A post that could have been written, almost word for word save for swapping some names, about Rosenior’s 10 or so games.
In truth I don’t think he is under much pressure at all besides what he puts on himself. He’s about a month into a 4 year contract. But I think his job is more difficult than it needed to be and we are going to need MORE new players which was entirely avoidable.

    Well yes exactly?
Did he do any better or worse than expected, really? If the answer is no he cannot possibly have performed his way in or out of the job, so in my opinion the intention was never to actually hire him, unless we hugely over exceeded any sensible expectation
If the intention was never to hire him he shouldn’t have been given pre-season, the transfer window and 10 games. Makes no sense.
All I’m saying is taking a bit of time to get the right manager in the summer would’ve made sense. In my opinion doing what we have, doesn’t.

I agree with all of that but I can’t help have the feeling that Warne was no more available when we actually got him than he would have been in the summer. But I also don’t think Rosenior did that much wrong to definitively show he wasn’t the right man either.
If you’re going to build a club in the image of a manager it makes far more sense to do that from scratch than from a base of 15 players on two year deals where he might not actually want or be able to use half of them. Any signing we wouldn’t have made under Warne, which imo is a few of them, now seems a poor signing.
I have no issue with Warne as a manager, I’m just very wary of the confused thinking we’ve seen too often before. I am pretty confident he’ll build a successful side here but by hiring him 3 months later than we should or could have it probably sets it all back 1-2 years. Maybe we’re in no rush and no issue with that either but the optics of replacing a manager while in 7th place might mean some fans put pressure on when it maybe shouldn’t be there.

Wildsmith 7 - not at fault for the goal but could maybe have started a bit higher up, maybe the goal a consequence of Davies expecting him to be. Good pen save
    Chester 6.5 - competent
    Davies 5 - fine but turned a forgettable 0-0 into a loss
Cashin 7.5 - very good as always
Mendez-Laing 6 - average, not his fault. Wasted as a wing back when we are playing good teams
Smith 7 - good performance, probably what we were missing in midfield under Rosenior
Sibley 5 - started well but frustrating. Not really sure what position he was playing at the end.
Bird 6 - average. Lack of touches speaks volumes about how we played or looked to play.
Barkhuizen 5 - rubbish, not his fault.
Forsyth 5.5 - remember him giving away a free kick in the 95th minute which was so dumb it made me turn my TV off
Dobbin 5.5 - flatters to deceive
McGoldrick 5.5 - didn’t do much, silly challenge for the penalty
Osula 5.5 - reminds me of a hopefully slightly better Conor Sammon. Needs it all in front of him at the moment
    Hourihane 5 - bad

Sometimes Wildsmith would be way out his box to clear up loose balls. Ridiculous starting position and I’m glad he doesn’t do that any more.

Yeah but the sideways passing possession for possession’s sake was bad wasn’t it.
And don’t even get me started on the square pegs in round holes with Knight at right back. Awful!

Reminds me more of Rowett rather than Pearson.
Although at least when we hired Rowett we only had to sleep walk through 20% of the season until he got some players that could do what he wanted, rather than 80%

Ipswich to me just looked like a team who have been allowed to develop under their manager albeit they also had an excellent defensive record under him last season while they were doing so.
So I think the most frustrating thing about us is that I have no real issue with giving Warne time and I don’t want us to become a club that fires and hires managers again but I can already tell that when it is bad under Warne, it is going to be really bad. We play a style where if you are not winning games you really have nothing to fall back on.
The players look confused and lacking in quality but these are all players who should be more than good enough for L1 ergo you have to wonder why that is.
Lincoln and Morecambe have both at least scored v Ipswich in their last two games, with Lincoln also winning. We barely looked like we even attempted to or went into the game believing we could.

As with most teams really I ultimately think people won’t mind if we are winning games. I remember in the full Rowett season there was a lot of goading when he signed his new contract in the January. The unrest started when the results turned.
I think when your teams play football like Rowett’s there is nothing to fall back on when results turn. I think that is the case more so than when passing football is played but probably not by much.
You can sometimes look at a defeat and say “we played well” but my gut feeling is we will not be able to do that much with Warne because the playing well is in the winning. How important that is I don’t know!

Barks not comfy at wing back at all.
I like the sentiment of 3 at the back but arguably the two most important positions are the wing backs and we don’t have any…
