With the Byrne and Buchanan situation, I wonder if we need to complete the sale before EFL will let us trigger the extension. Which is why Clowes is keen to complete on Wednesday. Otherwise, their contracts expire on Thursday and they are free to leave for nothing.

Yeah, terrible advice. You're right, he should reject that 5 year contract on offer at Palace, where he will either get loaned out to a championship club or perhaps get some chances in a premier League team. Instead he should take the 1 or 2 year offer from a League 1 club he's been at for a season, for probably significantly less money.
I'm as frustrated as others are that we're losing players we've helped develop and given a chance to, but suggesting he's making a bad decision for his career is ridiculous.

Did you think this response through before posting?
He has more chance of Prem football by signing for someone like Palace than he does staying with us right now.
Unfamiliar surroundings? He’s a London lad, he’ll be much closer to friends and family.
Vieira is a good manager who seems to be giving young players chances. Palace have some good young attacking talent at the moment and Malcolm would compliment them in my opinion.
Even as a lifelong Derby fan, I would probably take the opportunity in his situation if it came along. I don’t think we should begrudge him making his career choices.

Hi everybody, happy t̶a̶k̶e̶o̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶d̶a̶y̶ Monday.
I've been waiting for a while to get official confirmation, but just a heads up to say that Groundwork is looking like it will be set for publication on 1st August! Admittedly that is two months earlier than I thought so I am mid-panic, but it's fine. Going over old ground but basically, I put the Pride book together which came out in 2020, and as much as I enjoyed it, the twenty years it covered were pretty terrible to be a Rams fan. So this book takes in solely the Jim Smith years.
There's around 55 contributors in total ranging from Steve McClaren, Steve Round and Bill Beswick through to Igor, Eranio, Wanchope, Sturridge and more. There's also a specific section just on Jim with contributions from some of his family, Harry Redknapp and Howard Wilkinson, and a BBC Derby bonus chapter with Colin Gibson and Graham Richards reliving those years.
I've been lucky as well to be able to confirm in the last couple of days that McClaren and Igor are both providing forewords, which is a nice little bonus! Somehow it's about 120k words and 330 pages, so hopefully it's a decent comprehensive account of the time from those who lived it.
ANYWAY - I don't have info on the pre-order side of things yet besides Amazon (but I'd always recommend not to Amazon because they're doing okay for themselves) and will provide those once I do have the proper links and everything, as well as the actual correct price because I don't think it's as much as the one it says - hopefully. But yeah, that's it essentially. If anyone did read Pride and enjoyed it, I'd 100% say this is a better read. And if you read Pride and didn't enjoy it, that's okay too, I apologise profusely. If you didn't read Pride, that is fine for a third time. I'm on here daily but usually just lurk, so hopefully it doesn't look like I'm only jumping on to promote.  Generally I live in the past and the present just confuses me.

It's irrelevant if they deserve to go up. We deserved to go up in 2014. We didn't deserve to be relegated this year. But that's football for you.
I hope they enjoy their day out, up until Duane Holmes scores an 89th minute winner for Huddersfield.
And just to get back (slightly) on topic, it frustrates me that we've suffered so much from the EFL for our creative accounting practices, yet no one seems to care about theirs.

They have overall losses of 202 million pounds over recent years and a wage bill of 38 million quid recently, so I'd argue they've chased it pretty hard.

Ah but didnt Boro finish 7th? We know what happens then? I am sure Mr Gibson the football paragon and expert Mr Maguire will be all over any dodgy practice in the top 6 teams highlighting it for their own good. And the EFL.
What's that you say such witch-hunts and vindictiveness only apply to Derby? Yes indeed.

Not sure the "right way" is having an owner who owns another club, so you can transfer players easily between the two to get round spending rules. Seems at least as dodgy than modifying you amortisation methodology.
It seems even more dodgy when your owner has been involved in multiple criminal controversies. Morris has rightly been in the spotlight with us going into admin. But their crook of an owner is ignored then they are doing well?
