Well I guess to some extents, it's normal service resumed. I think in race trim, they may not see which way Max went, but I think it's fair to say that the gap has closed a tad. In fairness to the man-baby, that final quali lap was up there with Hamilton in Singapore in 2018. Pains me to say it, but it was deeply impressive.

I'll second RAW's doff of the cap to Piastri. Future world champion right there. Lawson so unlucky. Ran out of soft boots for Q3 and struggled accordingly, but how well did he go up to that point. He's another that leaps off the page and it's grand to see so many talented young drivers coming through. If Liberty don't f*** it up, the future could be bright in terms of competitive racing.

The Sargent experiment needs aborting. I don't see him making the grade, not even close. Yuki showed more this week, but I think in some ways he's been a bit fortunate to retain his seat. he is blindingly quick at times, but if I were his manager I'd be sitting him down and making it abundantly clear that he's in the last chance saloon now, with a season and a bit left to prove he's not just another also-ran. I do like him though and I hope he can knuckle down.

The highlight for me is the continued resurgence of sleeping giant McLaren. When you think back to the first few races, the transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. You can sense a few bums twitching at Mercedes.

McLaren back on top in 2025 I reckon

Immense tonight wasn't he. Not seen a defensive set like this from England since the semifinal in 2019 when the Kiwis ran into walls all night, I was at the Fiji game and we are absolutely unrecognisable. I'm not complaining!

Argentina were poor, but even so, this was some performance.

We made them poor. They didn’t switch on to Fords drop goals early enough.

I reckon if Ford can shift it to centre quickly then there will be space and time out wide. Most teams now will flood the 9/10 area at pace to stop the drop goal.
Even playing poorly in the backs the forwards will create platforms for drop goals. I expect more penalties for off side too as defences try to get in Fords face.

In the heat of the moment in real time it looked like it had hit his hand. I would think the conversation with the Lino was more about was it a clear goal scoring opportunity.
These things happen, that is just the way it is. 🤷🏽

    Strawman argument

to us with a view from the other end of the pitch, or on tv with the view of sitting on top of the stand, compared to the view of someone 10 metres away. What it appeared to us is irrelevant when assessing the refs decision making

By my reckoning 2 x half sures = a quarter sure you’d have to add two half sures for a full sure, surely that’s the way it should be done I’m sure.

2 x half sures is a full sure, ( it’s the same as two lots of a half sure. If I got paid two lots of a half pound and got given 25 p I’d be pissed of)

half of a half sure is a quarter sure

  5. To be honest I don’t watch enough football except for us to know how good or consistent  any of these new players really are.

all I know is we beat Posh who were above us at the time.

lost to Oxford - the firm team and Wigan - a team just down and have already wiped out their points deduction

    beat two relegation candidates

if they improve us at all we’ll be pushing promotion

Wait won’t let him go out to the championship but might go league 1?

More chance of regular starts than at champ level. Champ clubs use loans more for squad depth as cheaper than buying

Problem is Wildsmith is not clever enough or good enough actor to not look ridiculous doing it. Gets reputation for it. Then we will moan when refs make decisions against him. Or riles other teams up so fans get more vocal encouraging team and they're also more determined to score. Dont think it works positively for us and he looks an idiot. Same on few occasions last season

It will come to back to bite us - maybe already is - at corners and free kicks. Refs won’t give fouls on him easily as he always moans or exaggerates. Already seen him blocked off a couple of times and barged into without a free kick being given

It wasn't to get someone sent off, it was to buy time for Warne to organise the rearguard and stop their momentum. It should be stopped as it is sadly widespread throughout the game.

But why hold his head? Just go down and stay down - absolutely no need for a keeper to fake a head injury to get treatment

Warne will probably encourage it. During his time here he has hinted we are not 'coy' enough.

Its a tactic that always frustrates me in the game but its very effective and undoubtedly stopped them having a chance of getting another and giving us shakey legs

    Not faking head injuries surely

The opposing player shouldn't put himself in the position where he could get sent off. Let the ref do his job, there's no need to push Wildsmith over, even if he's overexaggerating.

He didn’t push him just took the ball out of his hands

It was really important not to allow Peterborough any momentum for an unlikely comeback. I remember how Mings having lengthy treatment squashed any chance of us equalizing in the Villa playoff final. Wildsmith's game management is a massive bonus for us. I understand many "purists" on here will disagree, but I admire his professionalism. I don't want us to be plucky losers.

It’s not the going down injured that I dislike. It’s the going down holding his head that only can be to get a player sent off

It was great situational awareness imo. Opposition stood around for a few minutes after the goal at a time when their eager to go at us again. Warne can get his message across to the players in the meantime in prep for the last 5 mins of the match.

Didn’t have to fake being hit on the head though. Could get a player sent off
