"difficult to have sympathy for Derby given their indiscretions" - indiscretions originally approved by the EFL for 3 consecutive accounting periods.
"independent body has now opted to dole out a fine alone and not a points deduction like the twelve points Sheffield Wednesday were docked last year" - yeah, that's probably because the charge wasn't related to overspending ?
"clear examples of points being an appropriate sanction for such rule breaks and that should happen" - really? I don't think any club has ever been charged for using an improper amortisation policy.
"that should mean the penalty being applied for last season which would see Derby relegated to League One" - based on what exactly? Because a verdict for SWFC was arrived at just after the end of last season and had their penalty applied to 20/21?

The problem is the perception of us "cheating P&S", which automatically means points deduction in people's minds.

Went to comment of the TV thread then saw this had a thread all of its own.  Yes, there is clearly a fair amount of scripting but have to say I found this one of the most entertaining shows I'd seen in ages. Binge watched over 2 nights.  Kaleb is a star and Gerald is, well, completely incomprehensible. Hilarious. Was also surprised how much I learned about farming, and not in an anorak type of way either. Definite thumbs up from me.

I still can't get my head round why we're the ones in the dock when our accounts were approved, our accounting process was approved, the sale was approved, we referred everything for scrutiny and approval i.e. were fully transparent yet here we are being called cheats, being fined, threatened with relegation.   If I typed how I really felt about the EFL I'm pretty sure I'd be banned from this forum.

Whether you jump for joy, or cry "no!" I wouldn't be surprised if he did walk bearing in mind the absolute shambles we're in.  And I don't think it'd be simply to do with getting relegated to L1 - IF this did happen part of me would think he'd stay on at this stage when you consider what he's had to contend with to date.  But, if he remains in a position where DCFC has no money for transfers, we're still in an embargo, the uncertainty of the takeover continues, and he has no real means to build what he feels would be a "winning" team for the new season, that consists of more than 14 players, then I see this as more a reason to walk as he'd be in a lose/lose position from his perspective.
As it is, I still see this as lazy journalism though, piggy backing the latest vomit inducing drivel from the EFL.

I have emailed the sports minister and the football governance review body and my local MP, in case Crouchy won’t deal with my email as I’m not a constituent.
I think all Rams fans should do the same, as the EFL is out of control and not showing any fairness in its approach.
    Every bit helps !!

I would ask you urgently to intervene in the witch-hunt being undertaken by the EFL towards my football club, Derby County.
Having been fined £100 000 yesterday and warned re future accounting practices, following investigation by an independent panel ( for the second time), the EFL continue to press for a points deduction, with an unprecedented aim to relegate the club after the season has finished.
What is the point of an independent panel if its decision is not respected by the regulator ?
I feel the EFL is out of control, is being heavily influenced by third parties and is therefore not acting in a fair and unbiased way.
The EFL needs to be warned by the government about its behaviour towards its member clubs. Currently its approach is verging on bullying and I suspect it will end in the High Court, with the destruction of a founder member of the football league and hundreds of associated redundancies.

This.  We really need someone to step in i.e. the Government (never happen).  The sheer bloody-mindeness by the EFL to see us completely destroyed absolutely beggars belief.  Derby have to have all their ducks in a row by now.  Accounts and a full list of precedents (QPR, Villa & Wednesday to name just 3 but there must be more). If we don't have any of that then we're not worthy full stop.
And as for Wycombe, a club fairly close to heart as they're just down the road from me, they're having a laugh.  They only got promotion through PPG, not through overall merit over a season, plus finished bottom 3 with few injuries, consistent management, no Covid issues and no transfer embargoes.  Do one.

Exactly why I ask @Rammy03.  Hence why it feels so vindictive.  The EFL should in theory be there to help and protect its clubs but every step of this journey looks like someone's personal vendetta with little or no sense of pragmatism. I can almost picture someone sitting there in an old boys gentleman's club, smugly raising a glass happy to see us relegated as their bank account swells from a completely disproportionate salary thinking "that showed them".

Is there a precedent here for a retrospective relegation?  All I can recall is teams getting points deductions either in the season they're actually playing, or deferred to the start of the next season.  I don't recall ever getting to the point where a team is ready to kick-off the next season and then get retrospectively relegated.
I've said this before in that we've clearly played the game to try and get to the PL, as many team who don't get parachute payments do.  Constrained financially by restrictive rules.  But this whole episode smacks of a witch hunt by the EFL.   We've suffered so much already, with barely a team to start the season with.  And now this.  Will they ever let it go?  Absolutely doing my head in.
