This is a really well written post and I think probably summarises how a decent chunk of posters feel about the current state of things on here nowadays.

I’m also sorry you feel that way. I think everyone bears the responsibility for that, not just the offenders in question. We should call out this sort of behaviour more often and try and encourage a better quality of dialogue. “Play nice!”

The only point I’d like to add to it is that I really resent the idea that if you don’t like what someone is saying, you should block them.

I have been on this forum for over 10 years and never blocked someone. The whole reason I’m on here is to read and engage with people that I don’t necessarily agree with. Why would anyone want to just sit in an echo chamber and hear their own opinions getting chucked back at them?

But yesterday what was essentially put to me was: “I’m going to be rude to you, if you don’t like it, block me!”

Wouldn’t a better outcome just be that we try and converse with each other a bit more civilly? Then we might actually get somewhere, change someone’s mind, understand someone else’s point of view, and not all get aggy with each other over…football?

Great post again, @May Contain Nuts

Since you are asking.......Me as I am always right.  😁

What does Derby football club request in the new fixture list, obviously not at home on the same day as the club down the road,

    anything else?

Do football clubs get to request anything? (genuine question)

Why couldn't people simply wait until the game was over? We effectively forced the ref to end the game 2 minutes early and were lucky we got away with that and it was declared full time.

Yes I know that might seem a joyless, boring attitude, but I'd rather not have more points deductions or see players get hurt.

I said pretty much this on the day.

Some of our initial targets might be Oxford players for example so it may be assumed they won’t want to move.

There will be due diligence being done on the players and whether they are open to a move to Derby.

Also, the new TV deal and other changes in the offing (who knows?) might affect our available budget and therefore our targets.

    These things take time.

Oh please. Stop talking sense. 🤣

One thing that consistently irritates me is how little fans talk of Lionel Pickering. Folks often talk about the great Jim Smith years (really our last glorious period) but they would never have happened without Lionel.
We also forget that Pride Park was also Lionel’s dream and vision - and he paid a good chunk of his own money to make it happen. In fact one really has to wonder why it wasn’t and isn’t called the Lionel Pickering Stadium.

Lionel in many ways reminds me of David Clowes albeit the latter is a more business-headed person. Lionel was a lovely man- maybe a bit gullible when he listened to everyone throwing their own advice and opinion in his ear at the pub……but a real Rams man.

Crikey, if there was one person who deserves a statue at Pride Park then it’s him.

(I would also like David Clowes to have the Club build a museum at the ground).

Of course. Let's ask David Clowes who spent a fortune saving us, to spend more of his cash on a museum 😀

True but it doesn’t exactly breathe excitement having Collo, Smith and Barkz extended and then Sibley, Wildsmith and Thompson as maybes.

Theres probably nothing too it. I just thought I’d fire a theory out as to why it’s taking longer than others.

I don't know the answer, but if I were to guess. It would probably down to the fact that Derby (due to the restrictions of the last few years) have a bigger task of patching up a team that have been promoted with a bunch of mercenaries.

Loans, freebies and a good few now out of contract.

PW and the team now need to balance what they have v what they want. Then decide who to release, without knowing who they can get to replace them in certain positions.

I have no doubt they will have a wish list, but it will be just that a wish, because we know nothing rarely goes to plan.

I would imagine that task is bigger than most stable clubs.

    Just my opinion.

  8. I think a move for Max, is good for him. However,  I do think Bristol is not necessarily an upward move. He should fit into their team very well, but hopefully this is a spring board to bigger and better things for him.

1-0 Sheff U away 1987, Phil Gee nutmegging John Burridge 10000 Derby fans rammed in the away end.

I remember that well. I was at the front and when Phil scored. I lept in the air and 10000 fans all pushed forward.  I didn't hit the ground for about a minute. Squashed against the railings in front. Happy days

The 4 year contract was a bold move by David Clowes, its paid off, they'll be a nice bonus for Warne and his staff i should imagine so no need to do anything just yet.

Sage touched on it above, its a different task for Warne than it was with Rotherham. Derby fans will expect more than just fighting to stay up, Thats not being entitled, its just how it is, Derby are capable of competing with half the Premiership in terms of fan base, stadium, training facilities etc so of course Clowes will not want a relegation fight and probably expect a go at the play offs in the second year.

I would be more than happy with a solid top half finish, no major brush with relegation and build for the following season. I think Clowes would be as well.

While I don't expect a relegation fight. I certainly don't expect us to be ripping up the league based on fan base size. The current team is pretty much a band of bandits that were cobbled together on a shoe string. A large amount will probably be moved on, and there are those out of contract. We know that DC does not have the bank roll of many owners. So unless we get investment,  we can't expect the very best that the championship can offer. We will probably need a fair few new players. I would temper any expectations.  Any thing more than mid table would be great I think in. the first year.

    Just my opinion
