Weirdly confident again. I just think we can outplay these guys, though we've still to see whether we have nailed the work-around for Collo's absence. I'd like to think we have, with Gayle coming in and we have Waggy returning and Dajaune as back-ups. I'd like to see Dwight deployed for the last 25 against tiring legs and minds.

Deployed??? Sounds like you are unleashing an Exocet. (Fingers crossed).

Cue the EFL stalling until our backup option has secured a contract somewhere else before telling us that we can't have Gayle. Of course It'll need to be put before the independent EFL 'Make some new rules up because it's Derby' Panel which won't be gathering for at least 6 to 8 months depending on when they can be arsed to deal with it and how much inconvenience will be caused. They reserve the right to suddenly find it acceptable if Waghorn or Washington suddenly find fitness or if Collins recovers quicker than expected, just to minimise its usefulness to us and then they can move the goal posts and reduce the wage level that we are allowed so they can slap us with some spurious charges for some s*** they just made up.

If they do this, we would score more than we do and wouldn't need Gayle

Seems that the restrictions we are under would have ruled out any perm signing, makes it even more difficult to bring players in, when your relying on loans.

Gives more background on why they found it difficult to bring in another striker.

When did you get back? 🤣

I have no idea what your opinion is. You've had three bites of the cherry and I'm none the wiser.
My best guess is you think I contradicted myself badly enough that you had to pass comment. After mild pushback, you're now playing the victim/free speech card.
    This conversation is insufferably  boring...

Grow up. Only someone with lesser intelligence resorts to calling names.

Are you seriously that much of a pedant? Do you really think I'm saying that a professional footballer with over 600 appearances and 200+ goals has zero technical ability? Or do you think Collins has bags of technical ability because he scored ONE scissor kick goal? Do you think he's suddenly Dennis Bergkamp? 🙄

No not at all, but your original post did say 'what he lacks in technical ability, he makes up with........' And yes, my job to pick up the minor details

He's the kind of player I would loathe if he was playing against us - a scrappy, fighty, argumentative sod who throws his weight around and bullies defenders - and I didn't take to him at first. He's often offside and, while his willingness to close down is to be commended, he often charges in, misses the tackle, and leaves a big gap behind himself. But what he lacks in technical ability he more than makes up for with work-rate, stamina, strength, and determination. And, dammit, he has scored regularly enough to justify himself. A number of great headers and that fantastic scissor-kick. I'd love it if he got to 20 league goals.

Yeah that scissor kick that lacked any technical ability eh?

Part of our fan base still doesn't like Chris Martin for some reason either. That's the beauty of football, it's opinions

Chris Martin was and I say WAS brilliant. But there are things you just have to let go. He has had his time.

I don’t find it irritating from a personal perspective, but I appreciate that some of my posts may be (rarely my intent), and also appreciate that there’s a nice cushion on my section of fence less impacted by the travel and financial commitments affecting others.

I have the stance that Warne is the manager for now, and that’s that. I accept it’s the present situation and will make the most of that until such time as it changes, he’s got some good qualities, and he’s clearly got some faults. I can tolerate it, especially if he delivers a promotion this season.

Actually my post wasn't a dig at anyone, it was meant to be funny and point out that fences are a menace. But I understand your sentiment

Posters on both sides of the fence can be just as irritating.
It’s probably a given that if you are Pro Warne you’d get irritated by those most anti-Warne, and if you’re anti-Warne you’d get irritated by those most pro-Warne….and for everyone who’s somewhere in between…. it’s all quite irritating.

Sitting on a fence is very irritating, you get splinters up yer bum.

It's not what it takes to get out of this league.  Plymouth and Ipswich played decent football last season.

At some point we're going to have to play decent football to achieve our long terms goals.  What's wrong with having a desire to see that football now?

I love how you only highlighted the bit you wanted which took my quote out of context.
