I liked what I saw from him in the games I watched especially in terms of activity competing with central defenders and making more space for others to score, he’s at a good age to know what he can do on a football pitch and let’s be honest if Warnock and Hughton are wanting him then they know what’s needed in this league especially up front.

Having looked into Marriott angle again it seems like the EFL can dictate who gets offered a contract extension and on what terms (PFA doing a fine job of not representing their players here) 
longer term view - what a shocking league of anti competitive nonsense the championship is full of nowadays. In addition what is the point of a player contract let’s all offer them weekly or monthly ones because the EFL can just stop a players wages being paid from one contract date ending at a certain point, whilst stopping a club (buisness) from potentially keeping an asset and selling that same asset for actual money and moving that football club into a worse financial position by that action.
Why would anybody ever consider buying a football club when you can’t spend your own money on it because an organisation ( EFL ) make such anti business interpretations. Apart from Nottingham forest of course which is just a case of washing dirty types of money. 

No one else knows the situation better than Rooney - let’s see what he is allowed to do in terms of recruitment and putting together a side rather than being left with the leftovers and a nursery to choose from.

So the player might have objected to the contract which he signed where he gets paid £18,000 per week apparently which gave the club an option to extend it by one year and continue to pay him - that’s a hard one for anybody to understand especially when he has been so unavailable half of the time.

It’s all very strange regarding the Marriott extension - what if we were going to play him every week and he had a great season and we were much higher in the table to be far away from relegation or near the top six whilst also another club made a serious transfer bid which we wanted to accept? The EFL interfering with our season planning and possible outgoing transfer activity whilst Marriott is actually our player under our contract seems seriously a restraint of trade. It’s not as if we were wanting to sign an unemployed player or a contracted player from another club.

I would hazard a guess the advise he has received is not the best if this is the case. After playing nine U23 games last season I would say he is no position to ask for 1st assurances. 
I liked what I saw of Minkley but there was no way he was ready for regularly being around the first team.

Stats wise, he came out as their 3rd best player. Thought he had a decent enough game myself. Certainly not a player that should be singled out for any kind of criticism 

Whilst I agree the EFL clearly have stepped in, now that and why does need to be clearly explained especially to the player as it impacts his livelihood you would imagine 

I thought he did alright or Poland 
hopefully he can get some assists and maybe a goal to increase his value because I still believe we will need money to even pay for loans next season and Lawrence not getting selected for wales doesn’t help either 

They were in a pressure situation rather than a fun one - hopefully they will have learned a lot from it about football and themselves

I suspect there will be a lot of very jealous owners, chief executives and finance directors who couldn’t hope to get thier costs down to our levels currently 
we might even sell Lawrence before his contract expires next summer and jozwiak if he has a good euro championship

Bizarre that Marriott's extension was withdrawn by the EFL. Would love to hear more on that one.
Massively surprised with the U23s. I felt Foster had a serious chance of being our first choice keeper in a couple of years, and Shonibare could have been a useful squad option for the first team. I also expected Idem to stay on to compete with Foster as the 3rd choice GK.
Also surprised we've left it so late to tie Festy and Archie to new deals.
