Well, big Trav seemed pretty sure a couple of weeks back. Are you doubting him?

Or we wear objective glasses and can see that this team and squad is a work in progress having come together a few weeks ago. The majority of our attack from the last few years has moved on (with only Sibley remaining), give this one a chance to work together on their combinations, movement and finishing. If after a chunk of the season it’s the same situation then I’ll agree somewhat with your observations. 
The last 4 years are done, what matters is how we play now and in the future. Generating chances will lead to us scoring goals, working on the areas we can improve after a match will hopefully lead to us converting those chances in open play and from set pieces, there’s logic in that thinking. 
It’s blindly optimistic for some people to have said we’ll piss the league before a ball was kicked and it’s particularly pessimistic to write the team off after 2 games. 

 

Crikey. Do you remember the season under Arthur when we lost our first home game against Oldham and then went the whole rest of the season unbeaten at the BBG. We are a bit behind fitness wise but Beryl has said more signings will come in. We have a club to support. Let’s rejoice and enjoy the ride rather than the doom and gloom after two games ??

Had Mason Mount played any senior football when he came to us? He did alright playing as a Championship regular. We need players for the first team squad maybe coming off the bench , like Sibbo did  on Saturday a fresh pair of legs as well as all the oldies we have.

Good player to have on the bench and to come on when defenders are tiring.Looks to have plenty of pace which we lack in all three areas .

Seems like a low risk gamble. He’s young, has experience at this level, plays in a position we need some extra cover/different options and will be cheaper than a premier league loan.
If it works out then we could have a real bargain. If he fails to deliver it hopefully won’t have cost us too much.

Max Bird is already contracted to 2024. Knight I think is 2023 which is a problem given EFL restrictions on wages. .

He'd effectively have to take a pay cut to stay here, unless we offered a bumper contract for him in year 3.  He'll be on less next year than this year by about 1500 quid a week based on previous contracts for Bogle etc -13.5 a week.

Let’s be realistic nobody is going to pay much of a fee for him. Forget what we payed, totally irrelevant post covid. He’s too injury prone. Most clubs aren’t spending much money at the minute so no one is going to blow what would be a significant amount of their budget on a player who isn’t capable of completing a good run of games without picking up a knock. Yes he is a beast on his day but I’d rather have a player who is 7/10 over 40+ games than one who is 8-9/10 over 12 games. A loan out to get him off the wage bill and enable us to build further is most likely then cut our loses on him. The last remnant of a terrible period of over spending and underachieving by the club. 

I don't see many/any shelling out 7-8m for him. An excellent player at ours and Championship level (when he plays) but surely needs to prove that he is over his injury issues which is far from certain. I know that he's a Polish international and all but that sort of money is a huge gamble for a Championship club with his injury record and Prem clubs surely have better/safer options.

I fully agree with that but if he is to be sold or go out on loan, the sooner it happens the better. This would allow us to move in the transfer market now rather than on deadline day

I don't think there has been a direct quote from Kristian about not wanting to play in League 1. There was a quote from the Poland manager saying he needed to be playing in a higher league to be considered for a world cup squad spot and I'm sure his agent has been trying to make a move happen.
However, KB is going into training and doing what is asked by LR and the coaching staff. We shouldn't be led to think he's demanding a move due to a Turkish journalists translated tweet. He's showing more professionalism than Byrne and I'd be happy if he plays a part for us this season.

We've fielded young lads and trialists who have never played before as a team and will never play together again.
Expecting even individual players to shine in the circumstances is bonkers, regardless of how good they are 'supposed' to be.
I'm so glad we have the best fans.
