The biggest problem across all sports is after recommencing the season, what happens if and when a player contracts the virus?

It may well have but at a price,it's not free same as here at home and i am sure insurance policies would be amended so that Covid-19 cover is not available. Experts are now saying after this wave has been contained another wave will start. Would Qatar want visitors from all over the globe anyway?

It's a lot easier to declare that it's impossible to finish the season and therefore not award anything than to award promotion and relegation. That way the league isn't making an active decision but simply declaring that everyone starts back equal. If leagues award promotion and relegation or even try to re-start the season after a prolonged period it does create way way more potential challenges to the actual result than simply applying a blanket decision. It's not realistic to restart the season and given the way football is an average points end is simply unfit for purpose quite honestly.

There is no chance of this season continuing up to and past June for many reasons with the main one being that it’s just not safe for anyone - supporters - staff - players etc - all medical staff should be used elsewhere as well not at hundreds of football matches taking place.
the issue of contracts is a big one as well and from our point of view do you think the club is going to extend contracts of players they don’t want or have too for example Anya, Huddlestone etc not to mention sponsors deals ending etc
Its disappointing for teams who are in good positions but the only decision is to cancel this season completely and as for European football next season we’ll that would be incredibly difficult to take place so cancel that.
the decisions would normally have been made by the next couple of weeks and the only thing holding that up will be greed of the top clubs and the issues of the broadcasters not paying up in full, the clubs will just have suck it up because it’s not the most important thing happening in the next four months.

I think the reality dawning on us all is that we’re in for at least another 6 weeks of lockdown and then many more months afterwards where life is not going to go back to anything like ‘normal’.
The elephant in the room, what the EFL and the Prem League don’t seem to want to acknowledge, is that there is no other option but to declare this season null and void.
Please hear my words: no other option.
Look elsewhere, Euros moved to next year, Olympics moved to next year, Glastonbury cancelled.
My wife’s friend has just text to say that around 20 refrigeration trucks have just arrived in a field next to where she lives (Devon). This begins to show the scale of what’s coming in a week or so.
So, let’s forget this season, it’s over. There is no other option but to declare it done. Bad news for Liverpool and Leeds, better news for Luton and Norwich.
At this rate, it is highly unlikely that next season will start on time, let alone finishing this.
Mark my words folks, up the Rams!

There will be a radical rethink by all clubs - many could go bust - no one will be paying big money or offering contracts like they were - football will be in crisis for quite a while

Strange you should mention that. I thought I'd have a look at what happened in the County Cricket championship in my 1940 Wisden. You can't really make any comparisons, because
    a) The season had almost finished, very few games weren't completed.
    b) In those days, counties played a different number of matches to each other, anything from 20 to 28, and the positions were decided on average points per game. By the time the season was called off, Yorkshire were so far ahead, they couldn't have been caught, even if all the matches had been played to finish, and were awarded the Championship.
    c) Money wasn't such an overwhelming factor in thise days, many were moneyed amateurs
    d) Cricket's a 'Gentleman's Game' anyway (Ha Ha)
As the vast majority of teams in the Prem and the Champioship have played an equal number of games, it's hardly likely that calculating average points per game would make any difference. I haven't looked at the Prem relegation situation so apologies if I'm wrong.
One amusing anecdote from the 1939 situation.
""At Northampton, on the second day of their match, Lancahire's captain, Lionel Lister, receiving a message from his Territorial Army unit, unbuckled his pads and departed." What a splendid fellow.
