Totally agree, not the players fault. Tactical naivety. Wildsmith was in error but the situation should not have arisen had Warne not got the team shapeless. These are errors you see with managers of 8 year olds on the Racecourse on a Sunday.
it happens too frequently to be accidental, this is what PW and his team is paid for.  Unfortunately too much belief and too little ability. No admittance of errors.  The list gets longer I’m afraid.

It’s the tactical naivety that’s the issue. Nearly every opposing coach worth his salt has done one on Warne. Unfortunately whatever league we are in, the other coaches are better. Quicker to change , quicker to apply and overall more resourceful.
i have given him the time but I’m afraid he and his team are out of their depth. It’s  No excuse time now, last night the cracks were chasms and my patience with him has gone. I’ve tried to sit on the fence and occasionally point out these failings but instead of course corrections there are glaring gaps in this management team’s ability.  As ever there is always an excuse. Never “hands up, I got it wrong, we need to re-appraise our approach. “
The lack of contrition about where the problems are suggests that this is always going to be a concern.

It’s too late to change it now but this is not what the club needs.

Unfortunately, I am beginning to believe that on genuine evidence PW and his team are woefully inadequate. Tactically naive, they allow other managers and their coaching teams to take total advantage of any and every strategic tactical decision. I was never expecting Pep, but this is bettered on local playing fields by many a under 8's coach.
Basically it lets us down. Even if by fluke we get promoted, I am sorry that we cannot sustain this. I have never been anti Warne and Co but did note my reservations and concerns quite a while ago (these were quite obvious, so everyone else noted them) but no-one in the coaching team appears to learn.
I'm not a spring chicken having watched Derby For around 63 years and I 'm not saying I remember that much in my early years (but I have seen a lot of football, in my time)  but an older guy said to me tonight, after the match; that the manager is just a PE teacher and his only answer is to get quicker, unfortunately, the technicians have caught up. This is 2024, this I am afraid is a cul-de-sac.

Spot on pal. I’ve been watching us for 50 years and have seen some dreadful sides in that time, but I have rarely been so bored at games. Yes I’m grateful we still have a club and all that. I don’t particularly expect to get promoted from where we have been the last 12/18 months. But I DO like to enjoy my Saturday afternoons which I’m not watching Warneball. The football is negative and totally uninspiring. We have the players - despite obvious deficiencies up front - to play better but are constrained by the limited and under ambitious approach of our management. Yes we are second etc etc but I’m not enjoying this and I’m sure I’m not alone. Cue the happy clappers telling me to stay at home….

The thing is, PW knew how Shrewsbury would play, he talked about it pre match and yet he still got the tactics wrong. The lack of nous is soul destroying at times, it really is. We barely won any second balls, kept playing head tennis and the number of risky passes at the back was terrifying. We were playing a team in the bottom six who have been beaten by every one of our promotion rivals this season and yet they have taken 4 points out of 6 off us. Why does this stuff keep happening?

Well I feel your pain and frustration for those that went or watched on TV, We've lost 9 points from winning positions after 85 mins that I can remember, There's something wrong with DCFC, We're 2nd and Shrewsbury are/were 6th from bottom and we struggle, The same with Cheltenham and Charlton, I doubt very much our players go out to under perform, PW said he got the tactics wrong...sorry PW but that's not your job to get things wrong, We should be putting teams like Shrewsbury to the sword...but failed, Have we got that ruthless streak in us? I don't think we have...imo.
PW would have have had STFC watched and yet he admits he called it wrong with the starting 11, Well I've a very good memory and I reckon it's not the 1st time PW has called it wrong this season, Our players are playing to instructions, Those instructions are not very good, This team should be doing better than it is...and yet we're 2nd 🤷‍♂️, It's a very good job that this division is so poor that we can still get autos...wake up DCFC.

I’m loathed to say anything as my lad has told me a few things he’s heard Max say, more so Sibbo. The pair of them were very proud to come through our academy, they are professionals and want the best career’s possible. One day many might hear a story, a younger Max wasn’t that complimentary about Cocu at one point “allegedly” I’ve heard, but he’s always sought to improve his game and why shouldn’t he want new challenges, maybe better money etc.
Some comments are so savage, like we’re entitled to own careers or gain promotions. The same kind of comments that wrote off Morgan Whittaker and said good riddance etc; yet it was clear he was still developing and now look. Just maybe Max needs to move to develop his game more too; after all plenty day he’s not suited to Warne’s style, similar to Hourihane, can’t play together you name it.
Why can’t people be happy we’ve developed a young lads career, enjoy what he gave and wish him well; more so if we made what the club feel is decent money!

The performance was pretty dreadful, no hyperbole.
We played our 'Get out of jail' card today. Won't get away with it again.
Its probably been 4 games now where we just haven't turned up - and concerningly it feels like we aren't addressing the issues.
The performance was poor,  the players were both sloppy and had no options. Hard to see what we intended.
Points-wise we are still in it, but the performances need to improve drastically before our luck runs out.

I didn’t boo at halftime but people around me were shouting ‘sort it out Warne’ - I think the boos were more for the tactics than the players….I didn’t actually see many errors in the first half, just abysmal tactics.
We played with essentially a back 5 in the first half when in possession, with Hourihane dropping as quarterback, no-one (literally no-one) in midfield, Bird slightly withdrawn from a front 4…….passing out from the back to Wilson, who was marked and robbed about 6 times. The alternative was to lump it.
No member of the coaching staff admonished Hourihane…..he was clearly doing as he was asked.
I thought the boos at their goal were aimed at PW i.e. sort it out.
I cringed at the cheers for Hourihane being subbed. That was horrible- he’s working to orders and outnumbered in midfield.
3 in midfield was better and Bird seemed to drive with the ball more through the middle and things happened……I think that’s more to do with tactics and numbers rather than personnel.
i know the winner came from a cross but by then Cheltenham actually had to deal with more than one form of attack.
Happy with 3 points- really unhappy with the performance.
You can argue that the result is the most important thing and there is an element of truth in it…..but it is meant to be entertainment that’s somewhat enjoyable.
if I went to the cinema and watched an awful film I wouldn’t be happy just because Brad Pitt ended up snogging Julia Roberts and lived happily ever after……I’d think I’d had very poor value for money.

We've taken one point in two games against two teams that have managed a combined 7 points out of 24 before they played us We've failed to score in three of our last four games, we didn't even manage a shot on goal in our last match We've lost leading positions in two of the last nine games, ones where we had points on the board until the 94th and 98th minute As for Hourihane creating chances, besides jumping on one late one against Burton he is a complete liability. Not since Gary Teale have I seen a Derby player so unable to justify his position in a starting line up. Not sure what pay off that means Warne has agreed to, but it isn't one I feel comfortable accepting without comment.

Well I got lucky last night! Woo Hoo! But only in that I didn't watch the match! But I have done my penance by reading this thread all the way through, so now I am as miserable as everybody else!
Someone said that Warne in one of his interviews admitted to by-passing the midfield, and that he only wanted the midfield players to have two touches of the ball - one to control it, and the second to move the ball on , either to where it came from, or out to the wings. I appreciate the desire to get the ball forwards quickly, and is why I enjoyed the change from Rosenior-ball, which was based on boring the opposition  to sleep then attacking them while they were indisposed. And by-passing midfield is the problem, probably in more ways than one. If you remember when we went to Cheltenham, who were the weakest team in League One, who hadn't scored, and who had a non-existent midfield, so Warne decided to by-pass the midfield that wasn't there!!! Duhhh!!! And so caused the debacle of that match. It, and the matches immediately before and after triggered the fan response, which got everyone bollocked for not licking Warne's feet all the time. And suddenly there was a change, starting with the Lincoln (?) cup match where we played really well, as if he just sent the team out and let them get on with doing their thing! And we embarked on the good run, where we started to involve the  midfield, and played the ball at ground level, and Collins started to put himself in the penalty are instead of out on the wings.
Up until we were completely outplayed by Peterborough, since when we have slowly reverted back to what caused the fan outrage again. Did Warne use Peterborough's superiority to say "Right! That's it. We got outplayed, so its back to doing it my way"? Pure conjecture, but hopefully you can see where the idea fits in. So apparently all we did at Reading was get the ball out wide and lump the crosses in to our resident absentee striker/general offside man, and may have pointed out that all they had to do was double up in the flanks and Derby were like the proverbial Dalek at the foot of the stairs. Duhhh!!!! Again!
Re the lack of passion and overall sloppy play: we have seen it from time to time, especially early on in the season, but not to the levels described last night. Could it be that the players are hacked off being forced to play sub-football, because they know they are capable of so much more? When you have Bird and Hourihane who are capable of playing a bit, but who are forced to just boot the ball to the wings or simply up the field? Did any of you see de Bruyne's return after injury in the match against Newcastle United? He came on midway through the second half and transformed the match. We could sign three de Bruynes and you'd never know they were on the pitch because of our abuse of midfield! Is that why so many people are fed up of Bird's apparent invisibility? (Now there's a conundrum!) Are the players therefore on a go slow in protest?
A few weeks ago I was right on the edge of "Warne Out", but his apparent change of heart after the fans kicked off, and the good run made me shift back to backing the guy. If we carry on with this non-football against Cheltenham, I won't just move back to "Warne Out", I will be thinking of setting up a Crowd-fund to get him out. I am that cross and disappointed. Imagine who angry I might be if I'd had to watch the match as well!
