournemouth. I mentioned in the match day thread that he does seem to be one of those players that needs a couple of games for his full game to click. When he first came into the team you’d would see real see-saw performances from treading on the ball one minute to whipping in a peach of a cross the next but he also seems one of those players always in the thick of it. I think he has come back in this time and it’s been a bit similar, but as the game grew on on Tuesday he got better and better. Funnily enough this is the complete opposite to Fozzy. He falls out of favour then comes back in and will be brilliant but after a run of 3 or 4 games mistakes creep into his game and cry’s of his knees are shot, he’s had his time, get rid and move on begin to appear on here.
