That’s the trouble with not banning the cheating twits for life - if they’re young enough they think it’s worth taking the risk as they’ll just be out of the sport for a few years and then welcomed back with open arms….
It gets to the point where you suspect that pretty much any of them could be doping so why bother watching - all that pride in the British team’s  achievements pissed down the drain less than a week after it finished - thanks cheating scum….

That's the 1st batch of dopers suspended and a British sprinter amongst them. Thats the relay silver medal to be handed back.
Meanwhile, the 100m winner has said he won't race again this season, even though his current commercial value is at its highest.
    Let the floodgates open.......☹

I'm not convinced Malky Mckay was a good appointment for Ross County and they might get cut adrift early on, Livingston's pitch should see them ok.
Big game for Gerrard on Tuesdsy, if they get knocked out it will leave a massive hole in their finances which might mean they have to sell either Tavenier or Kamara or Morelos.
Doig looks set for a big money move south, so if Hibs reinvest wisely there's a chance they can close the gap to 2nd and have a run at the cups.
The most pleasing thing 2 weeks into the season is the crop of young players being given their chance.

I've opted to try and get the misses to buy me and the boys some tickets for Aberdeen FC tomorrow, for their second leg European tie on Thursday night at Pittodrie, and if she has any trouble doing so, well what the heck!

Absolutely, this is the thing I love about the olympics. When you’re so used to watching football, and the massively overpaid primadonnas playing it. Don’t get me wrong, I do love watching football, but it’s so nice, every 4 years, to get a reminder of what proper sporting competition should be. People who were working in a factory not long ago, and are now holding a gold medal, that they’ll dine out on for years and tell their grandkids about. Ordinary people (but extraordinary athletes) that you may never see or hear from again, but for a moment they get their very well deserved, snd hard earned, time in the spotlight.
It does piss me off that NBA stars are allowed to come in a waltz all over the basketball competition though. That doesn’t feel like it’s part of the Olympic spirit.

It's been a great Olympics and it might have been one of the best if fans were present.
Such a shame for Japan that they had the bad luck to host during a pandemic.
Loads of British olympians giving a shout out to the Lottery in their interviews, it's definitely lifted the standard.
It warms the heart to see athletes compete in something that they've been preparing 4 years for, give their all, and see the elation and emotion afterwards.

Some odd views on this thread really as there's surely something for everyone Olympics? Being a raging insomniac and a massive fan, I've  not been too bothered by the time difference and despite some awful luck, I think the British team has shone yet again.
When you look back to the horror days of the Atlanta Olympics it really does show how our athletes have benefitted from lottery funding. Also shows that we're pretty good at this stuff given a fair go at it and it's nice to see our team once again doing us proud on the international stage.

I was born in Hull in 1970 and lived in Cottingham, just outside Hull and cried on my 13th birthday when the family moved to Aberdeen because of my dad's new job in 1983.
I was brought up watching Hull City at Boothferry Park and watching Hull Kingston Rovers at Craven Park. My dad still cheers on for the Tigers and the Robins and the rest of the family all have a soft spot for both teams. Watching Hull City as a very young boy actually prepared me for being a Derby County fan, because incredibly they were worse than us in the late 70's, and 80's etc when supporting Derby made us stronger for the current times.
I picked Derby County out of the paper with my eyes closed, when my older brother persuaded me not to support Liverpool who I'd just got into, I remember my Grandad Chick had given me a black and white photo of the Liverpool team, and I enjoyed watching them play, when I stayed up late on a Saturday night watching Match of The Day and awaiting my parents to come home from The National pub in Hull, usually with food from the Chinese Take Away for everyone's supper, so yeah I was encouraged by my big brother to avoid supporting the so called big teams being supported by others, at school at the time, mainly Man Utd, Liverpool and a lot of Leeds Utd, around Hull at the time, so around 1976, I blindfolded picked out Derby County, and I've followed probably more downs than ups ever since, unfortunately with the blind fold off!
My older brother is a Chelsea fan and my younger brother is a Wolves fan and we all love our football.
A few Aberdeenshire Rams, well mainly 1 in @2tupspost on here, I think @Ramadonna9 reads now and again, as does @Rampianand @campavanram and @Elgin_Ram is in the Clan, and @CWC1983probably remembers me from the Westhill Inn, when I grew up in Westhill, Abedeenshire. Their are Rams fans up here in Stonehaven, nearby in Montrose, in Fraserborogh, in Elgin etc and we have many others up here in Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh etc.
I now stay out in Inverurie and I take my two boys to watch Derby County when I can, well the eldest one has been inside Pride Park, the youngest one only outside Pride Park, but both who at the moment have opted to support Liverpool, and the eldest went to Wembley with me to the Aston Villa game, well I still have plenty of time on my hands, hopefully, for my two boys to see sence!
I hate to read on here when Derby fans are falling out with one another and calling one another names, and I hate to read on here when Derby fans are calling their own players, managers, coaches, staff etc all sorts of names also. Get behind them, not against them.
    Hope Not Hate.

CWC1983 reacted to Day in Let's talk about bans, warnings and closing of accounts
Let's talk about bans, warnings and closure of accounts, something that I try not to discuss as members are not always aware of what has gone on so a public court is not the way to determine if any warning/ban should be issued.
I just wanted to be transparent about a few things and it will be a lengthy post, sorry.
Now you may have noticed Bris Vegas has returned to the forum tonight following a permanent ban, he's not the first to have done and he won't be the last.
Not all members that are banned permanently will be allowed to return, this all comes down to the offence and how you react and handle yourself.
Without sharing Bris's message, he made a request through another member on Twitter, polite, no insults, that was then forwarded to the moderators room where a discussion is had an a vote. Including myself we have 10 moderators, I abstained from the vote to allow for a majority and as a result Bris was reinstated.
This is not a well don't blame me, but it's a point that I wanted to share as I have another member later where I have been accused of having an agenda.
We have had no issues during Bris's ban, there hasn't been an influx of emails and abuse through other platforms.
The next member I will show you was banned for something that went beyond the forum and a moderators personal life, a member that would never be welcome back on the forum regardless of how they behaved.
I have received hundreds of emails from all different email addresses, tonight I was given this screenshot as I have the user banned on Twitter, as I have all his previous accounts.

As you can see, he still regular reads the forum to be that quick on Bris's ban being retracted. Now, look, I find this funny to be honest, given all the communication we have had, I've warned him that the Police would be contacted which I was serious about, he must think this tweet would somehow change my mind.
    Sorry but no.
Putting the offence to one side, sadly we do see this level of response far too often to warnings and bans.
Absolute full transparency, if you react with any kind of insults, profanity to the moderator or via email to myself following a warning, you will receive another warning immediately which will trigger a ban. And if it's in response to a ban, don't ask a week later to be reinstated whilst it's fresh in our minds.
All we ask is for some respect, we understand the majority of members will disagree with their warnings and bans, believe me, I wish we never had to give any, but if we are to keep running a platform that welcomes all views (within forum guidelines), from time to time we must issue warnings to remind users of the guidelines, or bans where members have behaved in a way that we do not think are suitable for this forum.
Whilst I understand we are the most popular forum, and I say this not bragging, but calling it as it is, but we do not hold any members hostage here, there are other forums out there you can use if you do not agree with our forum guidelines or have issues with any of our moderation team.
Recently we have seen an increased amount of members that have recently requested to close their accounts, this is usually following some disagreement with another member and made in the heat of the moment, tired of the negativity or following a warning.
In most cases members are given a 30 day cooling down period where if they change their mind, the request is forgotten, However other cases where requests are accepted with immediate effect for a variety of reasons.
We do not appreciate members that have closed their accounts to return under different usernames shortly after. We understand at times frustrations boil over and I would advise all members that get a little tired of the forum, want out, to just logout, take a few weeks away before deciding to close your account.
This is not just a forum, but now a community that has been built over a number of years, a community that has seen real friendships that have extended outside of the forum. Having members that have basically given themselves a clean slate, know all the personalities and inside jokes go "undercover" goes against what we are trying to achieve here.
For those that have made it this far into the post, thank you, I appreciate it as it's been a difficult year for the moderation team as I'm sure you can imagine. I have asked earlier for respect and that works both ways, so when I can be transparent and feel it's important, I will be.
With that I am working on a system where members are made aware when their posts have been hidden which will be left with the reason by the moderator. I have been and on forums myself, there is nothing more frustrating when a post is removed and you have no idea why. I get it, and I'm working on it.
If you have any questions or feedback on any of this, I'm happy to read and respond where I can.
tl;dr Take your warnings and bans on the chin, don't abuse/insult moderators and you will be fine. And don't close your account unless you have absolutely no intention of coming back.

Ridiculously, they get another 2 chances in Europe.
Utter shambles of a club at the moment, they've basically had 6 months to rebuild and they've turned up for this season in a worse state than they left last season.
Meanwhile, the assets they could sell for decent money are losing value by the day.
Can't wait for the fans to return to the stadium.
    It's all rather funny.

Yip, tend to agree with you.
As manager, you have influence and power at a club. Show weakness and it gives players an out when the going gets tough.
By putting yourself in compromising positions, you are risking blackmail / bribery etc and that can have an effect on the club.
Im not saying that was the end game for the girls, but we've all seen "stings" in the past, and Wayne doesn't seem to make good choices with a beer in his belly.

Completely different sports. I remember when I lived in West Cumbria I was taken aback by the live of rugby league (and the ever vital quest to prove its them who are the jam eaters)
It's fair to say Welsh rugby union isn't posh, but certainly English and Scottish rugby union is a certain demographic.
As a veteran of the "fatties wimps and weirdos" group in PE I never really took to rugby...

I don't really want to be dragged into a debate, but watch this from 1:35 onwards (takes less than 40 seconds). When the players tell you exactly why they're kneeling (nothing whatsoever to do with politics) and they still face boos from people who have no idea what it's like to be in their shoes, you can see why it rankles. Especially when the boo boys aren't condemned (and are arguably encouraged) by senior figures in government.
